Kobus van Rensburg and his Tower of Babel

Kobus van Rensburg - False ProphetIt has come to DTW’s attention that Kobus van Rensburg from Spirit Word Ministries feels it absolutely necessary to pray for the entire area of Stilfontein on a regular basis.  Now this sounds normal to the unlearned, the problem is, Kobus van Rensburg is not a genuine Christian, he is a false prophet, who teaches the doctrine of Latter Rain / Manifest Sons of God (New Apostolic Reformation).  He is a faith healer, that preys on the sick and those seeking a miracle.  He has built an empire from the money that falls into his collection baskets given to him by people who have health issues and seek God through Kobus van Rensburg as their mediator to heal them.

But now it would appear Kobus is not close enough to God, or is having a problem hearing Him and has built a tower to enter daily and pray over the community.

Yes, I will repeat that in case you think I am joking….

Kobus has built himself a gigantic tower on Spirit Word Ministries property in Stilfontein.  From what we can gather the building is approximately 4-5 stories tall, with windows that surround the top.  A nice scenic view of Stilfontein.

Now, in the Bible we have the story of the Tower of Babel:

Genesis 11:1-9

1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

God commanded the human race to  (Genesis 9:1) “increase in number and fill the earth” , but they did the exact opposite.  Instead they said, (Genesis 11:4) ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth”.  The human race thought it best to build a great city and congregate there, and because of pride they decided to build a gigantic tower (which became known as the Tower of Babel) as a symbol of their power, their superiority, they wanted to make a name for themselves, they wanted to be little ‘god’s. God was angry, and in response confused the languages of the human race, that people could no longer communicate with one another (Genesis 11:7).

Does Kobus van Rensburg think that going up into his tower to pray over the community is going to get him closer to God or into the presence of God?  If so does not the Holy Spirit ABIDE IN YOU when you become a child of God?  That is what the bible says:

1 Corinthians 6:19  “19 What? know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?”

Hebrews 3:6  “6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.”

Does Kobus van Rensburg think that by building this tower and situating himself high up in the sky overseeing the community and praying, that his prayers will be answered?  Why can’t he do what he needs to to down on the ground?  Is Kobus’ faith not strong enough that he now needs to build himself a towel to try reach God?

Does Kobus van Rensburg think that by building a tower he can increase his spiritual warfare power as he prays out the windows; North, South, East and West over Stilfontein?   Does he not realise that no where in the Bible does God ask of a believer to do these strange spiritual warfare rituals.

Is Kobus van Rensburg displaying the same traits as the people did back in Genesis who built the Tower of Babel?  Is Kobus’ tower actually a symbol of power and superiority over everyone?  I think so.

It seems Kobus is infatuated with towers as he had this to say just 13 hours ago on Facebook:

Prophet Kobus van Rensburg – 13 hours ago

Its time to take God on His word, get renewed in the Spirit of our minds and get the word of God working in our lives for a change, we are destined for nothing but success…

IN A VISION: I saw a tall tower with a steep stairway going to the top, and at the top of the tower was ; SUCCESS, PROSPERITY, JOY, PEACE, MARRIAGE, BETTER CARS, BETTER JOBS, HEALING, ALL THE DESIRES OF GOD’S PEOPLE… and people were walking up this stairway to get to the top, but somewhere in the middle they would slip and slide down to the bottom, some of the people would hang on somewhere in the middle, but no one really got to the top… BUT ON THIS DAY I DECLARE YOU WILL GET TO THE TOP IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS… I BIND YOU TO YOUR BREAKTHROUGH, YOUR SUCCESS, YOUR HEALING, YOUR PROSPERITY, WHATSOEVER IT MAYBE… IT IS YOURS IN JESUS’ NAME… THIS IS YOUR MIRACLE WEEK IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS!!!    [Emphasis added]

Better cars?  ALL THE DESIRES of the people? All righty then…

The Bible has this to say about these people who seek wealth on earth instead of gathering their treasures in heaven…

1 Timothy 6:9-11
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Proverbs 13:7   “7 There is that makes himself rich, yet has nothing: there is that makes himself poor, yet has great riches.”

Mark 10:20-22
20 And he answered and said to him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said to him, One thing you lack: go your way, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

The disciples were poor, weak, hungry, beaten and had no home, etc…

1 Corinthians 4:10-12
10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honorable, but we are despised.
11 Even to this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place;
12 And labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it.

