BROTHER IN CHRIST?
BROTHER IN CHRIST
Jesus advised his disciples to do what the Pharisees told them to do, but not to do as they do.
. . . so practice and observe everything they tell you, but do not do as they do; for they preach [things], but do not practice them (Matthew 23:3).
One of the most troubling legacies that has persisted from the Pharisees of Jesus’ era to contemporary religious hierarchies is the phenomenon of double-mindedness, which can be more directly described as hypocrisy.
Hypocrites love to tell you what to do by substantialising what they tell you to do from Scripture, but fail to follow their own spiritual directives. A to the point example is Jack Hibbs’ pronounced opposition to Roman Catholic doctrines; however, he consciously overlooks these differences and refers to Catholics as his brothers in Christ to advance political agendas that align with conservative ideals.
Gavin Newsom, the current Democratic Governor of California and a committed Roman Catholic, may pose a challenge to Jack Hibbs’ willingness to refer to Roman Catholics as his brothers and sisters in Christ, given their differing political perspectives. Might it be that Jack Hibbs sees Gavin Newsom as his brother in Christ as well?
WHAT JUSTIFIES THE DESIGNATION OF BEING A BROTHER IN CHRIST?
It appears that your status in Christ may no longer dictate the nature of your relationship with others; rather, it seems to be influenced by your moral and ethical perspectives shaped by your specific political beliefs. This shift represents a divergence from the original gospel to another gospel, along with a different Jesus and a different spirit.
Jack Hibbs of Chino Hills Calvary Chapel in California is a modern-day Pharisee, particularly in his collaboration with Roman Catholics to promote Christian ethics and morals in the political arena, despite his on the face of it strong criticism of Roman Catholic doctrine.
This is demonstrably an example of modern-day Pharisaic double-mindedness and hypocrisy. With one hand, they pat one another on the back, affirming that they are pristine brothers in Christ, while with the other, they strongly oppose one another’s religion.
During an interview with Republican Michael Gates, who is running for Attorney General against the current Democratic Attorney General, Rob Bonta (November 3 2026), Jack Hibbs called Gates his brother in Christ.
Jesus prayed:
“That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” (John 17: 21).
How is it possible for two vastly different individuals with opposing belief systems to find unity in God, thereby being celebrated as brothers in Christ? In fact, God says somerthing completely different,
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2Corinthians 6:14-18).
To make such a profound statement, one must acknowledge that both have been eternally saved through grace alone through Christ alone by faith alone and not through the egregious Roman Catholic doctrine that asserts,
“If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema.” (Council of Trent, 1545-1563).
While Jack Hibbs adheres strongly to the principle of “sola fide,” Michael Gates, a devout Roman Catholic, does not share his belief. Had he embraced it, he would have been anathematised by his Church and summarily excommunicated, according to the Council of Trent which is still in force in the Roman Catholic Church.
Nevertheless, Jack Hibbs expresses no hesitation in referring to him as his brother in Christ, which, in essence, undermines the integrity of the Gospel of God and diminishes the significance of Christ’s perfect sacrifice on the cross. Would Jack Hibbs call Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses his brothers and sisters in Christ?
Multiple reliable sources, including reports regarding Michael Gates’ campaign announcement for the role of Attorney General in California, suggest that he was brought up in a sizeable Catholic family.
In numerous speeches and interviews reported by outlets like the Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Chronicle, Gates highlighted his background, characterising it as one that emerged from humble circumstances within a “very, very large Catholic family.” He recounted experiences of living from pay check to pay check and shared memories of accompanying his mother and sisters to the local church food pantry to secure necessities such as food, clothing, and diapers.
He has previously referred to himself as a “lifelong Catholic,” particularly in 2020 when he supported a social media post that included an image of St. Michael.

The representation of St. Michael is commonly used in numerous conservative and religious settings to symbolise ideas such as “spiritual warfare” and “upholding the boundary.” This imagery is frequently disseminated within political circles.
Social media posts, particularly from Catholic-oriented accounts, explicitly identify him as Catholic in relation to his announcement regarding the Attorney General candidacy in mid-January 2026.
