Kobus van Rensburg – Self Anointed Prophet

kobus van rensburg photo

Kobus van Rensburg – Self Anointed Prophet

Kobus van Rensburg (Spirit Word Ministries) is a ‘prophet’ from South Africa. He follows the word of faith doctrine and dominion theology. I have watched him a few times on TV and all I can do is just shake my head in dismay – he is one of those preachers that can talk for hours but says nothing. When he gives a prophecy it rhymes like a poem! And he views himself in a very good light as being extremely sought after to bring the ‘good news’ to the nations.

——————–

KOBUS THE PROPHET:

kobusvanrensburg-aboutKobus van Rensburg has appointed himself as a prophet and Kobus van Rensburg has a pace setting church. I ask, how can one set the pace of Christianity? No human can determine the future of the Church. I think what Kobus means by this statement is that he (along with many other so called ministers) are setting the pace for deception and the ushering in of the anti-Christ. His Church’s main focus is signs and wonders – interestingly enough these signs, miracles and wonders appear without the preaching of salvation. Miracles only ever happened in the New Testament after the Word was preached, to confirm Gods Word of salvation, never before.

T.B. JOHSUA AND KOBUS VAN RENSBURG:

kobusvanrensburg-biography

Kobus says that he and his wife are the ‘sole’ founders of Spirit Word Ministries. So is he saying that God had nothing to do with it? Hmmmm…But here is the clincher. Kobus went to see T. B. Joshua. Now, if you don’t know who T. B. Joshua is, then let me give you a brief outline. T. B. Joshua is also a self proclaimed prophet that has openly commented that he was born with his power. He produces ‘miracles’ like it’s going out of fashion and says they are from God.

He has a big poster hanging in is temple that says; ‘There is no deity (god) except Allah.’  And then a crucifix hangs near the poster.” There is no question that Joshua sends mixed signals. Although he prays in the name of Jesus, many of his methods are unorthodox. He converses with angels during sermons, speaks of traveling to other places in the spirit realm and has been known to ask people to walk through the audience naked to prove their healings. Some Nigerian leaders claim that animal sacrifices have been performed in Joshua’s church to generate a source for occult power. The pastors contend that this is the reason Joshua does not travel to other countries to conduct meetings.” 1

TBJoshua-AllahJesus

Now Kobus says that the ‘signs and wonders’ in his church increased after he visited T. B. Joshua and the ‘Holy Spirit’ fell on him in a ‘very special way’. Last time I checked when one becomes saved you instantly receive the Holy Spirit for he leads us into all truth and is our comforter. You don’t get saved and then on another occasion receive the Holy Spirit. There is not a second or third time either to receive the Holy Spirit. When you accept Jesus into your life the Holy Spirit comes to abide in you immediately. He is not just attached to specific people and He is not more powerful with certain people either and He certainly cannot be transferred through touch or whatever medium T. B. Joshua used to pass this spirit onto Kobus van Rensburg. So Kobus with all his godly anointing went and sought after a man with demonic power and it was passed onto him. Remembering that T. B. Joshua said he was born with his power…so it does not come from God to begin with.

PS:  there is only ONE anointing Kobus – not multiple ones and this ONE anointing is NOT transferable.

Kobus says he is bringing the ‘Light and Fresh Glory’ into the church of Jesus Christ. What a horrendous comment to make. Jesus Christ is the Light and Glory of the church. But Kobus says he now brings fresh light and fresh glory into the church as though the message that Jesus Christ taught, that’s stood the test of time is stale. So Jesus, salvation and repentance of sin, the complete gospel message of the cross is boring and what Jesus spoke has no relevance in this day and age.

You go on to say that you are a sought after pastor because you ‘reveal present day truths’. What on earth does that mean? There is nothing new over and above the bible; the Word of God remains the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Yet you expand on the bible and bring forth new revelation constantly. The old message is no longer applicable to this 21st century, the old message no longer applies to our world and culture and this is why there is a NEW message with NEW truths. Well I am sorry Kobus, but there are no new truths and no new revelations, and anyone who claims to have such things preaches a gospel that is contrary to the true gospel of Jesus Christ.  If you claim the Word of God as final and at the same time claim you have new truths for this day and age then you contradict yourself – which is it?  You can’t have your cake and eat it.

WHAT HAPPENS AT SPIRIT WORD MINISTRIES

Watch his videos on his website where he slays people in the spirit. He uses words like BAM BAM (I wonder if he taught Todd Bentley?) as he knocks people over with his invisible power like he is some kind of super hero. But interestingly enough he also makes a swoosh sound which I have heard before in other preachers who slay people using the same ‘spirit’. Who are you channeling Kobus?  No where in the bible is anyone knocked over like this, and when people did fall it was in judgment or willingly in reverence to our Lord Jesus.  – The manifestations of your ‘holy spirit’ are likened to Kundalini.

Kobus says that in meetings where he is preaching Jesus Christ is really showing up.  Really?  Wonder if he is speaking about Himself.

Jesus specifically said in:

Matthew 24: 23

“Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christ’s, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

Kobus, tsk, tsk…have you considered that the Jesus that is showing up is a false Christ (let me explain further; a fake Jesus Christ) or are you making this up to deceive others into thinking you are really anointed, that Jesus Christ Himself would grace you with His presence?

ADVERTISEMENT FOR A CRUCIFIX ON THEIR WEBSITE:

kobusvanrensburg-crucifixadvert

AND THEY FOUND WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR:

kobusvanrensburg-crucifix

Why are you seeking a Roman Catholic Crucifix? With all your ‘anointing’ (multiple ones at that), how did you come to ignore the Holy Spirit on this issue? Did you wake up one morning with biblical amnesia and forget that Roman Catholicism is anti-Christ? Or is it because you actually believe in Ecumenism and that one day soon you will have a sermon on the Holy Mother of God and another sermon on all religions lead to one God? Judging by the fact that you visited T. B. Joshua I would say the latter rings very true.

Jesus Said It Is Finished!

By Keith Green:  The Catholic Chronicles 2

“Every true believer loves the sound of these words: It is finished! (John 19:30). For it is the wonderful exclamation that the Lords suffering was finally over – He had fulfilled His mission! Jesus had lived a Life of Sorrow, bearing the burden of a world gone mad. He had been rejected by everyone, even His closest friends. He had lived a perfect life before men and God, and His reward on earth was to be laughed at, spat upon, beaten beyond recognition, and finally nailed to a cross. But He had submitted willingly, because it was the will of His Father to offer Him as the satisfaction of the penalty for all the sin in the world – past, present and future!

But here, in the words of a Roman Catholic priest, is the true meaning of the words it is finished! These words do not declare that His sacrifice was finished, but that He had finished His former, normal, earthly life and was now fixed in the state of a victim. He then began His everlasting career as the perpetual sacrifice of the new law. Hence, according to Rome, Jesus must be forever perpetually dying for sin.

Have you ever wondered why in every Catholic Church they still have Jesus up on the cross? Every crucifix with Jesus portrayed as nailed to it, tells the whole Catholic story – Jesus is still dying for the sins of the world! But that’s a lie! We need only look to the Scriptures to see the truth.”

SIGNED PRAYER CLOTH:

kobusvanrensburg-prayercloth

It says, “God has really anointed Prophet Kobus van Rensburg in this ministry of miracles. Carry this cloth with you or just put your hand on the hand of Prophet Kobus & agree for your miracle.”You’ve got to be kidding. Just put your hand on the hand of Prophet Kobus and agree for your miracle? – with advertising and everything printed on the same cloth. Are you God? Oh wait, you follow word of faith/dominion theology;  of which Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Morris Cerullo, T. D. Jakes and a whole host of others say ‘yes, I am a god’  This is Latter Rain Manifest Sons of God teaching. They believe that when you accept Jesus Christ into your life you actually start to become like Christ, you become a little god…really…I wish I was kidding, but its true people.

It’s not that God has anointed Kobus, it’s that Kobus has a little god anointing.