Pay attention to this, church of Laeodecia:

Revelation 3:16-19
16 So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.
17 Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness do not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Riches corrupt

James 5:1-3
1 Go to now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come on you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
3 Your gold and silver is corroded; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

The Bible is a blue print for how a Christian should conduct their lives, it in it contains the do’s and don’t.  No where in the Bible did any disciples, Apostles, Prophets, or believers build a tower to climb up into too ‘get closer to God’ to pray over their town.  No where in the Old Testament do we find God instructing the people to build a tower, and no where in the New Testament do we find Jesus Christ telling anyone to build a tower to aid them in their spiritual lives.  And no where do we find that one must build a tower with regards to spiritual warfare, as the Bible is clear on what we have to do when it comes to the enemy, and that is put on the whole armour of God.  (Ephesians 6:10-18)
What we do find regarding a tower in the Bible, is the story of the Tower of Babel, where unbelievers built a tower.  The response from God was not a pleasant response.  Now in this day and age, because we are in the last of the last days, God might not strike Kobus van Rensburg with a bolt of lightening for his pride in wanting to be on the same level as Him.  But the time is coming where God’s wrath will be poured out on this world (Ephesians 5:6) because God has reached His limit and can’t bare for one second more to look at all the millions of false teachers that have over run the world, spreading lies and leading millions of people astray – because they themselves have itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3) and seek teachers like Kobus van Rensburg to teach them doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1).
Ephesians 5:6  “6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God on the children of disobedience.”
James 5:1-3
1 Go to now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come on you.
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
Your gold and silver is corroded; and the rust of them shall be a witness against youand shall eat your flesh as it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.
Test the Spirits

1 John 4:1  “1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (Jer 29:8; Matt 24:4; Eph 5:6; Col 2:18; Matt 7:15-16; 1Cor 14:29; 1Thess 5:21; Matt 24:5; Matt 24:24; 2Pet 2:1; 2John 1:7)

Notice that in the bible the disciples WORKED for a living and NEVER requested money from anyone to preach the gospel.

1 Thessalonians 2:9   “9 For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail: for laboring night and day, because we would not be chargeable to any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.”

Those who seek after signs and wonders and miracles, Jesus has this to say to you:

Matthew 12:39-40
39 But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection is your MIRACLE people.  Jesus Christ saves us from our sins, and from the penalty of death.  Have you trusted in Him, in His death on the cross of Calvary for your sins, and His resurrection from the dead, so that you may have eternal life?

Please open your eyes and have faith in the GREATEST MIRACLE of them all.

width=In Islam, most mosques have a tower called a minaret, where the Adhan is sung out from or they put the speakers on the minaret to recite the Adhan.   The Adhan is a very special Islamic call to salat (prayer). The one who recites it is called a Mu’azzin. He stands up there and sings his lungs out, praying, worshipping Allah and calling everyone to stop what they are doing and come to the mosque as their prayers will start soon.

When I first heard about Kobus’ tower, I immediately thought of him standing up there on his tower praying like a Mu’azzin.  I mean honestly, Kobus follows a false gospel, so he may as well build himself a tower and pray over the community, like the Muslims do.

Strange that Kobus’ tower bares an uncanny resemblance to some very historic Islamic mosque towers.

    >> Pharisees attacking Jesus.

Are you saying that Kobus is Jesus? If you are calling us Pharisees then Kobus must be Jesus.

Come here with biblical scripture to back up your comment next time ok?

  2. Sharon says:

I’ve never heard of this man. But here in the USA we have more than our share of Wolves in Sheep’s clothing. Plus your word, “you people” here in the USA are fighting words. But I don’t fight. Deborah and others are warning of these Wolves. The wolves are in business for 2 reasons. 1. To damn more people to hell. 2. Money.

2nd.Peter 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. Their damnation will catch up with them someday.

When I face Jesus it will be awesome. I will bow down in praise and worship. He shed His precious blood to save a wretch like me. I will Bless His Name, not some false prophet.

You people are so futile and pathetic. Pharisees attacking Jesus. You are going to look so stupid when you have to face Him and where will your father the devil be to help you then?

All those who laughed at Noah? Be careful when you judge as you told not to! Judge not least you be judged! There is only one who can judge! Amazing how those who have obviously very little time therefore lack knowledge and wisdom as above spend what little time they have commenting and assuming on the things of the” devil” spend this time meditating on the word of God, then you will know the truth, it will set you free, and then and ONLY then will you be prosperous and successful lacking in nothing! Lets hope the floods don’t come again you might be looking for a spot on top of kobus tower! Imagine what you would pay him for that if you or your kids where drowning! Don’t worry if you all above know the truth He promised NEVER to flood the earth again, the rainbow was the sign that He would not! So relax and breathe….

You seem to know something about the Bible (the Flood and the rainbow) but very little about the command to test all things. I suggest that you read these verses –

1 John 4:1 Amplified Bible (AMP)
4 “Beloved, do not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.” (False prophets are to be judged as being inspired by lying spirits).

