Guilt by association does not go down well with people who like to mingle with other people who happily accept false teaching – especially when they know the person they are befriending is not Christian.

In the Ecumenical worldview you are supposed to ‘show grace’ to everyone non-stop no matter how much they twist the Gospel of Jesus Christ to suit their desires.

The idea behind this notion is that if you don’t continue to show acceptance to someone of another faith you will never get them to accept Christ.  Sounds great and works well if you are in nursery school.  But when you grow up, you realise that this is a complete and utter fallacy.

Mankind is wicked and mankind will NEVER change. So for mankind to be ‘nice’ and ’merciful’ and ‘loving’ to fellow mankind is an utter joke.  And anyone who thinks this is even remotely achievable must surely be joking.  The Bible says man is wicked, mankind’s heart is wicked and the path is narrow.  That few will follow Jesus Christ and many will follow after false Christs who teach false doctrines.

The new age Christian gospel is: 

• If you smile and speak nice words to others and mention you are a Christian you will be seen to be a nice, loving Christian person. 
• Do not tell someone that what they believe is wrong – this is not Christian. 
• Do not offend anyone by telling them something they don’t want to hear. 
• Do not preach the genuine gospel of Jesus Christ (the full message of salvation and repentance of sin) as this will chase people away – if people run away, you can’t convert them to Christ.
• The whole point of new age Christianity is that you want to keep the person as close a friend as possible to convert them to your way of thinking.
• If you are always the ‘nice’ one, no one can ever fault you for being in the wrong.
• All faiths have a common denominator and that is the New Age Christ.
• Always agree to disagree.
• If your statement of faith sounds good then the person or church is 100% Christian.
• You have to be accountable to someone ‘human’.  So first man, second God. 
• Always make sure you can give the name of a person or church you are accountable too – so they can vouch for your Christ-likeness. 
• Do not think that Jesus Christ counts as someone to be accountable too, or preaching the correct gospel for that matter.
• Never ever warn anyone about someone who once seemed Christian and is now teaching false doctrine and leading people astray.
• Warning is a good work, so is repentance of sin.  Building bridges is not a good work, it’s just hard work, like following Christ.
• And you can’t be held accountable for mingling with false teachers and ungodly people, because associating and agreeing with someone who is non-Christian is just not biblical.  It’s called love.

2 John 1:9-11

⁹   Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.  ¹⁰ If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;   ¹¹ for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

So how does one overcome this problem of being guilty by association.  Well, it’s simple.  You say, ’I no longer agree that this person speaks the truth, and I no longer support them.’ 

If you made a mistake and were once upon a time fooled by someone proclaiming to be Christian and it turned out they weren’t, you speak out and say;  ’Yes, I was fooled, but I saw the error, I repented to Jesus for disobeying Him  and I no longer want anything to do with this person.’  etc, etc, etc.  Simple. 

We are all prone to deception.  If we say we can’t be deceive then we probably are.   We have too constantly be on the lookout for thieves.  Some thieves comes dressed in slightly more expensive ‘sheep’s clothing’ than others.  This makes it a bit more difficult to spot the lose stitching.  But give it time and they come undone.  They always do.

We forgive these people and we move on.  We don’t continue to invite them over for supper in the hope they change their minds. One can ask Jesus for forgiveness of ones error at any time or place and sometimes outside the front door is a good place to start.

We all make mistakes, but a genuine Christian will realise our error (with the conviction of the Holy Spirit) /we admit it (mostly ashamed) / we repent (we have asked Jesus to forgive us for disobeying Him)  / we don’t do it again because we love Jesus Christ.

The wolf makes a mistake / he is caught / he repents to the public / he changes his shaggy sheep outfit to new sheep outfit and carries on as before.  Example:  Benny Hinn has repented a few times for major things he has done, like stealing money and preaching false teaching.  But did he change his ways?  No.

  I might fall into the grace is more powerful than truth camp but hear me out anyway.
  Jesus was continually confounding the law hungry religious who defined their doctrine in tight set ungraceful ways. He annoyed them enough to get himself on the cross. I believe Christian’s can very quickly take on the same wall building mentality of those Jesus spoke most harshly against. Jesus won people over by grace not law. It is also very easy to judge others as sinful etc. and show very little regard in changing ones own ways. I just feel Christianity has damaged the world enough with its Crusades and its Apartheid accepting ways to warrant any more wall building us-them attitudes. We ought to be those confessing to others of how badly and how un-Christlike we have have treated them… David

  Really? Who said this ‘Christianity’ was Christian? I certainly don’t see it to be Christian. So your entire argument is based on nothing. Therefore we do not need a new way of doing things or a new Christianity like Brian McLaren so urges. Because there was nothing wrong REAL Christianity in the first place. Jesus Christ is perfect, Jesus’ gospel is Perfect, man corrupted Christianity. To say that Christianity has damaged the world enough makes you anti-
  Christian.

  And Jesus won people over because they saw HE WAS THE SON OF GOD and fell on their knees and REPENTED OF THEIR SIN.

  I agree that we should distance ourselves from false teachers.
  This is a word in season as many, many believers are going to be faced with the choice, compromise or split?

  There is a Biblical procedure based on the Prophecy of Hosea.

  I just feel I do not know your Jesus. Jesus Christ, God in human flesh, preached the Sermon on the Mount. That is Law, not Grace.

  The emergents would love to converse with you about a gentler Christianity that the world would love. Christians are not interested.

  I believe the word you were looking for was “Pharisee”.