Folks, I don’t know what kind of spirit comes with this cloth (well actually I do), and it is NOT of God. The spirit that is passed on at these meetings is a counterfeit holy spirit that appears good but is not. I am told that people are really healed when Kobus prays for them. I don’t doubt that for one second. Satan can perform healing and he is not dividing his kingdom if he takes away an illness and gives you something more damaging, like making sure you follow Kobus’ false teachings right into his clutches.

REVIVAL:

On Kobus’ website in the following sermon:4

“Kobus says, only when the all things have been restored will Jesus come again. He is going to stay in heaven at the right hand of the Father. From God’s presence must first come times of refreshing. That refreshing will cause the restoration. If we seek God, we will get revival. If revival comes, restoration of all the things of which the prophets of old spoke about will come and then Jesus will return.”

Africanaquatics says:3

“This is Restoration/Dominion theology which advocates that Christians should take power of the earth, create dominion and then, only then, will Jesus come back. Not only does this belittle and demean our Saviour, but it makes men into little demi-gods. What is fundamental to understanding the last days before Jesus comes back, is the fact that Jesus Himself said there would be an APOSTASY, a falling away, before He comes back. NOT a Revival! Anyone who preaches or prophesies revival of the western church (the church of Laodicea) in the last days is biblically illiterate.

The Laodicean church is lukewarm, comfortable, rich, preaching what people want to hear, not what they should be hearing and if you read Revelation 3, Jesus is ready to spit this church out of His mouth! How true this is of the church of today!”

What does the Bible say?

2 Tim 4: 3-4

“3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

2 Peter 2: 1-3

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.”

Jer 5: 30-31

“30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; 31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so.”

KOBUS VAN RENSBURG ON CARTE BLANCHE – 21 Aug 2005 [5]

Well know, this is telling.  Ruda Landman interviews Kobus van Rensburg with regards to his ministry and healings. Quotes below:

Ruda Landman (Carte Blanche presenter): ‘How does it feel when you’re standing there and this power, this spirit, is running through you?’

Kobus: ‘It’s not me. I think it is I have found a secret how to allow God to flow through me. Like a big pipe that is connected to the water tower; if you open it, the water will come out.’

[DTW note:  You have found the secret?  Why is it a secret Kobus?  Where in the Bible does God have secrets and why are you the only one with this secret and no one else?  The only knowledge that is secretive is the Occult;  hidden wisdom.]

Ruda: ‘Don’t you think it could be dangerous, sometimes physically dangerous, that there are things that might be happening that you don’t… you are not a doctor… you don’t understand what is going on?’

Kobus: ‘No I don’t think so. I think I am busywith God’s business and God will vindicate for us. I am not trying to exalt Kobus van Rensburg, I am not trying to exalt myself.

[DTW note:  You sure sound confident that it’s really God that is working through you.  You think you are busy with God’s business?  You think?]

Kobus: ‘Or as Romans 2:7 says, we must seek immortality. Now we are not made to die, that’s right. Everybody fights death. We are not made to die.’

[DTW note:  Errr, immortality on this earth you forgot to mention.  Genuine Christians have eternal life in Heaven.  What you are speaking about is Mysticism, Christ consciousness teaching.  That we should seek to be gods on this earth, and gods are immortal.]

Kobus: ‘Why can the world prosper, but the church are not supposed to prosper. I produce the Kingdom of God, I present Jesus Christ, I give people life, I give them the Word, I give them healing, see. So they give me money. That’s how the word of God always operated.’

[DTW note:  YOU produce, YOU present, YOU give people life, YOU give them the Word, YOU give them healing?  So you are a little god!  Please supply 1 verse to to show that when Jesus healed people they gave Him money?]

KOBUS CAN’T BE TOUCHED, HE IS ANOINTED, HE IS A PROPHET;  WITH A SPIRIT HE THINKS IS FROM GOD:

kobusvanrensburg-anointedImage taken from a website dedicated to Kobus Van Rensburg:  http://spiritword.222.co.za

Wonder what the number 222 represents and why Spiritword would have chosen it?   Let’s go see:

*  Oneness vs. Division

* “The numerical value of these three “offspring” letters, “Beis,” “Chaf” and “Reish, is 222, reflecting the divided components of creation.”

* “But this division is only superficial, for in truth, all existence is part of G-d. Judaism recognizes no duality in creation. The oneness of G-d, the cosmic “Aleph,” pervades all existence, filling each centimeter of space and each millisecond in time with its spiritual energy, that vibrates in every blade of grass, every human heart and every grazing animal. This oneness is concealed and veiled, allowing for the perception of a divided world of “222.” But in truth, the entire cosmos is really one giant Aleph” 6

  • Pantheism – God is All
  • Panentheism – God is in All
  • Therefore Kobus van Rensburg is a god; part of one giant Aleph.

CONCLUSION:

Kobus van Rensburg is NOT anointed, he is NOT a prophet, he is NOT a god and he sure as nuts does NOT operate under the Holy Spirit. For if he did, he would NOT be doing what he is doing, preaching what he is preaching and visiting the men/women he is visiting.

My mom and me went to a meeting of his in Cape Town. He prayed for my mom for she walks with a frame with wheels because of her back. I was shocked about the way he preaches. I immediatly told my mom that this guy has no respect for GOD. As the meeting went on and he said that he was saved whlie he was a “hippie”, I let my guard down a bit. He then prayed for the sick and cripple. My mom was prayed for as well and she walked to the car without her frame. Me me pushing it, but at home the next morning, she grabbed her frame again. Still today walking with it. Maybe she doubted again, but I am sertainly not so sure about his annointings. I too believe that he is a false proffet using the LORDS name to benifit himself. You should see the amount of money the people put into his baskets. It’s all about the money!!!! Beware Kobus. Our Lord is not mocked or used.

  • Discerning The World

    Annali

What happened to your mom has got nothing to do with her faith in Jesus. What happened to her was unfortunately demonic. It’s a temporary ‘healing’ that takes place. I pray your mom realises what happened to her, and in no way thinks that her walking with a frame again is because there is something wrong with her belief in Jesus and that her belief is not strong enough or whatever.

This is the bondage ‘they’ like to put people in. I would like to ask for your mom to just ask Jesus to forgive her for going there and ask Jesus to just remove anything that might have attached itself to her – like something that might keep reminding her that she lacks faith amongst other things. We always say sorry for the silly things we do because we think it’s of Jesus but it’s not Him and a deception.

I am glad the Holy Spirit is in your life and you listened to Him sounding the alarm bells.

And I have no doubt Kobus collects tons of bucks. I know of someone who went there to get healed (fortunately she was not prayed over) but he had put pieces of paper on each chair where a person could give their details to have money taken from their account each month via a debit order.

PS, there is only 1 annointing and that is when we are truly saved the Holy Spirit comes to abide in us and He protects us and warns us, every believer has discernment. But sometimes we don’t listen and find ourselves in a trap. You can’t pass your annointing (being saved) onto someone as Kobus would love us to believe, but you can pass on demonic spirits. Also we go directly to Jesus in prayer for everything – we do not need to seek these things via other people. Having said that God has his reasons for everything He does. We are born into a sinful world, with sickeness and everything, we as Christians will suffer like everyone else, but we have eternal life and all our treasures lie with Jesus when we meet Him soon.

    Stand strong Annali!!

  • “He has a big poster hanging in is temple that says; ‘There is no deity (god) except Allah.’ And then a crucifix hangs near the poster.” There tbjoshua-allahjesusis no question that Joshua sends mixed signals.”

Please, excuse me. Have you ever been to his church? There IS NO PICTURE OF ALLAH! My eldest sister has been an evangelist in this ministry for over 18 years and has never seen this bogus picture you came up with. By the way, where did you come up with it? photoshop? That’s a cheap trick. I would advise everyone viewing this site to proceed with utmost caution. The authors of this site are misled. Let us pray for their spiritual awakening. And remember, the name Jesus has power indeed but only among those who are committed to the glory of God – not those who are committed to blackmail, campaign of calumnies, slander and gossip. May you receive the new revelation you need.

