John Piper – Oh those ‘Secondary Separation Issues’!
I’ve been looking for an example in the bible of this thing called ‘Secondary Separation issues’ that John Piper is now actually bulling his followers with. And I can’t find one.
You see, no where in the bible did Jesus or the disciples socialise with people who they knew were false Christians. In fact they stayed far away from them because of the DAMAGE these people do.
John Piper fails to understand that he has compromised the gospel of Jesus Christ by hanging with Rick Warren. This is not a school friendship where they meet every now and then and play board games on Sundays, no, they are Pastors which means that when they meet they will be to speak theology to each other. Unfortunately Rick Warren has won round one of infiltrating John Piper’s camp.
John in the video is telling us he wants positivity around him (love, humility and unity) and he is tired of being enemies with people. But it’s not about being enemies, it’s about the GOSPEL TRUTH John Piper! And how much of it have you compromised? Well so far you have done well to fall for the cosmic Christ that Rick Warren follows. I pray you wake up soon before it’s too late.

John Piper Interview: Rick Warren is “Biblical” – “He’s Been Slandered”
In a Christianity Today interview with popular evangelical teacher John Piper, Piper is questioned for his recent invitation of Rick Warren to his Desiring God conference, which brought criticism to Piper. In the interview, Piper states the following:
CT: You invited Rick Warren; would you say he exemplifies [your] “thinking”?
Piper: No, I don’t think he exactly exemplifies what I’m after. But he is biblical. He quoted 50 Scriptures from memory. Unbelievable, his mind is Vesuvius. So I asked him what impact reading Jonathan Edwards had on him. What these authors like Karl Barth and Edwards do for him is give him a surge of theological energy that then comes through his wiring. What I wanted to do with Rick is force him to talk about thinking so pragmatists out there can say, “A lot of thinking goes into what he does.” (emphasis added)
CT: You received some negative feedback for inviting him.
Piper: It was real risky. I don’t even know if I did the right thing. If somebody said, “Are you sure you should have invited him?” “No.” I think the first thing I’d say—maybe the only thing—is I think he’s been slandered. I think we probably need to work harder at getting him right. (emphasis added)

Rick Warren slandered? Bwwahahaha, now that is funny. John Piper, Rick Warren has never been slandered and don’t ever say you are now too. Pointing out false teaching is NOT slandering. And who has not worked hard at ‘getting him right’? All the thousands of articles and people who have spoken to him trying to show him that he is wrong. But you actually contradict yourself, first you say he is biblical, and then you say we gotta work harder at getting him right? *Coughs and mumbles something under my breath* Is that the excuse you are going to use to keep Rick Warren by your side? Thankfully THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE can see right through you.
So as we can see folks John Piper has truly fallen for Rick Warren and the New Age Christ. What a disaster. Who is next? I think we might see a domino effect.

I don’t know enough about Rick Warren to comment on him – he’s not such a big deal here in the UK. But I can’t help feeling that the tone of the article and comments here leans somewhat towards relishing the idea that “we were right all along”. It kind of seems some people on here enjoy others being wring so they can feel superior because “we’ve got the truth.” But tf what I’ve read above is true perhaps the right response is to get on our knees and pray for these people and recognise that we are, in the end, all the same – weak and sinful individuals all prone to error and unbelief.
Also I think it’s pretty difficult to assert than Rick Warren has “never been slandered.” You think nobody has ever said anything about him that is untrue, unkind and inaccurate? If so he’s pretty unique for a guy in the public eye! That was a cheap and untrue comment designed to make the “Deborah” look right – but the point of truth isn’t to look right – it’s to bring it with compassion to people who need it.

2. Rick Warren preaches another gospel that is contrary to the Word of God – Rick Warren aims to unite all religions together (Ecumenical)
3. John Piper a Baptist minister now takes sides with Rick Warren – much to the SHOCK HORROR of his congregation
4. Pointing out FALSE DOCTRINE is not SLANDERING SOMEONE.
5. I think you should get your facts straight before you come and comment again.
Andrew reveals his lack of discernment and knowledge by his touting on his blog of Mark Driscoll and his Acts 29 site. Also Tim Keller. Clearly Andy has not done his homework and until he does, his comments are not worth considering.

I think the problem here is not John Piper or Rick Warren, but in our need to follow men rather than God. Perhaps John does not weigh his affiliations so carefully because (for him) pursuing, loving, seeking, and taking pleasure in Christ is #1. I don’t get into these debates with people, because I’m trying to point people to Christ, not to Rick or John or Joel or whoever. Yes, heresy should be pointed out, but always in love. I agree with Andrew: these men are not such a big deal. Making a big deal out of Christ is what we should all be about. Including you, Deborah.
Andrew’s comments are worth considering because what I get from most of you who have commented here is, as he said, an exclusionary, holier-than-thou attitude and an “I was right” mentality that has no place in the Kingdom. Andrew is one of the few who exhibited any love or compassion in his response.
I don’t agree with everything Piper says or does, but he’s doing far more for the kingdom than I have, so I keep my mouth shut. I don’t commend him or condemn him – I commend Christ and condemn sin. God is the judge of people. Who are you to judge another man’s servant? (Ya’ll need to spend more time in Romans chapter 14!)

False teaching on marriage with covenant spouse by John Piper…
John Piper is right on about divorce/remarriage except when it comes to the “now whats”. That is where everything he previously teaches becomes unravelled/makes no sense. Are first marriages/covenant marriages binding til death according to God’s Word? Yes. Does Mr. Piper teach this? Kind of. If an adulterous remarriage takes place, he counsels for such couples to remain together. How is that possible when he teaches that NOTHING dissolves the original covenant outside of death—even adultery? He then teaches that the “left” one—the one who has remained unmarried must remain unmarried—they cannot marry another…………yet their covenant spouse is living in adultery with another person and this is ok? How has one partner been freed from the covenant (or allowed to enter into a polygamous marriage), but the other is still bound? I hope and pray Mr. Piper straightens out his flawed doctrine before he leads others down the road of sin thinking they can remain in adultery, continuing to dishonor the original covenant they entered into and it be quite ok with the Lord.
Hmm…On this board, I can’t find a single word of interaction with anything Rick Warren has ever written or said…

UPDATE- Piper continues to align himself with false teachers, Christine Caine, Carl Lentz, Crowder and more. Passion Conferences 2013-2016 He stood with false teachers at Lausanne Conference in 2010 at Capetown also. He has practiced mystical lectio divina. He affirms theistic evolution and extraBiblical revelation. He has also been with Tope Koleoso- charismatic- at Jubilee Church in England. This is an issue of FIRST degree separation that he fails to even remotely regard!
2 John 9-11 says,
“Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.” So. Piper is “participating in their evil deeds”- makes him ‘wicked’ also.
Then anyone who might align with Piper (oh and also Matt Chandler who has done the exact same thing) would be partaking in not second degree separation, not first, as Piper (Chandler) become “wicked” as the ones they align with.
