Incarnational Spirituality

Lesslie Newbigin - Incarnational SpiritualityWHAT IS INCARNATIONAL SPIRITUALITY?

Lesslie Newbigin offers one of the best definitions of incarnational spirituality. The following is an excerpt from “Assessing Missional Orientation: Observing Biblical Community, Incarnational Service, Bold and Humble Witness, and Reproduction of Disciples in The Light of an Awareness of the Holy Spirit” by Tim Volkman.

Newbigin pictures the church as God’s embassy in a specific place: “It will be a community that does not live for itself but is deeply involved in the concerns of its neighborhood.

It will be the church for the specific place where it lives, not the church for those who wish to be members of it” (1)

Each local congregation is an outpost of God’s kingdom and is to be a place from which the good news overflows in good action. Guder et al. state, “The Church represents the reign of God by its deeds as servants to God’s passion for the world’s life” (2) » PLEASE CONTINUE READING HERE »

The Celibacy of Harlots

CelibacyThe Sins and Pain caused by Celibacy

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” (1 Tim 4:1-3).

Isn’t it amazing and awe inspiring how accurate the Bible foretells world events and especially things pertaining to the church in the end-times? Indeed, prophecy is the one thing that proves the Bible is the Word of God.

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.” (Isa 46:9-10)

Celibacy and its devastating effect on men and women in the Roman Catholic Church was again highlighted in several news bulletins recently when 26 women in Italy voiced their concern and pain for not being allowed to marry their beloved priests.

Andrew Strom and J Lee Grady – False Teachers waiting for the Spiritual Revival of the Roman Catholic Church

Andrew Strom and J Lee Grady – False Teachers waiting for the Spiritual Revival of the Roman Catholic Church

Andrew Strom has tried desperately to play the role of the ‘good guy’.  But I have repeatedly shown him up for what he is;  just another false teacher. See here:  Andrew Strom, Revival School, John the Baptist TV.

Now Andrew Strom sent out this newsletter written by Lee Grady from Charisma Magazine.  Charisma Magazine (owned by Stephen Strang) and Lee Grady are part of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR).  In fact Andew Strom is also part of the NAR but he will plead differently, yet his doctrine and fruit tell you otherwise.

Back to Rome or is it Babylon?

Church headed back to Rome or BabylonBack to Rome or is it Babylon?

In Revelation chapter 17 the apostle John was given an amazing vision of a church that will dominate the entire human race in the end time and is going to force the entire world population to worship the beast from the earth, also known as Antichrist.

Could it be that the Emerging or Emergent Church which is making so much headway in the world today, especially amongst the intellectual younger generation, is being groomed for this particular task?

Are you amazed and perhaps even a wee bit angered at such a blanket statement? You shouldn’t get too upset because the apostle John was also just as or even more amazed at what he saw.

In verse 6 we are told that when he saw a woman drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus, he marveled greatly with wonderment and admiration.

At first glance it may seem a bit odd that John was overcome by wonderment and admiration by such a scene of bloodshed and persecution. Indeed, John was utterly amazed when he saw a woman sitting on a scarlet coloured beast full of names of blasphemy and a name written on her forehead “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH AND THE BABYLONIAN CONNECTION

In his celebrated book “THE TWO BABYLONS” Reverend Alexander Hislop wrote the following insightful introduction:

Mystery Babylon

Mystery BabylonMystery Babylon, Part I

By  – Jul 1, 1993

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets,…how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! Luke:13:34

I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore…With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication….I saw a woman…And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT….[She was] drunken with the blood of the saints, and…of the martyrs of Jesus….[She] is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth [and is built on] seven hills [i.e., Rome]. Revelation:17:1-6,18

Jerusalem and Rome! How different and yet how similar are these ancient (and current) rivals for worldwide spiritual leadership! Both figured so largely in Christ’s crucifixion and the persecution of the early church. Both are destined by God also to play dominant roles in the final events prophesied in Scripture. Antichrist will rule the world from Rome’s fabled throne of the Caesars, revived as the seat of the new world order. This “Wicked [one]” (2 Thes:2:8) will be embraced by Israel as her Messiah (Jn:5:43) when he brings peace to the Middle East and allows the temple to be rebuilt. That the stage for these coming events is already set seemed apparent to the participants in last month’s video making tour of Israel and Rome. [Emphasis added] » PLEASE CONTINUE READING HERE »