There appear to be no credible indications that contradict this assertion or suggest that he does not identify as Roman Catholic. While his campaign aligns with conservative Republican positions, he consistently presents his personal religious identification as Catholic.
It is evident that Jack Hibbs should have been aware of these facts prior to his interview with Michael Gates, during which he affectionately referred to him as “my brother in Christ.” Unity in political affairs has increasingly become the benchmark for measuring brotherly love, rather than reflecting the salvific love exemplified in Christ as described in biblical teachings.
CHUCK SMITH’S CANVASSING FOR BROTHERS IN CHRIST
It should not come as a surprise, considering that Chuck Smith, the founder of both the Calvary Chapel and Jesus People Movements, shared similar sentiments on Roman Catholicism.
This is not the first time the members of the Calvary Chapel fraternity have shown their ecumenical colours. In his 1993 book, Answers For Today, Chuck Smith, Founder of the Calvary Chapel Movement, wrote the following:
CS: “Paul points out that some say, I’m of Paul,’ while others say, ‘I’m of Apollos.’ He asked, ‘Isn’t that carnal?’ But what’s the difference between saying that or saying, “I’m a Baptist,’ ‘I’m a Presbyterian,’ ‘I’m a Methodist,’ ‘I’m a Catholic’? I have found that the more spiritual a person becomes, the less denominational he is.
So, let’s put our petty doctrines aside [so that we may become more spiritual] – aka Angus Buchan. You are not a Catholic because you carry the name of Catholic. You are Catholic because your entire religious life is based on certain doctrines. In this case, to name but a few, it would include Marian veneration, the transubstantiated Eucharist, which is idolatry at its worst, good works, and Purgatory.
The aversion to Roman Catholic doctrines may be expressed indefinitely; however, once they are referred to as brothers and sisters in Christ, the aversions are effectively brought to nought
CS: We should realise that we’re all part of the Body of Christ and that there aren’t any real divisions in the Body. We’re all one. What a glorious day when we discover that God loves the Baptists! – And the Presbyterians, and the Methodists, and the Catholics. [DTW comment: May I remind you that God not only loves the Baptists, the Presbyterians, the Methodists, and the Catholics, He loves te whole world and wants all to be saved (John 3:16;
We’re all His, and we all belong to Him. We see the whole Body of Christ, and we begin to strive together rather than striving against one another. But, as long as a person is filled with a haughty spirit, he will show the mark of carnality rather than real spiritual growth and maturity. (p. 214; PDF Edition). (Emphasis added).
Carnality is the outcome of an individual possessing minimal or no discernment in matters of spiritual significance. Genuine Christians will agree that the most significant spiritual concern of the Bible is salvation. Jesus Himself said that His primary objective in coming to Earth was to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).
He aslo said, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.(Matthew 7: 13-14).
The terms “many” and “few” suggest that not everyone will be saved, indicating that not all of the different religious persuasions referenced by Chuck Smith are in Christ, which excludes them from being considered brothers and sisters in Christ.
Unless, of course, carnality is your priority and you refuse to acknowledge any doctrinal differences between true Christianity and false ones (Roman Catholicism).
The phrase “We are all children of God” is a deceptive mantra that is not only prevalent in pagan religions but has also become widespread in evangelical circles.
Jack Hibbs could just as well have hosted a Muslim on his show instead of Michael Gates, a Roman Catholic. How is that so? It is because Islam shares more similarities with Roman Catholicism than it does with the Bible. Former Roman Catholic, Mike Gendron had the following in one of his newsletters: (Mike Gendron’s assertions on Roman Catholic and Islamic connections – Church of God News)
COMMON BONDS BETWEEN ISLAM AND CATHOLICISM
Will the world’s two largest religions converge and be the catalyst for the prophesied one-world religion? At first glance, the two faiths appear to be vastly different, but under close inspection, they have more common bonds than differences. In 1994, the Vatican issued a publication entitled “Spiritual Bonds Which Unite Us: 16 Years of Christian-Muslim Dialogue.” After extensive study and research, I put forth 10 common bonds that will help unite these two religions.