  The NT, especially the sermon on the mount is a whole new take on law and grace and grace is the most fundamental aspect of it. Read Ephesians. The beatitudes in Matthew 5 says God will bless those who are gentle and lowly, those who are merciful. We are called to love our enemies in the Sermon on the Mount, not to take revenge etc. I do not trash law and neither did Jesus but Jesus defined what the true motive of the law was… Love God and Love your neighbour as yourself. Our neighbours are those who don’t think like us or act us like. I would hope Grace and Truth would work together for the glory of God, but if we have not love for the world, that is all people, the people that God created, I dare say we are on the wrong track.

  Is a statement of faith going to seal the deal for you that I am a born again Christian? It can’t. Many copy and paste statements of faith that sound absolutely brilliant and when you read their websites after a few pages it’s clear that what they believe is different to their statement of faith.

  When you meet ‘Christians’ at church do you ask them for their statement of faith or do you just presume that because they are at the same chuch as you that you must both believe in the same Jesus Christ?   And technically I do not like the term fundamentalist, I see it as an insult to be honest. The gospel of Jesus Christ is not a cult. Born again Christians are called this name by non-christians. I understand what you mean however, but don’t take this name as something to classify yourself by.

  You are right that people do not necessarily keep to their statement of faith because it is normally very general statements. I do agree that the ultimate test is the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I however disagree that it does not “seal the deal”. There are a few key Christian faith principles which if declared will at least tell people where you stand for example the Trinity, virgin birth ,resurrection of Christ. Even the Apostles’ Creed will suffice. People do not have the time to work through all your comment to find out what you agree or disagree.

  I suppose you have a few co workers because the sheer quantity of the material presented can not be done by one person.
  I also get the idea that you also value certain people’s views highly because certain comments you make look like copy and paste comments from other apologetics. With this approach you indentify yourselves anyway with certain people and their ‘general statement of faith’

  I also note that you receive many comments that you “throw the baby with the bath water” if you know the expression. In your apologetics there should be a difference between discerning mistakes made by genuine born again Christians (where reprimanding is adequate and done personally and not publically unless they do not listen) and outright false prophets and teachers which we should oppose.

  You probably get so much hate speech that it has influenced your tone of speech as well. Please see the difference the way Jesus dealt with Peter, the disciples, Judas, Pilatus and lastly the Pharisees when he addressed their iniquities.

  Ag nee Louis come now…”Matt 18″ loaded language. I am sure that every person who has the ability to preach falsely has the ability to know they are false and has been spoken too before.   Lastly, I am gifted with the memory the size of an elephant, it can sometimes be a bit of a problem for some people when I have massive memory recall.

  My statement of faith: The Word of God WITH every basic and huge fundamental contained therein.

  Education: Can read and write.

  Achievements: Managing to sleep after reading how much the world has been deceived on a daily basis.

  Hobbies: Wondering how ‘Pastors’ actually got as far as they have, studying for so long as they did, with no one speaking to them or ‘dialoguing’ with them in all that time about the truth. Oh that’s Matthew 18 in case you did not notice.

  But let’s forget about men warning you and take this wayyyy further than that – let’s take Matt 18 to a spiritual level. Where is the Holy Spirit in your life and when will you start listening to what He has to say.

  I think you asked for a definition of “funametalis”? In English, fundamentalism was a reactionary to liberal theology. It holds to the following,

  1. the inerrancy of the Bible,
  2. Sola Scriptura,
  3. the virgin birth of Christ,
  4. the doctrine of substitutionary atonement,
  5. the bodily resurrection of Jesus,
  6. and the imminent personal return of Jesus Christ

  Um, was that a question? And is this an answer?

  Hello, I am new to this blog and my first post has yet to be moderated, but I felt I had to respond to certain comments above about how Jesus related to people and whether or not He erred on the side of grace.
  Firstly, Jesus never even attempted to “Win people over”, He proclaimed the Truth with authority and people either accepted and acted on His words, or they didn’t. According to the Gospels, Jesus didn’t “win over” many people at all. (Pity He didn’t have the PDC program to help Him make His ministry a success) ;-p
  His preaching invariably began with the word ‘repent’ and as far as I can see, He never told an audience of unbelievers that He loved them. Jesus bluntly told the disciples that He had come to bring division, not unity, and that they were to shake the dust off their feet as they left a house or city that rejected the call to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. We are told by the writer, that Jesus loved the rich young ruler in Mark chapter 10, but Jesus never actually SAID that to the young man, why? He never called after him and said; “Please don’t leave, if you only knew how much I love you, you’d comply with my instructions in a second. Why don’t I try and put it in nicer language, that isn’t so threatening and confrontational? Maybe then you’ll agree to follow me?”
  As has been shown here already, Jesus didn’t mince words when dealing with deception, or false declarations, but called a spade, a spade.
  Many people remember these words of Jesus to the adulterous woman; “Neither do I condemn you,..” , but few recall that His next words were: “Go and SIN no-more.” Jesus never used a euphemism, when a perfectly good word like SIN, or ADULTERY, or FALSE TEACHER, existed already.
  Did He love people? Absolutely! But He was a straight shooter for sure!

  May I say too that I like your sense of irony, or sarcasm if you will. Although most ‘Christians’ today wouldn’t agree, I can find plenty of Biblical accounts of men of God and God Himself using the same ‘tone’, when speaking against foolishness. OH No! Now I’ve gone and used hate speech!
  Oh well, you can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs, as they say.
