Lumila, you are correct. But we have to keep in mind that these folks did NOT have the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Now we have both and we don't need dreams and visions because all we need is the Holy Spirit and God's written, inspired Word.

The common thread with cults is extrabiblical relevation. Some people build their ministries around dreams and visions and it is faulty ground.

Burning Lamp,

In Matthew 1:20, Joseph (Jesus' father/Mary's husband) speaks to an angel in a dream who tells him to marry Mary.

In Matthew 2:12 the wise men from the east who visited Jesus as an infant were also warned in a dream/s not to go see Herod again after seeing Jesus.

In Matthew 2:13 Joseph is told in a dream to take Jesus and Mary to Egypt (to avoid Herod)

In Matthew 2:19 Joseph is told in a dream (yet again) to head out of Egypt and back to Judea.

In Matthew 2:22 Joseph is warned even one more time in a dream to not go into Judea but to turn aside into Galilee.

In Matthew 27:19 I think it's Pilate's wife has had dreams about Jesus, and warns Herod to not have anything to do with Jesus.

There is of course the verse from Joel, also. I am not sure why that one is somehow not 'valid'. It may have first been spoken in the Old Testament, but it's application was in the New Testament.

Robbie.
I cannot see how 1 Cor 1-13 explains anything about prophecy? 1Cor 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
If a prophet is not 100% correct, he is a prophet from hell, not from God.
Jer 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
Deut 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Francois

An area of good fruit has to do with sound doctrine. We are exhorted in the Scriptures to give attention to sound doctrine, or proper scriptural teaching.
A false prophet will subtly pervert the teaching of Scripture. He will give it in a slightly twisted way in order to serve his own ends. That is why it is so important for us to get into the Bible for ourselves, in order not to be deceived by those who twist Scripture.

Had the followers of David Koresh or Jim Jones been Biblically grounded they would have probably never fallen for their deceptive claims. (whether it be dreams or words)

Exactly why people fell for David Koresh and Jim Jones... They were fed rat poison. 99% good food and 1% poison. And the end result?

Really Francois!.. you can shout... but don't twist AND shout

Francois, I saw this after I answered your last post on another thread. You sound like two different people. Now I am the one who is confused about who you are.

Can you give a New Testament example of God speaking through dreams except for the reference in Joel?

There is a danger in depending upon extrabiblical revelation - that is how cults are founded.

//This is so occult and horrendously demonic I can even begin to go through all the details as to why. In fact no explanation is needed here, if this does not shock you, then you need to ask yourself why? What is wrong in your life that you can accept such a horrid story as being from God. The Holy Spirit will NEVER agree to this. But there is a false spirit who will agree.//

Be careful of calling things demonic which could be God Inspired messages. Be careful hinting that I am writing this inspired by a false spirit. Just for the record. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is the way, the truth and the life and the only way to God the Father.

Now with what spirit did I say that?

Interpreting dreams can be a prophetic act.It can also be divination. All depends on your relationship with God which depends on your faith or not in Christ

Prophecy has never meant to be 100% accurate. 1 Cor 1-13 explains.

I have had dreams in which I did understand the symbols and its been useful. And it never detracted or added to the Word of God. And I have never known any other God than the God of the Bible, the Father of Christ so please don't condemn me for having dreams!

God decided when He wants to speak to whom in ways He chooses. Dreams I find is common. And I don't hang out with people involved in the occult.

However God will not contradict Himself iow overturn his written word.

I would really like you to into the details as to why you view this so horrendously demonic...

Who told God to stop speaking to people in dreams? Just because its not an exact science does not mean its demonic or occult.

But the dream was meant for "Bubsie". Between her and God. We do not need new revelations about greed in churches...No we can read what Jesus did with the money exchangers...nor do we need new revelations about Pharisees and all the other characters Jesus had to deal with.

We have the Bible.

We do not need to know trough "Bubsies" dream that some churches are so traditional they operate without the Holy Spirit...or that in some churches there are clowns, prosperity teachers...

Common known fact.

We need to know that the message of 1 Cor 13 is important. It's everlasting...the message.

Love being the most important. Love this topic of discussion!
