Collage of False Prophets and False Teachers

Collage of False prophets and teachersThere are millions of false teachers and false prophets in the world today, below is a list of just some of the the major false prophets and teachers around.

Matt 7:15-20 Jesus says, “Beware of the FALSE PROPHETS, who come to you in SHEEP’S CLOTHING but INWARDLY ARE RAVENOUS WOLVES. You can identify them by their FRUIT, that is, by the way they ACT. Can you pick grapes from Thornbushes, or Figs from Thistles? (17) A GOOD TREE produces GOOD FRUIT, and a BAD TREE produces BAD FRUIT. A GOOD TREE can’t produce BAD FRUIT, and a BAD TREE can’t produce GOOD FRUIT. So every TREE that does not produce GOOD FRUIT is chopped down and thrown into the Fire. Yes, just as you can identify a TREE by its FRUIT, so you can IDENTIFY PEOPLE BY THEIR ACTIONS.”

Matt 24:4-5 Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone Mislead you, for MANY will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive MANY.”

Matt 7:21-23 Jesus warns, “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the WILL OF MY FATHER in Heaven will enter. On Judgment Day MANY will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We PROPHESIED IN YOUR NAME and Cast out demons in your Name and Performed many Miracles in your Name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who BREAK GOD’S LAWS.”

Matt 24:11 Jesus says, “MANY FALSE PROPHETS will appear and will deceive MANY people.”

Brother John #119…You said: “Call me simplistic” Ok…if you say so….

We live in the real world…with real live false prophets who are duping the sheep. My advice is to go back and study the Word, because you need to. Then you will understand why we discern the false from the true and you will learn how to expose the false words of the false prophets by correct doctrine for yourself.

If you think all we should be doing is smiling and living in victory…you should not be on this discernment site criticizing other bloggers. You SHOULD be in the Word!!!!

This is exactly why the church is in the position it is in…the false has not been dealt with…ecumenism has been mistaken for Christian love and the sheep love the message you just preached because it tickles their emotional and practical sentiments and entices them away from the pursuit of SOUND doctrine. It gives them a horizontal relationship with men(seeker sensitive) and shuts off the vertical relationship with God(holiness).

  2. Sharon says:

Mark most of the “true prophets” are the unknowns. My Grandfather a pastor over 60 years and now in heaven, J.T. Griffith….no one knows him except for the many he led to a personal faith in Jesus Christ. My own brother, a pastor of his present church for some 30 years now and a total in the pastorate of 45 years….few if any know him except for those that either are or will be in heaven because of him leading them to a personal faith in Jesus Christ. I suppose hundreds of thousands of unknowns down through the eons of time that have fought the good fight….those are the ones heaven will make note of.

Could you make a post on your site of who are the true prophets. Thanks.

If Darrin ever returns here I hope he will have learned some manners. You do a great job Deborah.

It seems that Deborah always will have the last word. This may or may not be deleted but it needs to be said.

“Deborah, just because “you” have written it, or studied it, or God forbid because “you – Deborah” says so, doesnt make it correct.

I believe your heart and study is in the right place, and you have valid points, but so do others that arent your friends or that share the same ideas as you.

‘God allowed His Son Jesus Christ to take our place on the cross so that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life.’

There is a lot in that verse of course. Alot that we do as Christians that are not in that verse. But it is key that “whosoever believeth” be the start and end all. In that, there is a lifetime of study and commitment as you know.

You present yourself again and again as having the knowledge that no man has. If anyone says ANYTHING contrary to you it is automatically not right. Sorry Miss Deborah, but the bible has warned us against you as well.

I hold fast to the Word of God and his leading. You should in my own opinion do the same. Keep up the good work but step back a bit every once in awhile and look at what you are doing and pushing.

I recognize this is your site, so I will stop writing. I just hope that you honestly pray for God to mend your heart and let life crush you for a season, so that you may come to Christ on bended knees, with a heart that has been broken and is sincere.

I have been saved a long time now….50 years in fact. I am 58 and my daily prayer is….God never ever let me deceived because no human is immune from it. Know the wolves….then don’t become their food.

  5. fred,

Paul must have been one of the top blasphemers of his time because he continually warned against false teachers.