    >> “He has a big poster hanging in is temple that says; ‘There is no deity (god) except Allah.’ And then a crucifix hangs near the poster.” …… By the way, where did you come up with it? photoshop?

Prof Tom Gouws wrote an article in “Beeld”, an Afrikaans newspaper in Johannesburg – 2001. In fact I will post the entire interview in my next article.

    >> I would advise everyone viewing this site to proceed with utmost caution. The authors of this site are misled

I would advise anyone reading these comments to proceed with utmost caution as the authors of these comments are comming directly from TB Johsua’s follower possibly even staff members.

    >> Let us pray for their spiritual awakening.

A Spiritual awakening eh? hehe Nothing elese? Maybe peach the Gospel of Jesus Christ instead of occult rubbish.

    >> And remember, the name Jesus has power indeed but only among those who are committed to the glory of God

Ohhhh so your ‘Jesus’ only has partial power. My Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ the Only Son of God has power over everyone and everything because it says in His Word:

    Philippians 2:9-11

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

My Jesus Christ the Son of God HAS COMPLETE POWER.

The power you speak of is this; that YOU have POWER only by using the ‘name’ of Jesus and if you use the name of Jesus you will only produce godly things. Welllll I’ve got news for you DIRECTLY from Jesus Christ written in His Word:

    Matthew 7:21-23; 21

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?‘ 23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

This verse applies to you. People who use the name of Jesus and produce false signs and wonders.

    >> May you receive the new revelation you need.

Is that a threat? But then again, my Jesus Christ the Son of God sits at the right hand of the Heavenly Father. The ‘Jesus’ you speak off is not Jesus Christ. Therefor I do not worry one bit of the words you speak, they have no power what-so-ever.

    Thank you Anisa!

So Curry Blake was there? That’s very interesting!! Curry Blake is the general head overseer-er for John G Lake Ministries. The guy is a smooooth talker. I’ll post a video one of his tv broadcasts on this site in my vodpod collection. Then I’ll post a link under this article.

I’ve seen the videos of Kobus lining up people with crutches and walking sticks and telling them they were all healed. He then ripped their crutches, walking sticks and walkers from them and told them to walk. They were mostly old people. I felt sick to my stomach.

He grabbed and ripped their walking aids from them!! Some walked off and threw their hands in the air thinking they had been healed. Others tried desperately to walk normally as the camera zoomed onto them. Kobus would then let these ‘big huge’ ushers which looked more like body guards force the people on their way as their walking sticks and crutches all piled behind them in a big pile.

I wonder how long it took them to get their stuff back.

I wonder if one can take photos at his church? Maybe I should email him and ask. If he has nothing to hide then I should be allowed to take photo’s.

    >> today we have the Holy Spirit, He replaces the the prophet. we are longer in need of prophets, and ppl that need healing need to seek out Healer

    That’s it!!

  • Anisa Sulaiman

my dearest brothers and sisters, this weeekend i went went to Spirit word ministry as my mother in law insisted that her healing was there, if she walked through that pool.
we sat nine hours at this church. the ushers and hotesses were absolutely mean and nasty.

as we walked in, we were attacked to fill in partnership forms. then we were moved from seat to seat to accomodate everyone else.

the service started at 6pm, they had praise and worship for an hour. from 7pm to 8pm they read out emails that people had written to Spirit Word. from 8pm until 10.30pm a pastor by the name of curry blake preached.

i hate to type long stories, but all i want to say is that this kobus van rensburg is a total fake, his preaching does not align with the Word of God, infact he has funny paintings of Jesus riding a horse? like hello? Jesus never rode a horse, He rode a donkey! i just think its idolitary in his church. paintings and statues. he puts oil in his so called pool of miracles – people are bound to slip and fall, theres no bloody annointing there! oil and water dont mix, 20 people laying hands on you? and then he removes pples crutches and walking sticks? ppl leave there worse off than they got there? like where does this guy get his doctrines from, i think he is plain down insane and crazy!!

  • Anisa Sulaiman

i would also like to say that, in the old testimont prophets were the mediator between God and the people, prophets were the voice of God, they brought the message from God to the people.
today we have the Holy Spirit, He replaces the the prophet. we are longer in need of prophets, and ppl that need healing need to seek out Healer, not a pool! or Kobus van rensburg.

  • Anisa Sulaiman

i must say i witnessed the mocking with my own eyes besides hearing what other ppl had to say. i can back your statement up anytime.

I find it so sad what goes on here slagging this one and that one and this and that. Why dont you all worry about your own lives about getting your hearts pure before stop judging this one and that one. God will judge and expose who he needs to not by my mouth or your what Kobus does he will stand before God one day who are you to say anything are you God???

  • Tim

I recall the teaching of Jesus, when being accused by the Pharisees that he was doing the good work he (Healing etc) did he did by demonic power. He at the time said that a house divided against itself won’t stand. Now I don’t know much about Kobus or much of his ministry but I do know he call’s on the name of Jesus. Even if there has only ever been one authentic healing that has ever taken place there, I do know that he accredits this to the power of Jesus, something that the demonic realm is not able to do. I also remember a scripture that Jesus said if they are not against me then they are for me, speaking of people who where healing in his name.

You your self said they the Holy Spirit leads and guides people! Well let him do that work then, he has not died and appointed you a “watch dog” of the church. If you are a Leader in the context of your church then lead the sheep in your care in the way of the Lord, but to publicly malign and accuse people who minister in the name of Jesus is not fitting in the with scripture. Jesus himself only ever condemned self righteous teachers and not those who are in Sin or error. Paul the author of Romans etc only ever confronted teachers who brought legalistic practices to the church. If you were truly concerned for the truth of the Gospel you would not be writing and slating people on your forum but would be praying for and impacting the world for God.

I am not against you or against Kobus. If he claims to be a Christian and ministers from that place, then so be it. Who are you? If you claim to have the truth and don’t agree with him then continue as you are! Jesus is moving in these days, we all agree that he is closer now than he has ever been and only one thing will count in the end. Not you words against people or even your warnings or words of caution, but rather the lives that through you came to the beautiful knowledge of Jesus and the redemption he gave himself up for.

Grace and Peace to you all in Jesus.

  • Discerning The World

Well Tim, would you be so kind to find scripture of any kind to back up that Kobus is a man of God? And that he does in no way teach another gospel? I’m ready, are you?

Let’ see you go find the BEST verse(s) you can find to back up that it’s ok for Kobus to go see TB Joshua who is a witchdoctor and believes that all faiths can come together as one? That should be a really easy verse for you to find. Once you have found it..come post it here. Then what will happen is that I wont reply, becuase you answered your own question.

  • Discerning The World

    Cas:

You said: What I do struggle with are the comments you make on the annointing of God. Since when EVER in the word of God, does it state that the demons can heal????

Re-read what I said. Demons can not heal. But they do afflict and they can take away their affliction and replace it with something worse, like dragging you deeper into deception and believing false teaching. They are after souls. Satan could care less for your health, but He is a deceiver is he not? Make something look good when it’s not? Hmm…indeedie

You said: Please do not call the annointing of God demonic. It is blashpemy and extremely dangeroes and therefor the scripture that states, touch not the annointing and do my prohets no harm

Oh here we go. First you mis-interpret what I way and then your tell me I am being blasphemous and then use the cliche, ‘touch not the anointing’. And this is dangeous how?? It’s more dangerous to run after false teaching and have a false spirit laid on you.

Did you know there is only 1 annointing?? That is when you are born again you receive the Holy Spirit. He does not leave and then come back again, and then leave and come back again everytime Kobus ‘throw those crutches away’ van Rensburg tries to annoint people over and over again.

    Sighs…

  • Cas

Brother, all I know is that no one can call Jesus, the Son of God, Lord unless he is born again. Salvation and teaching, as we can see throughout history, are NOT directly related to one another as many have gone astray in their teachings although being born again.

I pray for you that your love and passion for the truth does not turn into the bashing of other born again believers as it seems you are borderline, but hey, what do I know about you seeing that we have never sat around a table to fellowship :) Your heart is probably “pure” in what you believe although I must admit that for me personally, it cannot be seen in your responses nor your comments.

