Todd Bentley – Restored and Changed

Rick Joyer - Todd Bentley
Rick Joyner

A Note From Rick Joyner: “When one goes through the kind of restoration Todd has been through over the last year and a half you usually come out stronger in basic Christian disciplines and character than ever. I feel that is certainly the case with Todd. However, I was surprised by the depth, power, and the impartation of the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit that was immediately present when we released Todd into limited local ministry…”

Rick Joyner – The ElijahList Email”  “Check Out These Todd Bentley Events” May 15, 2010

According to Rick Joyner, Todd Bentley has been restored, forgiven and has returned a genuine Christian.

This is what Todd from Freshfire Ministries said back in Lakeland in middle of 2008

It was shocking that he did not want to preach about Jesus:

Don’t believe in Jesus!

This is what Todd Bentley has to say now in May 2010:

Enough about Jesus!!

Um yeah….

I can definitely see a change… for the worse.

Rick Joyner “Releases” Todd Bentley Back Into Ministry
    Posted on August 18,

Well, I guess the “restoration” of Todd Bentley is complete, because Rick Joyner is “releasing” him back into ministry.

Here are a couple of observations:

    1. Rick Joyner restored Bentley, not God.
    2. Rick Joyner didn’t truly “restore” Bentley…only God can do that.
    3. Rick Joyner ignored God’s Word and convinced his followers that Bentley is fit and qualified to lead in a ministerial capacity. The Scriptures disqualify him, therefore, Joyner did this in open rebellion and defiance of God’s Word.
    4. Just because Rick Joyner declares Bentley to be restored, doesn’t mean he is. The holy Scriptures stands against him.
    5. I know Joyner was deeply hoping that Bentley would be restored and the public would accept him, because if he wasn’t, that would prove him (Joyner) to be a false prophet. After all, he did prophesy longevity over Bentley at Lakeland, shortly before he fled in disgrace. He had a strong vested interest in getting Bentley up and running again…. self preservation.

So… Joyner has turned Bentley loose, huh?

    This might just get interesting.

Blah blah blah yeah Rick you talking away and saying nothing …………bleh.

  2. Burning Lamp says:

Restoration – isn’t that a process that restores someone or something to the original state assuming that original state was one of worth and worthy of restoring? What of Bentley was worth restoring? From what did he deviate? Was he ever anything but a heretical lunatic?

There is an old saying that says you can’t make a purse out of sow’s ear. Somehow it seems to apply to this situation…………the only people deeper in deception than Joyner and Bentley are the folks at Elijah List and those who are willing to follow Bentley again.

  3. Arthur W says:

Forgiveness and restoration happen…by God’s great grace.
However the Todd fiasco seems too plugged into the false thing I ask God to remove from me!
Get real people….go to God and not Rick for what’s what.

  4. Chris says:

It’s interesting that Todd’s “wife” saw “The angel of the light.” and not the angel of the Lord.

The Angel of the Light is normally a reference to Satan.

  5. Chris

Yip. But wait, when Todd was in full swing back in 2008 I watched the whole thing and Todd actually saw, the “The Angel of the Lord” – So as we can see Satan can appear as anything he wants.

  6. Ironic says:

Ironic that everyone in the Bible stood in fear when they witnessed an angel (do not be afraid) but Todd Bentley saw one, named HER and based his ministry on it. His wife and he are under a cloud of complete deception, sadly those that follow him choose to enter the covering of that same cloud. No one is good enough to be loved by God, we just are loved. Not by works…not by our will or obedience. We are loved because He choose to love us. If He was willing to sacrifice His own Son when we were stained with sin….why do we feel that now that we have been made white as snow…it is something we have to work at? Just be real with God. You don’t need to hide behind Todd Bentley to receive anything….God already gave it.

  7. jeremiah says:

i just wanna make sure im getting this right. God almighty is telling Mr. Bentley that there is an angel who is getting offended that Jesus gets too much time in the spotlight and the angel doesnt get enough time to show up and show her power? if Jesus points to the Father and the Holy Spirit does nothing but convict, convince and point to Jesus, then what is an angel doing demanding the spotlight?

in the famous words of the Joker, “Now there’s a BATMAN”!

  8. Eric says:

I saw on the previous organization of Todd bentley http://www.freshfire.ca that they advertized amd promote his comeback
In the video on this site where Rick Joyner reinstalled Todd bentley, there was repeated the commission ceremony of july 2008, Rick Joyuner said : ;et 2 or three people propheesy over him ( because that is biblical, and what happened: three did prophesy, but Bob Jones wanted also to prophesy, and again they violated the commands of the bible. Church , put on the full armour of God, pray therewith at every opportunity in the spirit with continuing prayuer and supplications, being watchful there unto with all perseverance and prayers and supplications for all saints
May the Rhema of God then come our of our mouths , not our opinios, not our quoting bible verses for or against, but les us be fiulled with the Holy Spirit, and speak words of God

  9. Gregory Garwood says:

Once again Rick Joyner has completely missed the boat when it concerns the “Restoration” of Todd Bentley to ministry. Todd has disqualified himself because the Word of God clearly tells us so.
Titus 1:6-9 says;   6[These elders should be] men who are of unquestionable integrity and are irreproachable, the husband of [but] one wife, whose children are [well trained and are] believers, not open to the accusation of being loose in morals and conduct or unruly and disorderly.
        7For the bishop (an overseer) as God’s steward must be blameless, not self-willed or arrogant or presumptuous; he must not be quick-tempered or given to drink or pugnacious (brawling, violent); he must not be grasping and greedy for filthy lucre (financial gain);
8But he must be hospitable (loving and a friend to believers, especially to strangers and foreigners); [he must be] a lover of goodness [of good people and good things], sober-minded (sensible, discreet), upright and fair-minded, a devout man and religiously correct, temperate and keeping himself in hand.
9He must hold fast to the sure and trustworthy Word of God as he was taught it, so that he may be able both to give stimulating instruction and encouragement in sound (wholesome) doctrine and to refute and convict those who contradict and oppose it [showing the wayward their error].
Notice the absence of any reference to the Word of God. It clearly states that Todd must be the husband of ONE wife. As long as Shonna is alive, Todd is living in adultery and sin, thereby disqualifying himself.

