Collage of False Prophets and False Teachers

Collage of False prophets and teachersThere are millions of false teachers and false prophets in the world today, below is a list of just some of the the major false prophets and teachers around.

Matt 7:15-20 Jesus says, “Beware of the FALSE PROPHETS, who come to you in SHEEP’S CLOTHING but INWARDLY ARE RAVENOUS WOLVES. You can identify them by their FRUIT, that is, by the way they ACT. Can you pick grapes from Thornbushes, or Figs from Thistles? (17) A GOOD TREE produces GOOD FRUIT, and a BAD TREE produces BAD FRUIT. A GOOD TREE can’t produce BAD FRUIT, and a BAD TREE can’t produce GOOD FRUIT. So every TREE that does not produce GOOD FRUIT is chopped down and thrown into the Fire. Yes, just as you can identify a TREE by its FRUIT, so you can IDENTIFY PEOPLE BY THEIR ACTIONS.”

Matt 24:4-5 Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone Mislead you, for MANY will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive MANY.”

Matt 7:21-23 Jesus warns, “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the WILL OF MY FATHER in Heaven will enter. On Judgment Day MANY will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We PROPHESIED IN YOUR NAME and Cast out demons in your Name and Performed many Miracles in your Name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who BREAK GOD’S LAWS.”

Matt 24:11 Jesus says, “MANY FALSE PROPHETS will appear and will deceive MANY people.”

    BL,
finding mixed reviews online about J Prince. Seems that he has some things right but not really sure of him. I am also not liking that he was on the cover of Charisma magazine, that’s disturbing in itself. I will continue to look into what exactly it is that he teaches. Seems so far that people are saying that he is alittle heavy on grace and light on repentance.

  2. sylesa says:

    Hello Deborah,
It has been quiet for the last few days on the blog, i pray that it is not because you are feeling sick still. I hope that all is getting better and better with you.

I was wondering what you and the others thought of Andrew Wommack? I know that he is under the charasmatic persuasion in that he speaks in tongues and that he believes that God ALWAYS wants you well. I do not believe these things at all , but at the same time I do think that he does have alot of good practical bible teachings to apply to everyday living in this world, and he seems not at all a prosperity teacher per se.I guess he seems a bit different than most all other charasmatic teachers. Was wondering what you all think of him or maybe know as far as his authenticity is concerned.I haven’t seen him on any list yet.

Again, i hope that all is well with you Deborah.

  3. sylesa

Yes, sorry unfortunately I am not well, but I will be ok soon :)) Thank you so much for your concerns!

  4. sylesa says:

    Robbie,
lol , really wasn’t sure! Then because the comment came AFTER my comment about pole dancing for Jesus….. well i was wondering if he was teasing Deborah about pole dancing …… lol , i never heard the word blikkie before! I better shut up, i am making things worse, lol!!!

  5. Burning Lamp says:

Sylesa, chiming in on Andrew Wommack. I would stay away from him – you don’t need his “practical” Bible teaching. He comes across as very low key and pleasantly engaging. His sincerity is not in question, it is his doctrine.

As one person who examined his teaching put it, “I have to say that lot of what AW says is excellent but his foundational teaching is sinking sand.”

AW is probably one of the most dangerous teachers because much of what he says is truth and puts one off guard for the error.
Just one point is that he downplays the sovereignty of God and says it is bad doctrine. To say God is sovereign does not mean one has to believe in the twisted sovereignty doctrine of Calvinism.

Another site that exposes AW is http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Wolves/andrew_wommack.htm.

Good advice is to stay away from AW. I hope this is helpful!

  6. Burning Lamp says:

Sylesa, on JP, another one to stay away from. Why go to broken cisterns?

He is a darling of TBN – red flag waving!!!

Stay away from these TV preachers – go find some books by “dead guys” who are not going to slide into apostasy or mix their teachings with error. They weren’t perfect and everyone’s teaching has to be weighed by the Word, but they can be trusted.

One who has been a blessing to me is H.A. Ironside. You have to work at finding his commentaries, but there is much online you can find. It takes some effort more than turning on the TV or radio, but it is worth it. Also, you have to sit down with the commentary with your Bible and study. You can find some of his commentaries at Christianbook.com.

You have to realize dear friend that the most dangerous teaching is one that skillfully weaves truth and error together – the truth is used to shield the error. Very clever tactic of the enemy!!

