Die Stert Tussen die Bene Calviniste

Die Stert Tussen die Bene Calviniste

Tail Between Legs stert tussen bene Calviniste

Dit het alles so begin.

Dirkie het nog altyd, soos die Engelse sê “ran with the hare and hunted with the hounds.” In Afrikaans noem ons so ‘n persoon sommer ‘n twee-gat jakkals.

‘n Ander ou wat netso kwaad was, het na my verwys as “a rhinoceros with a dead conscience,” “a piece of rotten meat not even an hyena would be tolerant to eat,” Nog andere (ook hardekoejawel Calviniste) het na my verwys as “Antichrist” and a “moron” (Matthew 5:22) en “a person beyond evil.”

Ag, jy kon amper letterlik ‘n speld oor die internet hoor val nadat my kommentaar geplaas is.

Tom, dankie vir jou belangstelling in my blog.

Dis darem so tipies van “stert-tussen-die-bene-weghardloop-Calviniste.” Ek het skaars in ‘n opvolg kommentaar my standpunt kon stel toe ons “stert-tussen-die-bene-weghardloop-Calvyntjie” soos volg skrywe:

Here Jesus, ontvang my gees! (Handelinge 7:56-59).

Die “Westminster Confession of Faith” stel dit so:

Die Engels sê dit so:

“God from all eternity, did, by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will, freely, and unchangeably ordain whatsoever comes to pass . . .”

Siestog!

Edwin H Palmer skryf:

All things that happen in all the world at any time and in all history – whether with inorganic matter, vegetation, animals, man or angels (both the good and evil ones) – come to pass because God ordained them. Even sin – the fall of the devil from heaven, the fall of Adam, and every evil thought, word, and deed in all of history, including the worst sin of all, Judas’ betrayal of Christ – is included in the eternal decree of our holy God.

[If] sin is outside the decree of God, then the vast percentage of human actions . . . are removed from God’s plan. God’s power is reduced to the forces of nature . . . Sin is not only foreknown by God, it is also foreordained by God. In fact, because God foreordained it, He foreknew it. Calvin is very clear on this point: “Man wills with an evil will what God wills with a good will . . . (Edwin H Palmer, The Five Points of Calvinism: Baker Book,. enlarged Edition. 20th prtg, 1999, 82). (Klem is bygevoeg).

[W]e hold that God is the disposer and ruler of all things — that from the remotest eternity, according to his own wisdom, he decreed . . . that, by his providence, not heaven and earth and inanimate creatures only, but also the counsels and wills of men are so governed as to move exactly in the course which he has destined  . . .

In short, Augustine everywhere teaches . . . that there cannot be a greater absurdity than to hold that anything is done without the ordination of God: because it would happen at random. For which reason, he also excludes the contingency which depends on human will, maintaining a little further on, in clearer terms, that no cause must be sought for but the will of God  . . .  I say, then, that . . . the order, method, end, and necessity of events, are, for the most part, hidden in the counsel of God, though it is certain that they are produced by the will of God  . . . (John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion, trans. Henry Beveridge [Wm. B. Eerdemans Publishing Company, 1998 ed.] l:xvi, 6,8,9). (Klem is bygevoeg).

(Johannes 3:19-20).

(Jesaja 5:20).

Hy is sleg.

  • Hi Wickus

Tom quoted from a Calvinist website called for the love of his truth and they contacted WordPress and filed a legal complaint. They shut Tom’s blog down.

I then asked Tom if he would join me here at DTW. So we moved Tom’s blog across.

  • Dankie Marthina. By God is niks onmoontlik nie.

  • Wickus

Thanks for the reply Deborah!! Typical Calvinist, if they can’t silence you through debate they just shut you down!! So sad indeed!! I’m glad Tom has joined you in standing up for the truth!! Keep up the great work and may God bless you!!

  • Deborah (Discerning the World)