(2 Co 11:13-15) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

I read with enthusiasm down the list of posting, and I have to say WOW. I grew up in Berkeley, CA. In the turbulent times, and there we SAW it, and many were DOING it all. Nothing is new under the sun, and if you lived there and were exposed to that culture then you knew it, ha. Many don’t believe in prophesy here, and I respect that, but I will tell ya, one that has STUCK with me throughout the years-given in the ’70’s by a very devout woman, who had the FRUIT to back up the gifting, rings true in my mind. When the generation comes that can’t discern good from evil, look up, for your redemption is nigh. I think that we have arrived at that time, and being older in the faith as Sharon is, I can tell you I have SEEN it ALL. I have worked with “ministries”, I have been a part of a global ministry family. I know what goes on behind the scenes, I know many of the influential players in the Body. I have discernment and USE it. Many that started out working for the Kingdom, have abused it. I have seen many fall away over the years. One’s that you never would think would FALL, but did. It is a truth, the ones that FINISH the race, stayed true to the origin, and the WORD. Sought Yeshua before the wisdom of men. I exhort those running the race, to HOLD fast to your first love, The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, He ALONE is your treasure, your prize, and that is where you invest your time and devotion, not with the teachings of men, programs, seminars, what have you. Your course objective, in your journey here- STUDY, LEARN, KNOW and EXECUTE the BOOK (the Bible)! Let your witness convict you of belonging to the FOLD! not your alignment, association, or alligence to any man’s interpretation or philosophy. Amen!

  7. Mark Holtman says:

Many of these churches started well but have fallen into deception and the love of money. I know from personal experience that Satan does come to you to offer you a deal.He spoke to me clearly over my shoulder and told me that I can have all this (fame fortune)if I gave him what he wanted. I refused as I knew this is not the way God operates.

It is so sad to see churches that were doing great works for Christ have sold out for riches. The body of Christ must continue to walk in love and rebuke as carefully as possible.I graduated from a word of faith bible college and I am grateful to God for what I learned. All the doctrine may not have been perfect but you could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.
I can no longer set my foot in this church it has become dead. All flesh and emotion and worst of all money hungry. The fruits of the leaders are just not there to say the least.

God help us in these last days. We could be the generation that will see the apostate church and the revealing of the AC.We may have to go back to the ways of the first church (from house to house).
God bless all those who seek to serve God in spirit, truth and holiness.

  8. I don’t see any mention or photos of the wolves in sheep’s clothing in the Roman Catholic Church.

  9. isaac says:

maybe a better question would be, “Who is NOT a false prophet?”

  10. Isaac,

If you can’t acknowledge that God (Jesus Christ) is not a false prophet then you have a problem. Why? Because He proved that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and that no one comes to the Father but through Him.

  11. Jon says:

    Deborah, you are lost.

  12. Jon,

And I suppose you are saved? Would you mind telling us how you were saved

  13. Stanley says:

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. Our biblical knowledge can’t save us and isn’t sufficient to judge other people. Bible is just an old guide showing us how to get to know Jesus for real! Only Jesus can save us and reveal to us, who is the true prophet and who is false prophet. We have no right to judge other people according to our own personal beliefs and oppinions. Our own judgements are godless and evil. Better don’t judge on your own.
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”
    Matthew 6:22-23
    Mark 9:38-41.
    1.Corinthians 2:11

  14. Stanley,

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: (Luk 6:37)

I wish Christians would at least try to understand that there is a vast difference between judging a person and judging doctrine. The portion you quoted does not relate to judging (discerning) doctrine but judging persons. An example would be where you judge someone for indulging in the sin of smoking while you yourself smoke like a chimney. Jesus forbids this kind of judgment. That’s why He said: ” You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” In other words first quit smoking and then you will be in a position to exhort others about the dangers of the sin of smoking. Or, you may judge someone for committing adultery while you yourself are committing adultery in your heart when looking with lust at women. Once again, this kind of judgment is not only hypocritical but highly undesirable.

However, when doctrine comes to the fore we are exhorted to judge all things (not persons). Consider the following scriptures.

1 Corinthians 2:15 Amplified Bible (AMP)

But the spiritual man tries all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things], yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one [he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern or appraise or get an insight into him].

Here we see that those who refuse to judge (discern) doctrine is not spiritually mature. They are still little children in the faith.

so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. (Eph 4:14)

Spiritually immature Christians are usually tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine because they are piously reluctant to judge.

    You wrote,

Bible is just an old guide showing us how to get to know Jesus for real! Only Jesus can save us and reveal to us, who is the true prophet and who is false prophet.

If the Bible was just an old guide showing us how to get to know Jesus for real then we may just as well tear most of the parts relating to sanctification and holy living out of the Bible. The Bible was not only written to reveal to us God’s way of salvation but is also “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” You cannot correct anyone without showing him that he is on the wrong track doctrinally. If you do not judge doctrine you are missing out on the wonderful opportunity to save a soul from death. Or do you prefer to be like Cain who asked “Am I my brother’s keeper” and willfully let him perish in his erroneous doctrines?

Let him know, that he which converts the sinner from the error of his way (who has strayed from the truth) shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. (James 5:20)

When Jesus said, “Take heed that no man deceive you” (Mat 24:4) he placed the onus on every believer to judge for himself what is of God and what not. He will not reveal to you what is false and what is true. He did not say, “I will test the spirits for you to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” He gave you and all believers the command to “test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1), and if you do not test (judge, discern) the spirits to see wheter they are from God or not you are being downright disobedient to Jesus.