Let us encourage each other in love and truth and not with the “I’m right and you are wrong” attitude as this does not bring edification to the body of Christ but is rather like a cancer eating away at it. Are we not commanded to edify one another. You may be right about Kobus, who knows, but your behavior is borderline immaturity when you attack people when they criticize your viewpoints…just like I’m sure you will attack the statements I make here.

I do not agree that the Bible has been placed in our hands to be used as a bashing tool but rather for “edification, doctrine, teaching etc”. Never once in the ministry of Jesus did He even hint that He was right and everyone else was wrong and NEVER not even once did He use scripture to even bash the pharisees of the day. In fact when the pharisees challenged Jesus on whether or not he was the Son of God He replied to them: “does not YOUR scripture say that you are god’s”

Adultary is using something which is sacred for your own fleshly gains thus if Kobus is doing this, then he is adultarating with the word and the same goes for you when you use something that is sacred for proving your fleshly views.

Jesus Christ is the Lord of ALL creation Lord of the seen and unseen church, the Son of the Most High God, and He is the first born amongst many bretheren. Let us rather say like Paul that “I do not want to hear anything preached amongst you but Christ and Him crucified”. This proverbial “mine is bigger than yours” attitude does exactly the opposite as it is not about Jesus, but more about your oppinion vs. his oppinion.

So in the end because we are looking at this post the questions remain: “Is Kobus right in all he does?” – the answer is a simple No. “Are you right in all you do?” – the answer is again a simple No. The gifts (or as the mainstream church would call it – the 5 fold ministry) has been given UNTO US for the EQUIPING of the SAINTS UNTIL we ALL come to MATURITY. This means that “the 5 fold ministry” is NOT mature. Let us go on to perfection with our EYES SET IN JESUS who is the author and finisher of our faith. It doesn’t say “with our eyes set on man (aka Kobus or even yourself)”

In short, this blog does not mount to much but only to promote strife and also diverting the focus from the author and finisher of our Faith, one Christ Jesus in whom we live and move and have our being in THIS LIVE.

Maybe I’m deceived in your intentions but like the order of the day (pharisees) their aim was also to knock Christ. Now we know that Christ is a lot larger than one man and constitutes a body, so by knocking Christ (or any part of the body) you are sitting in the seat of the self righteous pharisee as that was their aim as well, to proove that Christ was not whom the people said he was.

Just to also set the record straight, I have read your article and I agree with some of the facts that if they were true, that it would be out of line like you say that Kobus has proclaimed himself as a prophet etc.

What I do struggle with are the comments you make on the annointing of God. Since when EVER in the word of God, does it state that the demons can heal???? This is disturbing to say the least. Your comment to Annali about the healing that her mother received is “demonic”, is crazy. Jesus many times said to the people “let it be unto you as your faith” and they were healed. Faith does have EVERYTHING to do with it when we come to Jesus. When Jesus comes to us, it has nothing to do with it. Check out all the healings of Jesus in the gospels. When He approached people, like the blind, the guy at the pool of Bethesda etc. they did not need faith, but when people approached Him, they always needed faith like the guy who’s son was demon posessed or the lady who suffered from the “issue of blood”. When we approach Jesus our faith heals us and if we do not have enough, then we can ask and Jesus will meet our faith. Do not misinterpred this now as me saying that Kobus is Jesus – I’m not crazy – but that Annali’s mother’s faith had everything to do with her healing.

Please do not call the annointing of God demonic. It is blashpemy and extremely dangeroes and therefor the scripture that states, touch not the annointing and do my prohets no harm. Prophets are old testament as we now have the Spirit of prophesy. Annointing is something that is of today and which is there to enable us to do the work of God. There is NO other God apart from our God so please do not make a silly comment like “which God”. Paul says it as well, for us there is NO other God.

Having said all this, let me close if off my saying I appreciate people like you who has a passion for keeping others on track and I want to encourage you to do it out of a maturity of love. We should judge one another to see of “which one we are” but let our judgement be righteous not profaning the Word of the almighty and let our judgement lead to repentance and not to the “cutting off” of the body of Christ as we are all one body, one bread.

  • Cas

I couldn’t agree more with you that there is only one annointing and only ONE Holy Spirit for that matter.

In terms of the misinterpretation, agreed, I might have misinterpreted what you intended to say. Sorry for that.

One thing though is that I cannot find it in scripture where demons make you sick / afflict you, then take it “off” as you state and then “put it back on again”. Do you have some scripture that I can have a look at? Maybe I’m just missing it somewhere and it would be great if I can have a look at it…

One more thing, could you also please show me the scriptures that state that either the devil or the demons are after souls and in particular human souls and if they find them, what they will do with them? You probably have something down these lines…

I do however believe that there is a fundamental difference in what you and I believe about the devil and his purpose etc which is something to be taken “off-line”. You can mail me if you wish on the mail provided in the post and then we can discuss it further. No need to risk “confusing” people who may read our posts on this topic unless you would like to post a forum on it so that it can be discussed openly.

Hope to read your comments soon… :)

  • Cas

In terms of the comment “put it back again” I do not mean that you said it but implied it by saying “replacing it with something worse”…

  • Discerning The World

    Cas

    >> I do however believe that there is a fundamental difference in what you and I believe about the devil and his purpose

I am not here so discuss the fundamental differences between what the Word of God says and what you believe the Devil’s ‘purpose’ is. This is not what this article is about. You either agree that what is being taught by Kobus is false teaching or you don’t. You either play with fire or you don’t.

  • Cas

I am also referring to the word of God and not to what I believe that is not in line with the word of God at all. In principle there are some things I do take about what he teaches after looking at some of his teachings but not with everything, just as I do not agree with your interpretation of many of the comments you made around sickness & health and faith.

So in all things we are different, but does indifference make us false? By no means at all. If he has appointed himself as a prophet, then yes, that is out of line. Shall I knock all his teachings because of this, by no means at all. We are all to decern the truth as we need not that any man teach us but the Holy Spirit as He is our teacher so in the teachings of all men we should hear what the Spirit says and not just make it all out to be lies.

Deception is closer than you might realize…the strongs translates the devil as the traducer of all men…look it up.

By the way, the only reason why I brought the devil into this conversation is due to your comments about him. You were talking about the deception, the souls, the healing etc.

You still have not answered me in terms of the scriptures…can you find them?

  • Pastor Michael

who anointed Amos to be prophet.Who introduced him.Don’t judge the prophet please.you guys criticize everytone,my address is [email removed] send me the name of some true prophets and evangelist alive.you promote the bad and never highlight the good.Jesus never spent time pointing out darkness,he shined the light – if you are saved remember you are the Light.

  • Discerning The World

Noooooooooooo now that is a seriously NEW revelation. Did Kobus van Rensburg anoint Amos to be a prophet? I can’t believe it!!

  • Cas

All I want to add about prophets is this:

And when He ascended, He gave gifts unto me, some to be Apostles, some to be *prohets*, some to be evangelists, some to be teachers and shepherds…

So earlier I said that I agreed with “descerning the world” about prohets being old testament and that now they are not around so now I repent of this seeing that God is true to his word.

Whether or not someone is a prohet depends on the gift Christ our Lord gives not on the appointing of one self…the fact is, prophets are as real today as they were 4000 years ago.

Can someone please provide the proof that Kobus has annointed himself and appointed himself as a prophet or is it something that others are saying about him? I cannot find it anywhere on his website or in his teachings…please assist if you can.

  • Discerning The World

‘anointed’ ones don’t teach false doctrine and live off their congregation

  • Discerning The World

    >> Let’s not forget that Paul did say that “if I sow spiritual things to you am I not allowed to reap material things from you?” I do believe that Paul was annointed.

Yes Paul also was used by God to wrote most of the New Testament. Paul also never preached falsely. If he did that would make the NT null and void and the Bible full of errors which means it’s not the Word of God.

