Deon Hockey – Bringing the Toronto Blessing ‘Fire Serpent’ to a Church Near You

Deon Hockey a South African pastor from Healing Ministries International is a Faith healer who has seen many a so called genuine healing take place under his hands.   Deon is affiliated with Pastor Steve Hill from the USA who started the Pensacola Brownsville Revival (a lead on from the Toronto Blessing).

“It was back in 1991 at a Benny Hinn Crusade that we see laughter break out among the children and Rodney Howard-Browne is on stage and called forward by Hinn. “Rodney, God has given you a great anointing for this. Let the holy laughter hit them in Jesus’ mighty name…it’s coming [zapped him]…. Pick him up. Now release it on the people, Rodney!” Hinn laid hands on his forehead (transferring the anointing) and he goes down. He then picks him up and inaugurates him into ministry by saying go ahead Rodney. Rodney starts by saying “I command you to laugh in Jesus name “and repeats over and over ad nauseam. This is not the polished stick that the world was exposed to on TBN, airing him on Praise the Lord program or at the Carpenters Home Church. It was raw and awkward but worked nonetheless on those  with weak minds that are willing to receive a suggestion they think is of the Holy Spirit…..

Rodney commanded  “Be filled right now. In the name of Jesus, I command you to laugh right now. I loose the joy of the Lord right now. In the name of Jesus, let it bubble out of your belly right now in Jesus’ name. Let the joy of the Lord bubble out of your belly. Lord make everybody drunk in the Holy Ghost. Make everybody drunk in the Holy Ghost. In the name of Jesus [repeated 10 times]….Double dose!” (clip from A Plague in the Land video by Alan Morrison available from CWM)” ….

[John] Arnott of the Toronto Vineyard  sought  this  by constantly going to Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-Browne, and Claudio Freidzon. At the same time, Randy Clark, St. Louis Vineyard pastor, received the laughing anointing by Browne at Kenneth Hagin’s Rhema Bible Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma . When the “Revival” breaks out at Toronto Vineyard Jan. 20 1994 there is absolutely no mention of Browne’s connection with Toronto through Clark, however Arnott does explain how it is transferred from his Church to others, as well as to his Church. “What happens is, there’s a transference of His anointing where, not only do you see it, not only do you experience it for yourself, but you’re going to take it home to your people.” (John Arnott, Pastor of the Toronto Airport Fellowship, pastor’s Meeting, October 19, 1994)   This proves it is not a sovereign move of God but people have to travel to get it, to bring it back to others, to get it. It is passed on by impartation of laying on of hands. Many agree without Randy Clark (or Rodney Browne), there wouldn’t be a Toronto Blessing…..  [DTW note:  John Arnott is an apostle within the New Apostolic Reformation NAR]

The “new anointing” paradigm shift makes one to act inebriated go dumb, mute, frozen and when they are able to move scream like a maniac, roar like a Lion, etc. Finally things got so out of hand even [John] Wimber had to stop his association with Toronto. Wimber stated in the Jan. 8, 1996, issue of Christianity Today: “I believe that there has been an authentic visitation of the Spirit there. However, I am unable because of my own scriptural and theological convictions to any longer give an answer for, or defend the way, this particular move is being pastored and/or explained”….

Next comes Pensacola. This “pandemonium” already practiced in Toronto is now being repeated in Pensacola by Kilpatrick and is even mentioned as a prayer for God to send “Pandemonium”. (I challenge the reader to look this up in a dictionary or Encyclopedia to see what this actually means.) ….

We need to keep in mind all this can be traced back to Hinn who at the time was blowing on people and waving his jacket and they were falling over like a building in demolition. At the time teaching that God had 9 in the Godhead and that each had its own body and soul (this is similar to Mormonism), “God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost – three separate individuals, one in essence, one in work – and, may I add, each one of them possesses His own spirit-body. “ ( “Praise the Lord”, 10/23/92)   He also was teaching that Jesus paid the price by being sin and in Hell and was the first born again man. “He’s [referring to Jesus] in the underworld now. …and the Bible says He was begotten. Do you know what the word begotten means? It means reborn. Do you want another shocker? Have you been begotten? So was He. Don’t let anyone deceive you. Jesus was reborn. (Benny Hinn, Our Position ‘In Christ,’ Part 1,1991) ….

The “Pensacola Revival” is the directly linked to the TB, as the fateful 1995 Father’s Day outbreak . Both Steve Hill and the leadership of the BAG [Brownsville Assemblies of God] had gone to Toronto to receive the “anointing” personally.

“Strange, unusual and wonderful things started happening after Brenda Kilpatrick came back from the Vineyard church in Toronto, Canada . . . signs of early revival started manifesting in the spring services . . . What had been seen in Toronto started happening among the people of Brownsville . . . Brenda explained how she had a drastic change in her prayer life. ‘I could never be the same again after I returned from Toronto.” (The Source of “The River” By Pastor Bill Randles)….

[Steve] Hill had been to Toronto to receive the “anointing.” But  sought another anointing  in a Anglican church in England, Holy Trinity Brompton.