You are trying to validate your view with 1 Corinthians 2:11. Yes, of course we cannot read peoples’ minds but we are quite capable to discern their thoughts when they express their minds verbally or on paper. How could we have known God’s mind if He had not used men to write down his thoughts in the Bible? False prophets just adore to make their thoughts known to all people because they are bent on leading them astray. They do not keep their thoughts to themselves. So, in short, your use of 1 Corinthians 2:11 is a total non-sequitur.

Similarly, your quote of Mark 9:38-41 does not support your view. First of all Jesus who is all-knowing knew that the man who cast out demons in his Name was not a false teacher or prophet and therefore put a stamp of approval on his work. Nonetheless, he condemns the multitude of today’s so-called prophets and teachers when He says,

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.” (Mat 7:21-23)

Matthew 6:22-23 has nothing to do with judging correctly or with discernment. Jesus denounced the Pharisees belief that monetary wealth was a sign of God’s favour. In fact, he told them that their eyes which coveted money and wealth put them in spiritual darkness. Their eyes were diseased (verse 22). They were slaves to the master of greed.

So, I would like to advise you to first study the context in which scriptures appear before you make any public statements of the sort you have made.

Oh boy… What on earth have the 2 Witnesses in the End times Tribulation (which the church will not see as we will be raptured) got to do with the conversation that was taking place.
And are you saying that because I Corinthians 14 “ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be comforted.” That now makes everyone a prophet?
Prophecy ceased along with tongues after the bible was written.

Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

  16. Robert,

The Book of Revelation contains Jesus’ testimony (prophecy) in full. We dare not add to it or take away from it (Rev. 22:18). So, don’t even think to add your own or anyone else’s so-called prophecies to the Book of Revelation.

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Rev 22:18-19)

Please i do follow some of Willian Marion Branam teachings and all he taught was turning the heart of the children back to the father, so i want to ask why did u add him among the false prophets??? Am not being critical but all i really want to walk in d part of truth.
Your take on d issue of speaking in tongues ended after d bible was written is also an issue am pondering on. So please i would be happy if u make me clear especially on Bro William Branam’s case.

I am not sure what you are saying? This is a very new age statement: You say; “Feel, Hear, See and touch, I am the living God and the answer is inside you” Um no, I don’t need to use all my senses to meditate and wait for ‘God’ to answer me and tell me he is inside me.

    Hi Dianne,

Its always bring me such joy when I see a fellow Brother or Sister In Christ have their eyes and hearts opened to the truth. So many will not listen and take heed and those I feel were never saved in the first place. I am glad you saw these men as wolves.

Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” (Mat 19:21)

However, I sincerely hope you do not follow the man’s example in this scene but rather Jesus.

  28. Fabian says:

Be careful who you call false. If you knew some of these people you just listed as false then you would repent for you have judged innocent men and women. I agree with your statement that you endorse the bible 100 percent but to endorse something means you’l trust what it says. The Bible teaches that GOD called there first to be Apostles,Prophets,Evangelists,Pastors and teachers. Surely if there are pastors and teachers around that there is Apostles,Evanngelists and Prophets? And is your view on our great GOD so shallow to believe that the only prophets are those in the old testament? Did not the Bible say Believe in the prophets so shall you prosper? Are you prospering? If No are you believing in the Prophets? Don’t tell me but that’s passed NO!!! Heaven and earth may pass away but the Word stands eternal! It doesn’t matter if GOD said somethin yesterday or 1000 years ago it will forever stand!!! I am in no way saying that you must believe in prophets and stop believing in our Saviour JESUS. I am saying believe every word in the Bible and stop believing your lies. If you truly knew the Spirit of the LORD JESUS CHRIST which is a spirit of prophecy a testament to his second coming you would never ever persecute those whom are true prophets. Knowing the scriptures is one thing. Knowing the GOD behind those scriptures and the anointing upon HIS chosen vessels is another. We are the Body of CHRIST and HE has given us Apostles and Prophets and Evangelists and teachers and pastors to lead and govern the church. If you don’t believe in prophets then seriously are you even christian? Because pastors were also in the Bible and they still are here today!!!! So are Apostles eg Apostle Maldonado. But you who persecute them actually fullfill GODs plan for the people of old always persecuted the prophets of GOD….and you wonder why you don’t get breakthrough? Its coz you believe in what you perceive the word says and not what it actually says. Read the Bible with a spirit of wisdom and understanding and then you wouldn’t even dare accuse some you’ve mentioned as false prophets. Its fine if you believe them to do so,but don’t cause others to do so because of your arrogance!