The above info on Kobus is more than enough proof that he is false. If you can’t see it, then I dunno. And to compare so called apostles/prophets of today to those who were used to write the INERRENT word of God is rather terrible to say the least.

  • Cas

Carnality is to be found everywhere and at all levels.

Let’s not forget that Paul did say that “if I sow spiritual things to you am I not allowed to reap material things from you?” I do believe that Paul was annointed.

The interpretation of this truth is yet to be grasped by the church yet in the pentacostal realm this is very much a reality.

I do think that many ‘pastors’ or ‘prophets’ do misuse their – dare I say – God-given right to reap material things when giving the spiritual, but the measure of that abuse is to be decided by God. So many of them do “ride” the “tithe” horse bare back until the horse is no more due to the fact that they themselves do not understand tithing. Yet, there is annointing and the annointing does rest on them as I am now reminded about the scripture that says :”God’s GIFTS and CALLINGS are without repentance”.

So many are annointed – gifts – but are still carnal…

  • Daniel

Brother, I have read all above and what I can say is that the closest to heaven i have ever been was when i was in Spirt Word. I was on the verge of committing suicide because of people like you, people who give no hope and who promote the works of the devil more that the works of God. I do not doubt it even for a second that Kobus Van Rensburg is the man of God. Where on Earth would we get the kind of teachings we’ve had from Him? IMMORTALITY, NO RAPTURE and many. As Much as I know how lost you are, I would never call you names you are calling Prophet Kobus Van Rensburg. May Loving God Have Mercy on You.

  • sandy

this is total bullshit written…the guy who wrote this has no idea about the anointing of the Holy Spirit…looks like the guy who wrote this article must have had Acts 2 torn out of his bible by somebody…the disciples walked around with Jesus for 3.5 years then why were they asked to wait for the anointing if they had already recieved it…well about TB Joshua there must be something fishy or maybe even about Ren Von Kobus and the way he was anointed from TB Joshua..but let me tell you all one thing the bible only gives the man of God to judge but never to condemn..so if you think you have the rights to tell the world that this man is not a preacher nor he is a prophet..BEWARE OF DIVINE JUDGMENT…for more info u can always get back to me..im always available on the above mentioned email id…thank you..God bless you…

  • Discerning the World

    sandy

the disciples walked around with Jesus for 3.5 years then why were they asked to wait for the anointing if they had already recieved it…

    huh?

but let me tell you all one thing the bible only gives the man of God to judge but never to condemn..so if you think you have the rights to tell the world that this man is not a preacher nor he is a prophet..BEWARE OF DIVINE JUDGMENT…

We are not to judge a persons sin or their lives, but WE ARE COMMANDED to judge the false teachings and the words that they speak. How else do you sort the wolves from the sheep?
I must BEWARE OF DIVINE JUDGMENT because I say he is not a preacher or phrophet? haha and then you say to me “God bless you”? Rightttt… So you curse and bless at the same time? Impressive.

  • cecilia

sandy, August 19th. can we please keep the bulls out of this?! if you said that on a muslim-site, even in 1 of their shops, they would have thrown you out, remember your face 4 all eternity & not allow u 2 b seen or heard at all if they can help it! (i talk from experience, was thrown outa 1 of their shops 4 using the same word, then got convicted by HolySpirit it’s not a good word 2 use anywhere + any circumstance, no foul language should come from a christian’s mouth, especially by “a woman”. so here goes, let go of that word Sandy, get your heart clean… cecilia

  • Hey Deborah

How are you doing? Congrats on the new site, looks great.

Was wondering if you knew anything about what happened to Kobus van Rensburg, saw on Facebook they have a group called” Kobus van Rensburg will live and not die”?

    Regards

    Corne

  • Discerning the World

    Hey Corne

Thanks!! I need to get my twitter up and running again.

No I haven’t seen that. I actually really dont like facebook that website just annoys. But i will go there, for the good of mankind take a look. I think this has something to do that Kobus van Rensburg thinks he is immportal? oh…hold on, this website is referring to him being on his deathbed and will live?

Hmmmmm let me go check it out.

  • Discerning the World

    Corne

Wel I just checked and it would seem like a ton of people praying for him but no where does anyone say what’s wrong. So I went to the spiritword website and nothing on there either. They do however sport a new super cool gym because:

“Looking after yourself is very important; as your body is the temple of the Lord
    Living in a relaxing atmosphere
    Feel good about yourself! “

  • Deborah,

Yeah i found the same thing, not really any details available on the net either.. maybe its stress related?!

Or maybe something picked up in Nigeria

    Take care

  • Discerning the World

    Corne

Might also be ‘advertisting’ – just wait for it, picture it now: he was flung through a wood chipper, nothing left of him but his jewish robe with tassles. His church burst forth screaming in tonuges, insistant that he will rise from the dead the following day. They held vigial all night. Spiritual warfare, blowing of shofars, it was driving the neighbours nut. The next morning, people had come from all over to witness the first ever ‘rise yourself from the dead’. It’s been 2 weeks now, and nothing. Someone has stolen the jewish robe with tassles though.

[EDITED by AdMo: 7 Nov 09 – Does Kobus van Rensburg have Cancer? http://www.discerningtheworld.com/2009/11/06/what-a-tragedy-prophet-kobus-van-rensburg]

  • Deborah,

You must have had some inside information, how on earth did you figure it out?? Very interesting..

  • Discerning the World

    Corne

In word of faith circles this would be called prophetic. I just call it an over active imagination. However I would not dismiss the advertising and trying to raise himself from the dead.

I wonder, if having a gym and beauty therapy on your church property is considered running a business? I also wonder if he plans on a shopping centre, clothing line, housing and access controlled security – all you need onsite. You can get in, but you can’t get out…of Kobus’ kingdom.

Just shows how much money this guy is making. False miracles, power and the promise of being a little god is a lucrative business. See, crime does pay.

  • Discerning the World

    Corne

    >> Or maybe something picked up in Nigeria

    haha

  • Deborah,

Lol strange things do happen in Africa.

Reminds me of the banners i see daily on the motorway here, the new bigger better Destiny church in Auckland, the super church for a super city is its logo.. i’ve read about members selling their property to buy into the church’s property and lots more interesting things going on there, i think it will reach cult-like dimensions soon.. heres a statement for u: ” Never before have the forces of religious, political and social activism converged more powerfully than in the life of Bishop Brian Tamaki”

Enough of that, standing up for the Truth isn’t one little bit easy as some of us know

    Blessings

  • Jake

As much as I think Kobus Van Rensburg is a complete heretic, your writing on this blog is more often than not terribly irresponsible and quite lazy.

For instance, a church that calls itself pace setting is in no way necessarilly claiming to set the pace for all of Christianity. You make this ackward logical jump as if the first automatically implies the second. Couldn’t that simply be a marketing buzz phrase attempting to portray Spirit Word as a contemporary church?

Language is imprecise. That’s why intelligent individuals form opinions based upon an examination of all available evidence in context. Writing a piece accusing Kobus of claiming to set the pace of Christianity based solely upon a single sentence fragment from the church bio belongs with writing in tabloids and high school newspapers.

  • Deborah (Discerning the World)

    Jake

Yeah, ok, so you obviously didn’t read the rest of the article. That’s ok.

  • Jake

One example out of many Deborah. You fail to support your ackward conclusions in nearly every post. I will admit I didn’t read the entire post–it was a bit too hacky for me.

  • Deborah (Discerning the World)

    Jake

Oh shame, I feel sorry that you are so picky. Maybe start a blog of your own I promise to come and visit. If you have any extra information on Kobus van Rensburg that will allow me to write the GREATEST article in the world that you seek, please share – don’t keep it all for yourself now.

  • Michael Anthony

    Deborah,

Phew! The heat in JHB today. Is it just me or do you also hear a fan rattling in the background? It’s this oscillating, annoying cacophony.

  • Deborah (Discerning the World)

    Michael

LOL, I had to read your sentence 3 times before I got it ;) brilliant.