Calvinism’s Roman Catholic Connection

CalvinismsConnectiontoVatican

by

THERE IS NO QUESTION that Calvin imposed upon the Bible certain erroneous interpretations from his Roman Catholic background. Many leading Calvinists agree that the writings of Augustine were the actual source of most of what is known as Calvinism today. Calvinists David Steele and Curtis Thomas point out that “The basic doctrines of the Calvinistic position had been vigorously defended by Augustine against Pelagius during the fifth century.” 1

In his eye-opening book, The Other Side of Calvinism , Laurence M. Vance thoroughly documents that “John Calvin did not originate the doctrines that bear his name….” 2 Vance quotes numerous well-known Calvinists to this effect. For example, Kenneth G. Talbot and W. Gary Crampton write, “The system of doctrine which bears the name of John Calvin was in no way originated by him….” 3 B. B. Warfield declared, “The system of doctrine taught by Calvin is just the Augustinianism common to the whole body of the Reformers.” 4 Thus the debt that the creeds coming out of the Reformation owe to Augustine is also acknowledged. This is not surprising in view of the fact that most of the Reformers had been part of the Roman Catholic Church, of which Augustine was one of the most highly regarded “saints.”  John Piper acknowledges that Augustine was the major influence upon both Calvin and Luther, who continued to revere him and his doctrines even after they broke away from Roman Catholicism. 5

C. H. Spurgeon admitted that “perhaps Calvin himself derived it [Calvinism] mainly from the writings of Augustine.” 6 Alvin L. Baker wrote, “There is hardly a doctrine of Calvin that does not bear the marks of Augustine’s influence.” 7 For example, the following from Augustine sounds like an echo reverberating through the writings of Calvin: » PLEASE CONTINUE READING HERE »

Angus Buchan says, “Put your Doctrinal Differences Aside!”

In Dion Forster’s  book,  “An uncommon spiritual path – the quest to find Jesus beyond conventional Christianity” , the editorial review of his book, provides says:

“It would seem that for many Christians, and particularly for persons who have left the Church, conventional Christianity does not provide enough to sustain their spiritual lives. This book charts an uncommon spiritual path by examining the non-dual spirituality of Henri le Saux (Swami Abhishiktananda), a French Benedictine monk in India. His approach is challenging, courageous, and even unsettling in some instances. However, his deep commitment to finding Christ is an inspiration.” – Mobipocket

Interreligious Dialogue – Rethinking Theology – Universalism

“The solution for the crisis of the world must be found in common by all people of goodwill, by all men devoted to truth, in whatever way the truth may have manifested itself in the depth of their hearts. Their dialogue will be a searchlight which will probe the present societies of men, but will first scan the heart of those taking part in it. It will be the test of their allegiance to truth alone in their respective religious or humanist commitments. . .

If you do the Alpha Course, it will surely be the Omege of you.

Alpha Course

On Sunday the 8th July 2012 on SABC 2, a program called “Life 24/7 IV” spoke about the Alpha Course and the benefits of attending.  It presented the Alpha Course as a wonderful 10 week Christian course that anyone from all backgrounds, religions, and viewpoints can attend. It’s supposed to be designed in such a way that people can come to investigate and ask question about the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus and more in a totally hostile free environment. Some people want to get beyond religion and find a relationship with God that really changes their life. Others just come for the close, long-lasting friendships that are built during the Alpha course.  The Alpha course has been around for many years, but it’s gaining in popularity again.

The problem is the Alpha course is NOT what it presents itself to be and is part of Vatican II’s Evangelization program.

The Kuyper Calvinism of Rick Warren

Rick WarrenThe Calvinism of Rick Warren

by Brenda Nickel Friday, 25 November 2011 – http://www.carylmatrisciana.com

Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Community Church in Lake Forest, California often finds himself at the center of controversy for joining hands with those of questionable doctrine and practice. One of the more surprising partnerships in recent years is his attachment to Calvinism and not just any Calvinism but what he cleverly calls “Kuyper Calvinism.” His switch to Calvinism has made for some interesting bedfellows as people on both sides of the issue are now related to one another and trying to manage their new found “cousins” in their family.

