Thank you for the careful breakdown on the sin-consious life I had learned about from Dan Mohler. My husband and I have been watching some teachers that we believe may have been leading us astray and just in the past couple days we have realized it is God’s word only where we need to be to get to know him more! I do not have any other repentance evidence from Joyce other than the “out of balance” statement. I enjoyed listening to her but will have to discontinue. She also just said the other night that Joel Osteen’s father was watching them from heaven and that right there shows me she is unqualified to teach the bible.

Hi Christina. Note that “cleanses” is in the present continuous tense which means the cleansing will continue until Jesus returns to fetch his bride. If the cleaning had been a faith accompli (in the sense of no more cleansing because we have reached a stage of sinlessness, as Joyce Meyer believes) John would never have written, “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:1-2).

The reckoning of being dead to sin in Romans 6:11 does not mean the person is now sinless. The opposite of your own definition of a “sin-conscious-life” must be a “sinless-conscious-life.” Agreed? It follows that it is only the sin-conscious-life which can reckon itself dead to sin and not the sinless-conscious-life. Why would a sinless-conscious life reckon itself dead when it is already sinless and, therefore, have no need to be convicted by the Holy Spirit. The sin-conscious life is acutely aware that it may fall into past sins at any moment and, therefore, constantly reckons itself dead to sin (Remember 1 Corinthians 10:12?). Those who think they are standing have already fallen; their boastful thinking is their fall, and therefore, have failed to reckon themselves dead to sin.

Do you have a link to an article or video where Joyce Meyer says in so many words, she has stopped thinking she is sinless? I am only aware of her confession that her teaching on faith and prosperity was “out of balance.” What does that mean? It means that she still holds true to the prosperity teaching but in an allegedly more balanced way. She cannot refute or reject prosperity altogether because that would mean she will have to sell her huge mansion and move to a smaller, humbler place. By the way the phrase “out of balance” fits perfectly in with 1 Corinthians 10:12. “Out of balance” means to be in a position where you are dangerously close to falling.

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Tim 6:6-10)

A sin conscious life is one that uses this verse to say they will always be sinners when in fact it says all over Romans and in particular Romans 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Also you have not updated that Joyce announced she had preached wrong and repented and is no longer a Word of Faith teacher.