    Galatians 1:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
8 “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to and different from that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment).” (False teachers are to be judged and anathematized).

For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
(1 Co 5:12-13) (God judges those who are outside the church [unbelievers] but Paul says that believers should judge those who are inside the judge, including those false teachers who mislead others).

1 Corinthians 11:19 Amplified Bible (AMP)
19 For doubtless there have to be factions or parties among you in order that they who are genuine and of approved fitness may become evident and plainly recognized among you.

1 Corinthians 11:19 Amplified Bible (AMP)
19 For doubtless there have to be factions or parties among you in order that they who are genuine and of approved fitness may become evident and plainly recognized among you. (Division is unavoidable in church and God allows it to separate the true Christians from the false).

Yes, indeed, the truth sets you free but then it should not be a twisted rendition of the truth. It must be the truth. The very fact hat you say the truth will make you “prosperous and successful, lacking in nothing,” proves that you have been taught a warped kind of truth in your church (which is but a lie) and it probably also proves that you haven’t been se free yet although you believe you have. You can have Kobus’ tower as much as you like. For me personally, I choose to be in Jesus Christ. Are you – and if so, how did you get there?

  5. Dan says:

Thomas, what is the difference between judging someone and discerning if he/she is telling the truth? I often hear people say “stop judging”. My neighbor is into Ecumenism and when I tried to warn him about it, he went at me with “we all have our blind spots.”

  6. Dan wrote:

Judging a person is to assume the power God alone has to send people to hell. That is why it is wrong to say to someone “to hell with you.”

Was Paul judging when he wrote these words?

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Gal 1:8).

No, I don’t think so because he was putting the fear of the Lord in them and warning them to repent. So, its OK to warn people of their hell-bound journey, unless they repent.

In ancient times money was made of different kinds of metals. First the metals were burnt to a liquid in a furnace and then poured into a mold. After it had been cooled down the virgin money’s sides had to be shaved with a special instrument because it had rough edges. Some of the guys weren’t very honest and deliberately shaved off more than was necessary. This is where the “dokimos” came in. They knew exactly what the money looked like and what it weighed. How did they know? They compared it with a genuine coin which they had shaved themselves. In the same way we must compare everything we hear with the genuine truth of God’s Word.

1 Cor 11:19 is very interesting because it uses the same word “dokimos” for genuine Christians. That’s why it says division and heresies are often a good thing because it provides an opportunity to distinguish between false and genuine Christians.

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deu 13:1-3)

  7. simon says:

The high priest and his band of priest were blind guides. Decerning wrongly that Jesus was casting out demons by beelzebub, quoting the scriptures but too blind to see what God was doing in season. They were caught up in their doctrines. Close this web page and think of constructive efforts. If you are not of the devil, ask God to feel you with the Holy Spirit so you might be decening. Decernment is not with the head! Kobus is God’s annointed servant. But too sad we have many pharasees, saducees and Sauls in our days. Zealous with wrong knowlegde. Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof!
Sorry I don’t have a website, but for purpose of posting.

  8. Qhubs says:

Oh hayi bethunana! Unexesha Debs! Preach the Word, preach the Kingdom of God, preach Christ; all things will fall into place. Play the ball, not the man.

I speak healing and health and peace over your life, in the unmatchable Name of Jesus Christ! Receive it, it was all paid for you in full at Calvary”

  9. Robbie says:

    Qhubs,

    Hayi bethunana? “not our people”

    In whose camp are you?

  10. Zoe says:

    Robbie,

‘Hayi Bethunana’ is an expression, which in this case is not in favour of Deborah. it’s more like “Oh spare me people”. I could be corrected I’m zulu and this is a Xhosa expression

  11. I had a feeling it was not a good saying. But then the prayers of those who curse me have no effect anyhow 🙂

    Thanks Zoe and Robbie

  12. Robbie says:

I will NEVER argue with you on that. My version was a direct translation. At least I saw the “not in favour” part. 🙂

[Deleted : Sherry Really? You find a picture of a homosexual and say that is Thomas Lessing? That is not Thomas – I pity you. And Jesus Christ is aware of your false beliefs that go against Christians such as us. What spirit lives in you that you attack us like this? Don’t comment again.]

  16. Celeste says:

Hi. What circus was Kobus’s death. These people are doing so much harm to the Christian faith. In old Bible times they and he (Kobus) would have been stoned.

  17. Celeste

That is so right, he would have been stoned.

God Bless you all !

  19. Jacqueline,

But the spiritual man tries all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things], yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one [he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern or appraise or get an insight into him]. (2 Korinthiërs 2:15)

Voel so jammer vir jou.

(Romeine 6:23)