  • Gerrit Grobler

As daar ooit ‘n valse profeet was, is dit jy oubaas. Jy is ‘n waterlose wolk, en jy doen self niks vir Jesus nie. Wie help dit as jy mense kritiseer? Kry jou hart reg man, dis mos nie hoe mense optree wat in die liefde van God wandel nie. Ek het bietjie sit en lees wat jy te se het oor van die manne van God wat ek ken, en dis regtigwaar leuens. Jy is so leeg soos ‘n woestyn.

  • Amanda

    Gerrit

Jy onderstreep die feit dat daar ‘n reuse verdeling in die sigbare kerk is.

    Kry jou hart reg man,

Hierdie frase is nie deel van my woordeskat nie. Dit is anti-Christelik.

dis mos nie hoe mense optree wat in die liefde van God wandel nie.

Jy en die NGK sal meer aanklank vind by hierdie groep.

If you follow a religion but are devoid of the Love of God, then those that do not follow a religion but have the love of God are better.

  • Elmarie A

    Gerrit Grobler

Jy se “as daar ooit n vals profeet was”.

Jou navorsing is baie onakuraat. Haal eers die balk uit jou eie oog.

Kritiseer hierbo nee jy is verkeerd .

Ek vind geen onakurate of verdraaide inligting hier bo nie.

Jy veroordeel sonder feite.

DTW I do hope we can post this information below please.

Ek wil net graag vir jou verdere inligting ook gee om te lees van ander site af.

lying Spirits and the Apostate Church

by Pete on Feb.08, 2010, under Commentary

We find it hard to take when we see Christian leaders who are gifted communicators with many years ministry experience and an excellent knowledge of the Holy Scripture, miss the mark by such a wide degree as to misinform and mislead congregations towards heresy and aberrant doctrines. Even more difficult to cope with is the inability to approach such leaders with the truth. There is nothing more guaranteed to send your Pastor into a head spin than to confront him with the idea that he may be in error, especially if you are not part of the ministry team. Difficult when you are motivated not by a desire to sow discord, but a genuine, God given burden to see the Body of Christ grow in maturity.

The backsliding Church is symbolised by the prostitute wife of the Prophet Hosea. The excellent, Exposition of the prophecy of Hosea, by Jeremiah Burroughs (1599-1646) deals with the issue very succinctly. (thanks to Herescope.com) We are to speak to the Church in love and if that is to no avail then plead earnestly. Only as a last resort are we to leave, but let our witness remain. There is a strong chance that the leadership will have already closed ranks against you by this time. Ultimately it is an issue of conscience and whether or not you can sit by while error is prevalent around you or if the fear of God’s judgement for not attempting to correct the brethren, compels you to speak out.

One way to understand this problem is to acknowledge that the established church’s slide into apostasy is actually a sign of the end times and that the deception which is so prevalent today has been sanctioned by God. The Apostle Paul describes how a “falling away” will occur and how God will send a powerful delusion to those who “love not the truth”. 2 Thesselonians 1-12, and in a rare description of the heavenly council at work in 2 Chronicles 18:21, we see that 400 Prophets were deceived by a lying spirit who was dispatched from the throne room of God himself.

Those who abandon the true Gospel in favour of a theology which has been tailored to be non-controversial, pandering to selfish lifestyles, have brought the judgement of deception upon themselves. God cannot bless such a distorted Gospel. Just as the Pharisees for whom Jesus kept his strongest condemnation for, these people are whitewashed tombs, they contain only death. Yet be forewarned, they may well accuse you of causing division and dissent.

Prosperity Gospel, which turns the call to self sacrifice into self indulgence is one of the major aberrations of the Gospel, as is the promotion of Jesus as a fluffy or soppy saviour who died to save you but asks nothing in return and will give you whatever you ask as long as you name and claim it. Those who live by such standards already have their reward. We are called to speak the truth in love (Eph 4:15) regardless of whether it is received or not. The Holy Spirit will always honour the Truth.

DTW, (just 4 testimonial purposes…) pointed me to the Word of God alone, and I did some inner-searching, got to more Bible reading and less running after “men of God” and whatever their anointing was… and whala! I grew into the Word of God…. so Gerrit – yeah! DTW is doing a GREAT ‘job’! you can read more testimonials like mine all over her blog!

I submitted a comment to spirit word ministries saying that Kobus is no prophet of God.I then kept getting sms,s by one of his employees telling me that i was lost and going to hell. I might be lost mate but im not stuffing my pockets with poor suckers cash who believe your heresy. It is people like you that eventually chase people away from God. God does not make people laugh in the spirit or role around the floor ,if you read your bible you would have known that.

notice more verse 38-it says “REFRAIN FROM THIS MEN AND LET THEM ALONE,FOR IF THIS WORK IS OF MEN-IT WILL PERISH AND IF IT IS FROM GOD..IT WILL REMAIN” V:39-LEST YOU FIND YOURSELF FIGHTING GOD HIMSELF.

Please go do proper bible study your meaning of verses 38-39 being used is incorrect and twisted.

This is the proper meaning of Acts 5:38
Kobus van Rensburg is not a Bible prophet.

    Geneva Study Bible

And now I say unto you, {n} Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of {o} men, it will come to nought:

    (n) He dissuades his fellows from murdering the apostles, neither does he think it good to refer the matter to the Roman magistrate, for the Jews could endure nothing worse than to have the tyranny of the Romans confirmed.

    (o) If it is counterfeit and devised.

    Wesley’s Notes

5:38 Let them alone – In a cause which is manifestly good, we should immediately join. In a cause, on the other hand, which is manifestly evil, we should immediately oppose. But in a sudden, new, doubtful occurrence, this advice is eminently useful. If this counsel or this work – He seems to correct himself, as if it were some sudden work, rather than a counsel or design. And so it was. For the apostles had no counsel, plan, or design of their own; but were mere instruments in the hand of God, working just as he led them from day to day.

    Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

    38. if . of men, it will come to naught-This neutral policy was true wisdom, in the then temper of the council. But individual neutrality is hostility to Christ, as He Himself teaches (Lu 11:23).

    Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

5:34-42 The Lord still has all hearts in his hands, and sometimes directs the prudence of the worldly wise, so as to restrain the persecutors. Common sense tells us to be cautious, while experience and observation show that the success of frauds in matters of religion has been very short. Reproach for Christ is true preferment, as it makes us conformable to his pattern, and serviceable to his interest. They rejoiced in it. If we suffer ill for doing well, provided we suffer it well, and as we should, we ought to rejoice in that grace which enabled us so to do. The apostles did not preach themselves, but Christ. This was the preaching that most offended the priests. But it ought to be the constant business of gospel ministers to preach Christ: Christ, and him crucified; Christ, and him glorified; nothing beside this, but what has reference to it. And whatever is our station or rank in life, we should seek to make Him known, and to glorify his name.

I see I have been commenting on the wrong thread.

Sorry. No nastiness intended. But jealous of what? You have your treasure here on earth that is going to be burned. I look forward to a new heaven and a new earth and a new city:

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. (2Pe 3:10-13)

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (Rev 21:1-8)

Have you realy realy asked the Holy Spirit to guide and lead you into all truth yet?
This is how I see and experience Prophet Kobus: The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But Prophet Kobus don’t live or fight his battles that way – never have and never will. The tools of his trade (THE WORD OF GOD) aren’t for marketing of manipulation, but are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. He use his powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. His tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstuction and building lives of obedience into maturity.

Hello, you requested to “Please supply 1 verse to to show that when Jesus healed people they gave Him money?”

    Here you go:

    Luke 8:1-3
“Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain WOMEN WHO HAD BEEN HEALED of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who PROVIDED FOR HIM FROM THEIR SUBSTANCE.”

I think this will help you understand: http://www.iamaspirit.org/archives/991

    Esteban…
The word is ministered!! Jesus was their host and they provided food and accommodation probably. Do you think the “richest man” in the world would ride a donkey?

Exactly how W.O.F. preachers catches the ignorant…

    This is the real verse.
Luk 8:3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

    G1247

I just want to ask this question…

Immortality is this that really so far fetched?