Hill arrived at the church during the prayer meeting,  amazed at the sight of it: “I stepped over bodies to get to the pastor. When Sandy touched me, I fell to the ground . . . I was like a kid at Toys-R-Us . . . Then, I got up and ran to a couple and said, ‘Pray for me, man, this is good!’ They touched me and WHAM! I went back down. Some of you, God is going to hit in a powerful way. If you are hungry, get prayed for a dozen times.” (From the Father’s Day video, June, 1995.)

I guess if it doesn’t work the first time be opened to eleven more. Pensacola has become famous for its palsied “chicken walk,” or shake, jerk and fall manifestations. Even the prayer teams themselves were manifesting some form of the jerks, twitches….

Evangelist Steve Hill,  a Pensacola’s Brownsville Assembly of God, interviewed on TV’s “20/20,” explains his experience “I didn’t believe in God, but…out of desperation…I said, ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.’ I just began to say that name, and a power came through my body....”  This same chant is seen at the services invoking Jesus. This is how he was born again, a highly unusual and non biblical way….

This is what the cults do to beckon the spirit to manifest. The repetition of  words over and over is a New Age occultic technique called a mantra. As Hindu mantras “Aum” or “Hare Krishna”-invoke a spirit. The Gnostics said iii eee oooo and other such syllables to invoke the power.

When a willing subject is found in a passive state and a mantra is repeated, a  demonic power overcomes the speaker. This is exactly how Hill describes his conversion! Where in the Scripture does it instruct someone to do such a thing?

[Steve] Hill does the same , repeating “More, Lord!,” and “Fire! Fire! Fire!,” to summon and pass on the spirit at the Brownsville “revival.” For instance, the Brownsville prayer team, the group that prays for people at Hill’s altar calls, is instructed to impart the spirit only by touch and the repetition of words (cliche’s). Dr. Herb Babcock, former prayer team member explains, “While on the prayer team, we were instructed to NOT pray in Jesus’ name. We were told to NOT pray for the needs of people. The only thing we were to do was touch people on their forehead and say, “More, Lord!” and keep repeating that until there was an “impartation” of the spirit being promoted in these meetings.” Babcock continues, “If the person did not respond in a reasonable time, move on to someone else. Deon Hockey calls down fire and associates it to the Holy Spirit.  This ‘fire’ is nothing but a demonic spirit masquerading as the Holy Spirit.  Pastors will tell you that because the Holy Spirit came down during Pentecost this gives them license to associate the Holy Spirit to fire.

Acts 2:2-4  “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire and it sat on each of them. But the bible tells us of a ‘strange fire’:

Leviticus 10:1-3    “¹ Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane [strange] fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them. ² So fire went out from the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. ³ And Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD spoke, saying:    ‘By those who come near Me,  I must be regarded as holy;  And before all the people, I must be glorified.'”    So Aaron held his peace.

So Nadab and Abihu had not even been on the job a full day within the Levitical Priesthood and they were reinventing worship! They were not executing their office as they should have. They offered incense and fire not warranted by God.  They offered God a STRANGE FIRE.  And in return, God struck them down dead.  Today God does not strike people down for offering profane, disgusting, strange fire in the church, instead He leaves you until Judgement day.

This FIRE that is called down in the church today has been proven to be a Kundalini spirit instead, NOT the Holy Spirit.

The Greek philosopher, mathematician and physician Pythagorus knew it as pneuma, which, according to metaphysical researcher Mary Coddington, “came from a central fire in the universe and provided man not only with his vitality, but his immortal soul.” The Turkish genius and founder of neurology Galen, born in 129 A.D., also spoke of pneuma. Hippocrates seemed to be aware of it as well; he referred to it as vis medicatrix naturae. To the French philosopher Henri Bergson, it was the elan vital. The brilliant physician Paracelsus, born in 1493, was convinced of “a healing energy that radiates within and around man like a luminous sphere,” says Coddington. “This force, which he called archaeus, could operate at a distance and was able both to cause and cure disease.”

In a book entitled Comte de Gabalis, published in Paris three hundred years ago, the Abbe N. de Montefaucon de Villars was quite familiar with Kundalini: “The primordial electricity or solar force, semilatent with the aura of every human being, was known to the Greeks as the Speirema, the serpent coil; and in the Upanishads, the sacred writings of India, it is said to lie coiled up like a slumbering serpent.” (Kundalini for the New Age)

The Flemish chemist Jan Baptista van Helmont perceived magnetic fluids emitting from the body; in the 1800’s, Mesmer described this phenomena as a mobile fluid which could be influenced for healing purposes. The famous psychic Edgar Cayce, Coddington notes, “described a flow of energy in the body that is shaped like the figure eight, with the lines crossing at the solar plexus.” And D.D. Palmer, who is credited with founding chiropractic medicine, identified a life energy which was also to be found in “that Intelligence which fills the universe.” He named it the “Innate.” Says Coddington, “This Innate was the power that kept the automatic system functioning, and it expressed itself through the nervous system.” …..