  10. Burning Lamp says:

    Blind leading the blind………..

  11. Daniel says:

Don’t act like pharisees, praying out loud “Lord thanks because I’m not like him” that’s abomination in His eyes. Did Jesus come to condemned the prostitute when she was caught in adultery? Not one was found clean form sin to do that. The only one was Jesus, clean of sin, and He didn’t take the first rock.

The prophet Samuel said the Lord os the one who sees the heart of man. Unless you can see todd’s heart or everyone else’s don’t even think about emitting a judgment like the one’s are posted here.

P.d. If somebody argues saying, it,s against the Bible, please, quote the Bible.

  12. Daniel

WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU SPEAKING ABOUT? I wish people would QUOTE text in reference to what they are speaking about so that other people know what’s going on.

  13. Patricia says:

I agree with Daniel’s post, dated 29 Jan 11. There are a lot of condemning and judgement posted, but nothing of substance. There is no sin greater than the next. Should we still be condemning J. Baker and J. Swaggert because they previously “walked after the flesh and not after the Spirit (Rom 8:1)? We have no other resonsibility to the “restoring” of a brother or sister other than yanking them up when they are falling by the waistside and to pray for them. Is there any person on this site that truly knows what God has done with Bentley behind closed-doors? As for the word “restoration”, yes technically it does mean to bring back to the original condition; however, if we were looking through the eyes of our loving Father, Bentley’s original condition was a precious child given the Spirit of Adoption (Rom 8:14-17) because of the the righteous blood shed for our reconcilliation. I understand the concerns presented; however, we should tread lightly and cautiously when speaking in “righteous” judgment, “for with what judgment we judge, we shall be judged: and with what measure we mete, it shall be measured to us again (Mat 7:2).” Basically unless the Holy Spirit has spoken a specific word to you concerning Bentley’s situation, we have no right to speak unless it’s to pray. God bless each of you with abundant favor, fresh annointing, renewing of your mind, a heart of flesh and not of stone and an intimate relationship through our Almighty, Sovereign, Righteous Savior, Jesus Christ!

  14. sylesa says:

    Patricia,
you are misusing the scripture. We are not to judge with an eye to simply tear somebody down, we are not to judge another when we are doing the same thing. We are not to judge others without first examining our own hearts and lives, and repenting and making corections in our own lives by Gods grace. We are not to judge without mercy. That is the meaning of the scripture that you have mentioned.

Now , the bible is of one cloth. We cannot take the above mentioned scripture and apply it accross the board and say “WE SHOULD NOT JUDGE”. Wrong. The scriptures also speak of contending for the faith

Jude exhorts his readers to be contenders for the faith
1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: 2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. 5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. 6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. 10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. 14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. 16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage. 17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
    Jude 1:1-25 (KJV)

the scriptures warn of false teachers , of which by the way, Todd Bently is a false teacher. We MUST judge in order to discern truth from error! You need to study the Word of God , that you may learn to discern truth from error. Discernment IS making a judgement and we are called to do that! The scriptures say that we will know them by their fruit! This takes making a judgement between what you are seeing or hearing and what the scriptures say! Paul said “cast out that wicked one from among you”, do you think that maybe a judgement had to be made first?

I am posting some links for you to read that will help you to really understand what the bible REALLY says about judging.

I hope that you will rightly learn how to judge, not only for your own sake , but also for the sake of those that you may influence to look to somebody like Todd Bentley as a true Christian. And yes, i can say that he is not a true Christian because he teaches false doctrine and damnable heresies. His “ministry” and practice is very unbiblical. I am not pronouncing judgement on him, that is not for me or any mortal to do, that belongs to God alone. But i can judge him by the scriptures as God has told us all to do , and say that he is a false teacher. There is a BIG difference between pronouncing judicial judgement on a person and judging their doctrine and practice. It would serve you well to understand that.

  15. sylesa says:

    Patricia,
one more thing: yes we can know what God has or has not been able to do with Todd Bentley behind closed doors, because it would become manifest publically in his doctrine and life and new-found humility. That is not happening.YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS.

Condemning? No. Discernment. Know the difference.

You will only have a right relationship with God and a true faith based on TRUE knowledge of God, not false so -called knowledge. No matter how “high” and “annointed” you may feel yourself or somebody else to be. If it does not square with scripture, it is false and is deception. If you are looking for alot of emotional and so called “miraculous” “experiences” you will find plenty under the charasmatic umbrella and amongs all false teachings. You can be guided by your experience and your own opinions if you want to be so guided, but i reccomend you be guided only by the written Word of God.

Wow, the Bible says even the Holy Spirit will point to and lift up Jesus.