We all know that God is Good and there is no darkness in him. Why would he then kill christians? He said that he came to earth to give us life more abundantly. I guess if you compare your life to that of people in the old testament there wouldn’t be a real difference. That all depends on how much of Jesus’ salvation your experiencing. I believe he really did bring us life in abundance and we know through the scriptures that by Jesus’ stripes we are healed. When does that scripture become null and of no effect(because we know that healing is for the physical body, why would you need healing in heaven, this promise is for know and here)? If you have a true relationship with God…. it will NEVER become of no effect. We know that Jesus is willing to heal as we can clearly see during his whole life on earth. And the scriptures tell us that He is the same, Yesterday, Today and till all eternity.

There for, accept the enourmous GIFT from God and live free from all condemnation and even death. Like the scriptures also state, if earthly fathers know how to give good and perfect gifts how much more your father who is in heaven. Jesus is the end of the LAW, he nailed it to his cross and took away the reason we still die. Oh Death where is your sting? Thanks you Jesus for a life surrounded by you, and that you have no evil/darkness in you but only good perfect gifts for those who accept what you have done. Please help us all to see your face and be changed into your image. Do you guys think that Jesus would have died if he did not die on the cross? I think he would not have died because he was righteous before God without sin just as we are today in christ. Thank you Jesus for accomplishing that which no human could ever accomplish. THANKS FOR BEING ALWAYS GOOD AND LOVING. If there are people out there that think differently. I know we all will be surprised when the first human hits 200 years of age. What did Jesus come to do then if it’s not this, did he fail to bring us true life in abundance, i think not. Cheers. GRACE BE MULTIPLIED ONTO YOU All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lee

    Jaco,

    >>We all know that God is Good and there is no darkness in him. Why would he then kill christians? He said that he came to earth to give us life more abundantly.

Jaco, God does NOT kill (in the sense of murder) his own children except for them to go be with Him. Don’t be so ridiculous! When Jesus said that verse, he meant he came to give ETERNAL life! People always ask that and it is quite annoying that people can never understand that verse.

    >>That all depends on how much of Jesus’ salvation your experiencing.

No it doesn’t depend on “how much” nothing. You either have salvation in Christ or your not His!

    >>I believe he really did bring us life in abundance and we know through the scriptures that by Jesus’ stripes we are healed. When does that scripture become null and of no effect(because we know that healing is for the physical body, why would you need healing in heaven, this promise is for know and here)?

That scripture speaks of our SPIRITUAL condition firstly! we are healed of our iniquities by Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross, NOT specifically talking about healing on my physical body, this body is still sinful THATS WHY PAUL TELLS US TO PUT OFF THE OLD MAN
Jaco, Word of Faith teaching leads you to believe that God has to heal you everytime there is a problem!!! Truth is, He doesn’t! What if he healed you in spite of your prayers and you never knew Him ehhh? The Christian walk is not a walk in the park – meaning there will be hardships. Go read Timothy and ask yourself why God didn’t heal Timothy of his stomach problem! That should start to open your eyes!

Again you confuse verses that speak about the spiritual foremost with the NOW! Jaco, there is no ETERNAL condemnation for those in Christ, thats what the verse means! Yes Death where is your sting? You can say that when you’ve gone to glory with Jesus! in fact, you shouldn’t be afraid of Death, for the Christian, He/she welcomes it because he knows that eternal life is waiting.

    >>I know we all will be surprised when the first human hits 200 years of age. What did Jesus come to do then if it’s not this, did he fail to bring us true life in abundance, i think not

I will be suprised too! The church I went to, the pastor said that he will live to 175yrs old, then God tells him every year when he needs to pray for an extension! The fact is, that won’t happen, All you have to ask yourself Jaco is why would anyone want to be here for 200yrs in this sinful body when you can go Home early??? I certainly wouldn’t want to! Jesus came to reconcile men to God. He DID not come to give us 200 years of life then to die and go to Hell for eternity. That would be stupid!

  • 'Naia

We will not gain immortality in this life. 1 Cor. 15:52 tells us that we will be changed from mortals to immortals when the trumpet sounds. And no, the trumpet does not sound individually, for we will ALL be changed in a moment (verse 51, 52) both the living and the dead in Christ.

Jesus heals today as He did when He walked in Galilee, because he is the same (Heb.13:8). But healings are not evidence of His favour or power (Matt.7:22,23). And besides, we are not to rejoice in such power but in the fact that we are saved and heaven-bound (Lk.10:20).

But please, my true brothers and sisters in Christ, even when we are rebuking and correcting, let our words be with grace and seasoned with salt (Col.4:6) so that we will not be stumbling blocks. Let us reserve our harshest words for the perpetrators of the deception themselves.
    God bless.

It is interesting to read such condemning comments on this side about Prophet Kobus, the expository teacher of the Word. Nowonder, this is not a debate with him, the question I have, trace the people that claim to have been healed, and ask them what they think of him. In fact it would be encouraging to have this site displaying the impact of your ministry, and how people are being helped for the glory of God, rather than this obsession about Prophet Kobus van Rensberg. I will be visiting your church where answers / solutions are provided unto the heavy laden. Please give the address, after I visited SPirit Word Monistries, I am coming to visit yours to make a comparison, to experience the fruits of your ministry, just to make sure you are not this condemning because you are failing to make a difference in the lives of your followers. I watched a episode of Kobus van Rensburg on TBN where he went to the States to the grave of William Branham. He acted as if he was drunk. He hugged the tomb stone and the grave stone as if he was worshipping the dead, so called, man of God. Who is William Branham. Just a mortal man. Any one who can do that must be missing something in his make up. Any thing this man says or does should not be regarded seriously. He is definitely not kosher. His followers must just be the same.

Which is a shame because people like this prey on the emotionally weak and needy. He is just like Theo Wolmarance and all the health, wealth and faith club. He acts like he is a man of god and very one falls at his feet. He might come across as sincere but he also come across as a charlatan. I would avoid him like the plague.

  • Deborah (Discerning the World)

Yes I saw that episode, Kobus went there to get William Branhams ‘Mantle’. In fact he started to act a little mad at William Branham’s grave and started to chomp away at the grass at the side of the pyramid shaped tomb stone. I would not be surprised if he picked up another demonic force there or two.

This is called NECROMANCY – and the bible condemns it and those who do it.

  • Smuggler

    Hallo Debs !
    I pray you are “coping” . . .

I recently did a very useful Bible study with my home groups about suffering and what to make of it… We also had a look at God’s answer to suffering and I took them to the 7 letters to the seven churches in Revelations.

Apart from the fact that God approves of a discernment lifestyle(Rev 2: 1-3) ,we also read the following regarding poverty and poor living conditions.
Rev 2:8 And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These things saith the first and the last, who was dead, and lived again:
Rev 2:9 I know thy tribulation, and thy poverty (but thou art rich), and the blasphemy of them that say they are Jews, and they art not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
Rev 2:10 Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.
Rev 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

The word “poverty” used in verse 2 is the word ptocheia in Greek and literally means to be “poor, helpless and a beggar, financially poor and in need”. (Greek Word study dictionary- Spiros Zodhiates)
We read that Jesus says that he KNOWS this. Remember, Jesus is talking here in person through the angel to this church!
Now the question begs: What does Jesus do about their poverty situation?
Yep, you guessed it, He commandeers His prosperity-preaching-Apostle to go and tell this church the GOOD NEWS that “Jesus died on the cross to save them from their financial poverty and tribulations!”(this Quote from book of Joseph Prince – Destined to Reign)!
Is this what happened ? NO! What does happen is that Jesus gives John a NEW revelation (which is unfortunately not recorded in the Bible) about the “correct usage” of scripture. He, John, must go and anoint this church with a financial blessing by SPEAKING and PROCLAIMING words of financial blessing and freedom from suffering and they, the church in Smyrna, must in return give him GOLD. This will then make them all prosperous! Apostle John can then trade his donkey for a horse drawn cart with golden curtains and… OK, you get the point ….
Yes, Jesus acknowledges their situation and brings them more “bad” news that it will become even more difficult BUT Jesus gives them a promise with a condition nl. If they are faithful and pass this test, they will be rewarded WHEN THEY DIE !