- Both Esteem and Honor Mary – Muslims and Catholics both call her, “Our Lady.” and venerate her as a pure and holy saint. Mary is mentioned more in the Qu’ran than the Bible.
- Both Seek Messages from Apparitions of Mary– Many of the messages make it clear she is coming for all her children including Muslims, Catholics and Protestants and that people of all religions can be saved apart from Jesus Christ as long as they are good.
- Both Are Anti-Semitic – The Vatican has issued over 100 anti-semitic documents and taught the Jews should be cursed because they killed Christ. Mohammed words recorded in a hadith, say, “The last day will not come until the Muslims destroy the Jews.”
- Both Embrace Another Jesus – Catholicism has a counterfeit Jesus whose death on the cross was not sufficient to save them. Islam also has a counterfeit Jesus (Isa) who did not die on a cross and is not God, only a prophet.
- Both Seek World Dominion – Both religions rule with an autocratic government and have a history of forced conversions and killing those who oppose them. Could these religions which control people with indoctrination, intimidation, and fear, be a precursor to the rule of Antichrist?
- Both Deny the Authority of Scripture – The pagan beliefs of both religions stand opposed to the Bible. Muslims reject the Bible as the final revelation from God, declaring that God has revealed a final testament: the Qur’an, which is their supreme authority.
- Both Use Prayer Beads to Avoid Punishment – Catholics pray the rosary to remit punishment for sin. Muslims use 99 beads that correspond to the names of God. Praying to Allah five times a day is an act of obedience to escape the punishment imposed on those who do not pray.
- Both Take Pilgrimages to Obtain Favor from God – Catholics take pilgrimages for religious purification and the promise of indulgences. Muslims take pilgrimages to Mecca, a mandatory religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime.
- Both Have Human Mediators – Catholics rely on the priesthood to dispense salvation through sacraments and seek Mary to intercede with God on their behalf. Muslims rely on the intercession of Muhammad on judgment day. He will prostrate himself before Allah who will say, “O Muhammad! speak, it will be heard; and be given; intercede, and it will be approved.”
- Both Have a Works-Righteousness Salvation – Allah will place one’s good and evil works on the divine scale: “Those whose scales are light are those who lose their souls in hell” (Sura 23:102,103). In Catholicism, sacraments, good works and obeying the law are necessary for salvation.
Many so-called men of God, including Jack Hibbs, are being sucked into the New World Order vortex without them realising it.
Amir Tsarfati posted the follow warning on 16 April 2026 on his Telegram.
John Guandolo is a former FBI Special Agent and counterterrorism expert. He’s warning that Islamic schools inside America are teaching Muslim students to take over America.
He reveals he has curriculum from Texas schools that teaches if Muslims die trying to kill all non-Muslims, they’ll be rewarded in the afterlife
“Why is it that what our leaders say about Islam is exactly opposite of what Muslims teach Muslim children about Islam in US Islamic schools? [Good question. In order to maintain the narrative that Islam is a religion of peace, they must align with the Roman Catholic gesture of their mutual brotherhood and kinship with Abraham –THE ABRAHAM ACCORD]
I have here the most widely used tabletop book of Islamic law in North America. What it says is the purpose of Islam is to wage war against non-Muslims to establish Sharia Law on earth.
Right here – the 3 duties is jihad. This is a picture of a tank.
If anyone dies in Jihad, they automatically will go to paradise – we have found copy of these in Texas in multiple cities. Islam is a totalitarian system governed by real law.
We’re losing the war in Texas, and we’re gonna lose if this isn’t rapidly turned around.”
While Trump is winning the war against Iran, Islam is taking America from within.
BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE GREAT MOSQUE OF ALGERIA
What is the difference between Pope Leo XIV visiting the great mosque in Algiers and Jack Hibbs hosting a Roman Catholic for political ends on his show and calling him a brother in Christ? I dare say – NOTHING. Both are trampling the Name of Christ underfoot..