Searing heat is Kundalini’s classic signature. It may blast up the spine, torch localized areas of the body, or come as hot flash episodes. Deon’s ministry focuses a great deal on creative miracles, and he claims that thousands of deaf people have been healed, blind eyes have received sight, lame people have walked and the cripple have been healed and various types of cancers have been healed – He even claims 2 people have been raised from the dead through prayer. DTW would love to have the proof for these 2 miraculous miracles.

Listen to this heart wrenching Youtube video below of a young man who was in a motorcycle accident and was paralyzed from the waist down – Deon Hockey prayed for him and he was ‘healed’,  however notice that the healing is only a partial healing and Deon tells this young man that as the weeks and months go by he will recover more and more until he is finally healed completely. Or so Deon says.

Notice that a Kundalini awakening as it it called when the “FIRE serpent” awakens comes with the extraordinary gift to be healed. So it is the FIRE SERPENT that is healing people, NOT Jesus. And many people in churches speak of feeling warmth or heat on their bodies while being prayed for.

Can Satan Heal?

The answer is, absolutely, but in a very ‘counterfeit’ sort of way.  You see, Satan can cause sickness, and mankind is born into a sinful evil world.  What you see as being a miraculous healing by today’s false prophets is none other than Satan taking away the sickness / injury he had given the person in the first place.  Satan can not do any good, he is the father of LIES.

In the bible there is a story of a woman who walked bent over for 18 years.  It was a demonic spirit which caused this infirmity.  Jesus healed her and she walked upright.

Luke 13:11-13     ¹¹ And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.¹² But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” ¹³ And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

But what about creative healings you ask, an arm with crushed bones starts to slowly fix itself and heal?

Job 2:4-6      ⁴ So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. ⁵ But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”  ⁶ And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life.”

Satan had full control over Job’s body and could do anything to him he wanted, except kill him.  We fail to comprehend the immense power Satan has and what he has control over.  Of course I am NOT saying that all illness is from Satan.  Never.  But in the case where people are healed by false teachers, Satan is the cause of the illness to start with.

So what has Satan to gain by taking away an illness from someone?  Because you can not see into the spiritual world, you do not know what else Satan has given you in EXCHANGE for you believing in him. Yes, by going to a false teacher you are believing in Satan to heal you.  One thing I do know is that the person who has received the counterfeit healing truly believes they were healed by God and ends up following after the false teacher and his doctrine of demons.  Satan now has this person’s soul in a firm grip.

Is it not a scary thought to think that Satan spends time planning how to deceive you?  If you are unsaved, without the protection of God, you are at his mercy.

1 Peter 5:8   ⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

So how do you tell what is a genuine healing from God?

The first thing you do is you TEST the words they preach.  If they do not tie up with scripture, the man is a false teacher.  Sometimes faith healers like to preach as little as possible, and rather concentrate on their core business; counterfeit healing.  Understand too that the false teacher is deceived as he truly believes he is performing mighty miracles.

Secondly, you look to see if any people are falling over backwards.  In the bible no one ever fell over.  If they did it, it was willingly to WORSHIP God, NO supernatural power involved, and they always FELL FORWARDS (Genesis 17:3, 17, Matthew 26:39, I Corinthians 14:25).  When you see people falling backwards, know immediately that a false ‘holy spirit’ is at work.

Thirdly, regarding the healings themselves:

• Jesus NEVER publicised His healings, nor had a healing ministry. He did not use it as an excuse to raise money either. In fact there were times he told those he healed to tell no one.  (Matthew 8:1-4, 9:27-31)
• Jesus healed every kind of infirmity.  (Matthew 9:35)
• Jesus did not have special days for healing specific illnessess.  Nor any specific time periods when healings would take place.
• Jesus NEVER performed a partial healing.  People where “made whole” instantly when Jesus healed.  Jesus NEVER told the person that it would take time for them to recover.  (Matthew 15:29-31; Mark 7:31-37)
• Jesus NEVER failed to heal anyone in His attempt to heal a person.  He never had to make any embarrassing explanations.
• Jesus NEVER healed by faith alone, but by divine power.

Now the reason I wrote this little article, besides the fact that it answers that big question, is because I am writing an article or three on some false teachers who have strong occult powers and it appears they perform mighty miracles.   But these are not miracles, these are but mere Satanic illusions.

2 Corinthians 11:14   “¹⁴ And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”

In fact the signs and wonders these men are performing are so surreal even I had to put my eyes balls back in their sockets and do a double take and triple take.  It made me realise how susceptible people are who do not know the Word of God well, who do not have a good relationship with Jesus Christ, that they will actually believe these things.  Because in the end times Satan will do GREAT signs and wonders through his false prophets:

Matthew 24:24   “²⁴ For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” and

2 Thessalonians 2:9   “⁹ The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders”.

And when the anti-Christ is on the scene he will even call fire down from the sky.

Revelation 13:13   “¹³ He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.”

The number of false prophets creeping out of the woodwork is astronomical; the numbers range into the hundreds of thousands.  Many use hypnosis on their audience and the power of suggestion which is demonic never the less, but there are some who wield terrible occult power and once you land in their grasp it’s very difficult to escape.