Interesting to note that this church is NOT commanded to “bind” or “rebuke” the Devil!

Remember, we are living in a TEMPORARY life here on earth. We are sojourners living in tents that might get torn by the storms of live and spring a leak or two … so what? … it is only temporary.

Paul knew this when he wrote: Php 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Php 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
…and then in light of enduring all the above, Paul concludes in the next verse:
Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

This is the true meaning of this scripture. Jesus will give you strength to endure the hardships and also the restraint not to boast when you have plenty.

Fellow believers, this is the God of Abraham, Isac and Jacob whom we serve in Jesus. When HE gives you a reward, it is an eternal reward. It is not an “earthly” reward that will perish someday. No, His reward is a nonperishable, eternal reward that will last for ever and ever.
Let us then pray for the sick and the poor. Lets help them as God instructs you to. If God heals, Praise Him but if nothing changes, accept it and keep on being faithful to Him. We must realize that God allows these “tests” to test us.

I always tell my people that if I say that I am a “Tea bag”, I must be tested. How? You will have to put me in boiling hot water ! OUCH ! not nice BUT it will prove me true or false. I tea comes out of me I am true BUT if something else comes out, I am fake !
This is true then for our faith as well. It must be tested. You must see what comes out in your character when you land in difficulties, learn from it, repent and correct your ways.
Lastly, we are commanded to conform to the image of Jesus.
Heb 5:8 “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered”.
    AMEN ?

    Deborah
Thanks a lot for the enlightenment you shed for us on your informative website regarding the false christs of our lifetime. I would just like to draw your attention on a particular comment you made about the “present day truth”. As you know that the spirits of false christs and false prophets are out there to twist the scriptures, I believe that Kobus Van Rensburg is simply abusing the doctrine of present day truth. I understand the doctrine of present day truth as expounded in the New Testament from the book 2Peter 1:12 “Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.”
My understanding is that present day truth does not necessarily mean that there is the new and stale truth neither does it seek to communicate any new truth outside of scripture. It simply seeks to reveal part of the truth not communicated in the first instance. Examples are as follows:
    – The Samaritan Woman only knew the mountain as a worship centre, but Jesus transitioned her into the knowledge that the worship centre has now become spirit and truth as God is Spirit

    – Apostle Paul states that the law had to be written on stones for Moses to minister the truth of God to Israel, but today we dont need any Moses to go to the mountain anymore as the law of God is written on the tables of our hearts not with ink but with the Spirit of God. (Examples are countless)
Finally the doctine of present day truth helps us understand how God communicates the same truth using different methods that he ordained for a particular generation or season (past, present and future) without opening any room for carnal additions that would lead to heresies. Therefore anybody propagating the doctrine of present day truth should guard against preaching anything outside of scripture.

Please lets engage further on the subject as I need your response and view of my comments above. Once more thanks for keeping us informed of the perils of the present day as prophesied by the holy scriptures.
    Thanks Sister.

I find that this article has a lot of emotionalism and hate. SOme of the comments were perhaps founded but the way they were set out was like some hate movement and i think you too need to go and work out your salvation., whether this guy is the real deal or not you have no right to use the tone you used in your article. where is the love of God here ? You have misguided facts as well basing them on things you read -go there yourself and show us the poster of allah, dont tell me that so and so wrote this -i know the media they lie all the time to sell . You are also a weird one for your interpretation of scripture and what not . get off your high chariot and win souls for the kingdom no fanning hate in the body.

  • Truth

You cannot win souls for the kingdom when you tell people God did not plan for us to die and go to heaven one day because immorality can be attained on earth. And yes, I suppose Paul of Tarsus was very emotional and overtaken by hatred when he wrote:

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:6-8)

We really don’t need misguided facts to understand Kobus van Rensburg’s own words that he was immortal. That in itself warrants Paul’s indictment in Galatians 1. Are you immortal?

  • Deborah (Discerning the World)

    Truth

Hate? Never! You are now lying. Being upset because Kobus van Rensburg preaches a false gospel that leads thousands of people to hell (like yourself) is more like it.

Anyone who claims special or ‘secret’ knowledge of God outside of the canon of the Bible is a gnostic. It is a severe heresy because it is an attempt at self-glorification above Jesus and designed to mislead people away from the true Word do God.
Christians cannot believe in modern day prophets (who claim to speak the word of God), because the Word became flesh and lived among us, and the Word is complete and sealed in the canon of the Bible. Nothing may be added or deleted from it. To believe otherwise is simply in direct conflict with the Bible and consistent Christian teaching.
Van Rensburg, as with many others is a false gnostic prophet who is a forgery. He may look, sound and smell like the real thing, but he isn’t.
    Well done for exposing him.

“Do not touch my anointed”. You better seek God on these witch hunts, for when you come against God, s anointed you come against God Himself. God tells us to choose life. Why do you dispense words of death? Repent before it’s too late. I am praying for you.

  • Darlene

You misinterpret to others, for you lack understanding from God. The anointing of God is His presence for ministry. We all carry a measure of His anointing, according to our faith walk with Him……but when HE sovereignly shows up in a meeting, the
    anointing is stronger, tangible, powerful.
His faith, not ours, takes over. If we walk in
    self righteousness, judgment, pride, etc
His anointing will not be released to fools.
He will not be mocked. There is a corporate
anointing Walking in the anointing is learned through experiencing with God….not with the mind.

  • Darlene,

How sure are you that your so-called anointing is from God and not from Satan? Satan wants you to experience things in stead of relying on God’s Word.

  • Darlene,

We really do not need your prayers when you first curse us and then piously say you pray for us. How long was Kobus van Rensburg’s corpse kept in your church while you and others prayed for his resurrection and NOTHING happened? You are so right, I don’t want to touch him with a ten foot pole.

Kobus van Rensburg was influenced by Kenneth Copeland and others who tried to explain the anointing in various ways such as the following insightful words from KC’s site on understanding the anointing:

*Anointing, as described in the Bible, can be defined as “God on flesh doing those things that flesh cannot do.” It is God doing those things only He can do, and doing them through a flesh-and-blood, earthly vessel*

Read carefully that he states that there are things that only God can do. KC then carries on to say that God would do the things only He can do “and doing them through a flesh-and-blood earthly vessel” insinuating that KC and like minded false prophets and apostles could then do the same? KC quotes 2 Cor 4:7 to back this up:

2 Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us”.

Typical of false preachers is to pounce on a word such as “power” and misuse its meaning to imply miraculous power bestowed on “the anointed” by God. Context as we should know by now is all important.

Now Darlene you say that: “The anointing of God is His presence for ministry”. It seems that “God sovereignly shows up” in meetings? (nogal). Scripture to back this up? No, so your prophet has this knowledge that he took to the grave with him?

I have personally heard Kobus van Rensburg use four letter words from the pulpit and also Angus Buchan (on YouTube) use four letter word. Not that using a four letter word would be a requirement to be called a false preacher or apostle, but control of uttering such while “under the anointing”?
The likes of these guys will never fail to amaze, but hopefully only the deceived will be amused.

I recall that Deborah or Thomas asked for examples of “healings” done by KvR. I can say that I know of a man from Cape Town that was “healed” of a heart condition to only die of this condition a couple of years later at an age that would be considered young by today’s standards. So I sincerely believe that had this man sought medical attention he would have been alive today – but he kept on insisting that he had been healed.

So according to Darlene: God’s faith takes over in KvR meetings? If God had taken over the heart would have been only partially or “for a short while” been healed? Think lady think……..

  • […] Prophet Kobus van Rensburg from SpiritWord Ministries who passed away recently from a long battle with cancer went to see T.B. Joshua in Niger to receive power from him.  Kobus van Rensburg who claimed he could heal pretty much everyone could not heal himself.  This is what the lie of thinking you can heal people can do people, they believe their power is from God, it’s not, it’s purely Satanic.   —Kobus van Rensburg – Self Anointed Prophet […]
