ANC likens Madiba to Moses

NEWS 24 – 2010-07-15 22:46

Johannesburg – The ANC on Thursday paid tribute to former president Nelson Mandela likening him to Moses, who rescued the Israelites.

“Madiba is like the biblical Moses, who took the children of Israel from the land of bondage to the promised land, the land of milk and honey,” spokesperson Jackson Mthembu said in a statement.

“We salute his leadership and his selflessness,”

Mthembu urged South Africans and the world to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to those less fortunate to celebrate Mandela’s birthday on Sunday.

“This is a day when all of us, regardless of our race, sexual orientation, cultural beliefs and our political orientation and affiliation, must say in unison, thank you Madiba.

“Thanking him for his show of leadership and love to humanity.”

‘True democrat’

He said the ANC would have failed in its duty if it did not learn from Mandela.

“… Apart from making a call to all South Africans and the world, the ANC will practically engage in a programme that will ensure that we replicate what Madiba stood for.”

Mandela was a “true democrat, a revolutionary and a selfless leader”.

“As he has said many times that ‘it is in our hands’. Madiba is correct; it is now up to us to qualify what Madiba said and do something useful for our communities.”

On Saturday, ANC officials including President Jacob Zuma will wish Mandela a happy birthday in Houghton.

The party’s national executive committee (NEC) would be deployed across the country on Sunday.

What hands are our hands if we do not follow after the Holy Spirit?
Oh come the day! when Christ will rule!
Rev 21:4
(4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Until then we will just fail miserably for it is not in our hands but His, our work then not to save the world, but to show that our only hope is Christ.

I just had a thought. I wonder what is going to be said on Sunday at churches like Lewende Woord, Moreletta and Rhema and others. Just a thought.

The world is indeed becoming a sad place by placing Idols/People on pedestils. And sad to say even some Christians are placing more value on people than on God. It saddens me indeed.

John 14:1-3 (Amplified Bible)

1DO NOT let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me.

2 In My Father’s house there are many dwelling places (homes). If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare a place for you.

3 And when (if) I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.

These words above comfort me may they also comfort you.