Albert Mohler

Announcement

Rick Warren’s shift to Calvinism was officially announced in 2007 when he was accepted into the membership of Together for the Gospel (T4G), a Calvinist organization that began with conservative Calvinists Ligon Duncan, Mark Dever, Al Mohler and C. J. Mahaney for the purpose of promoting Calvinism’s core “Doctrines of Grace” (aka TULIP). Warren released a statement explaining his association with T4G shortly after his acceptance saying, “I know this is going to be difficult for many to accept, but in the famous words of Martin Luther ‘My conscience is captive to the word of God!’ I look forward to building relationships with those with whom I have disagreed for so long. I am excited to now be a part of the Together for the Gospel team.” While this was Rick Warren’s “coming out” event, it’s not his first mention of Calvinism. He’s apparently held to the sovereign predestining purposes of God for some time. » PLEASE CONTINUE READING HERE »

Angus Buchan and the Roman Catholic Reconciliation

Angus Buchan - belfastAngus Buchan and the Roman Catholic Reconciliation

In 2008 I wrote an article on Angus Buchan called The Dominionist Faith of Angus – Faith Like Potatoes and in it I noted the following:

Angus recently went to Ireland and preached to Protestants and Roman Catholics: [Emphasis added below]

**  “This Sunday I will be in Durban and next week I go to Belfast, Northern Ireland to preach to the Protestants and the Roman  Catholics and the whosoevers.” [3]

**  “We saw many healings, salvations and re-commitments and a stirring in the hearts of the Irish people.” … [16]

** “At our meetings we had Catholics and Protestants together, surrendering their lives to Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful time of reconciliation.””[16]

Re-commitments?  To what? ….

Televangelist James Robison Praising Catholic Priest

Because we are living in the last days (and boy are we in the last days), we are seeing more and more ‘Evangelists’ like James Robison turning to Rome, and speaking a message that Pentecostals, Protestants, et al need to come together with Rome and work together on common ground.

Vatican Fulfulls Biblical Prophecy (Rev 13, 17 and 18) – The False Prophet

Vatican Fulfills Prophecy

by Anton Bosch [Note:  Permission received to republish article in full.]

The Bible paints quite a clear picture of the major events that precede the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth. Many of the smaller details may be difficult to interpret but the major events concerning the world’s religious, economic and political future are clearly spelled out in Revelation 13, 17 and 18:

A world religious figure will rise to prominence. He unites all the world’s religions into one universal religion. This religious leader looks like a man of God. He performs miracles and even looks similar to Jesus Christ (Revelation 13:11; 5:6). But, he receives his power from the Antichrist and, ultimately from Satan. He is known as the False Prophet (Revelation 19:20).

A second figure comes on the scene. Whereas the first world leader is religious and unites all people under a single world religion, the second man is political and unites all the world’s people under a single world government. We commonly know him as the Antichrist. The Antichrist does not only unite the world under one political system, but he establishes a single world monetary system which abolishes all private or individual business transactions that are not part of the global system (Revelation 13:17). » PLEASE CONTINUE READING HERE »

C.S. Lewis – Narnia, Chronicles of Deception

C.S. Lewis - narniaC.S. Lewis’ Narnia – The Voyage of the Dawn Treader : Chronicles of Deception

Author: Olabode Ososami |  June 21st, 2010

It seems comical for lack of aptitude to apprehend the literary “Christian” master C.S. Lewis – even as we stampede theatres to watch the next Christmas holiday “Money Spinner” milking (in the same genre as Harry Potter and Christmas Carol) the occult fantasy cow – supposedly packaged as Christian allegory to transfixed congregations. My prediction that this will be another chart-buster does not qualify me as a prophet.

Clive Staples Lewis was born in Ireland, the younger of two sons who claimed to have been converted to Christianity in 1931 and was, as he put it: “A very ordinary layman of The Church of England.” Undoubtedly a literary genius who authored 40-plus exceptional books which included poems, novels, children’s books, science fiction, theology, literary criticisms, educational philosophy, and an autobiography.

I did see the trailer of “Narnia – The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” and with admittedly limited research/listening to related interviews and previews … the broad nice message of goodness over evil seemed inadequate to dispel my reservations. The strong inclination to spread the gospel of salvation by avoiding consecration and marketing the appeal of its other noble themes while also denying the Spirit is not new. What is novel (to me) is the » PLEASE CONTINUE READING HERE »