  7. KO says:

Thank you for posting this website. I was saved in 1994, after realizing that my Catholic upbringing didn’t tell me squat about Jesus, or my sin and need of salvation, etc…I just figured I had water poured on my head as a baby and, well, that was my ticket to “meet Saint Peter at the gates”….Well, one of the first things that happened to me after God saved my miserable soul, is an immediate identification of when someone wasn’t telling the truth regarding God’s word, though I myself wasn’t knowledgable of it much at the time. Years went on, and sadly, as my autistic son become more and more self-abusive, I became more and more angry at God, finally just tossing the Bible in the garbage (only to retrieve it later in tears…but you get the picture…) This kind of tumultuous relationship with God went on and on for years, and probably not until a few months ago did it really stop, when I realized, HEY, In this life I will have trouble, this is NOT a Kingdom. This is NOT a paradise. I don’t need to find “purpose” in my life, God decides what my purpose is, as I choose to obey HIM. And, by the way, not having “enough faith” isn’t the reason my son has punched himself in the head for years, though that’s what some Christians told me. Now that’s a real mood brightener, to think your autistic child slams his fists into head all these years, because, well, ya didn’t have enough “FAITH.” I don’t know why God has allowed such a brutal and savage behavior to go on for over 18 years, despite an army of professionals. And it doesn’t matter. I don’t need to know. What I need to know is what God says in His word, because outside of Him, I can do nothing.

  8. KO

That is quite a story KO and you brought tears to my eyes! KO, can I tell you that although I don’t know the pain you experience first hand, I CAN tell you that I know too a little degree (like 1%) what you are going through. I went too your website I hope people read it and learn a bit about what you are going through. There is much about the brain we don’t know and when things go wrong, boy do things only go wrong. The worst is to be told you have little faith or even WORSE that it’s demonic! 🙁

May Jesus look after you and your son. TRUST in HIM KO, TRUST HIM that He will help you and look after you day in and day out – take each day as it comes. Jesus PROMISED us in His Word that He would look after us and believe it or not, HE DOES 😉 Look how far you have come through so many trials and tribulations. He knows your pain, but He knows your heart too. Be strong and NEVER TURN YOUR BACK on Jesus, because HE IS THE ONLY ONE on your side!

  9. SSBG says:

Deborah, are you familiar with Christian Research Institute (Hank Hanegraaff)? They seem to be fundamental but do not believe in pre-trib rapture.

  10. Woody Bailey says:

I noticed a photo of Bill Johnson. Can someone please tell me what makes him a false teacher? I have my reservations about him and some of his associations, but I need more input from others who have studied his teachings.
    Blessings,
    Woody Bailey
    Goshen, IN

  11. Robbie says:

    Woody

He teaches a Word of Faith gospel, and as such is a false teacher. Johnson is in error for teaching some of the hellfire doctrines of the movement.

Johnson loves Benny Hinn, and Hinn is no question a false teacher.

Johnson also calls those who exposed Tattoo Todd Bentley as a false prophet “sharks”.

    by your friends and fruits…

  12. Burning Lamp says:

SSBG, if you don’t mind I will attempt to answer your question. Hanegraaff has a portion of the truth, but is mixed up in his eschatology and promotes it through his program. He also is a pal of Rick Warren. There are other concerns, but personally I don’t listen to him or recommend him to anyone. There are other more reliable sources.

  13. SSBG says:

Ahaa, I have subsequently found out that Hank Hanegraaff has partial preterist views..

  14. SSBG says:

I have a question (I am not sure if this is the correct forum): I heard someone saying that the blood of Jesus broke the curse so we can appropriate the blood of Jesus to our finances and our general well-being. The consequence of this statement is that we should expect financial blessings and God’s protection against dangers because the blood of Christ “purchased” this for us. Nowhere in the scriptures do I read that the blood of Jesus gives us this – His blood broke the curse of sin and eternal damnation and this doesn’t mean we should expect financial gain or even physical protection. What do you think??

  15. SSBG

If you can’t find it in the Bible then it’s false 🙂 Jesus’ blood WASHES AWAY our sin thereby enabling us to stand before our Heavenly Father SPOTLESS. It now means the Holy Spirit can come and abide in you because you have CLEANED OUT your HOME for HIM. It has nothing to do with financial gain, or physical gain at all.

  16. Robbie says:

    Debs.
and that means… when someone wants to pray the blood of Jesus over me I’ll say…
    “thanks!… but I’m covered”

  17. Dave says:

Deborah if it isn’t too much to ask can you put the name of each one of the Fake Prophets so if some of us recognize someone could search for him at the net, however i just wanted to know the name of the one second from up to down at the right superior corner, white hair mustache and glasses. Looks like a FP in Mejico.

I have been aware of Stephen’s website http://www.speakgodspeak.com since 2008 and watching his website since then. I happen to remember that back then there was a testimonial by Bishop Jordan on Stephen’s website including a photo of Bishop Jordan, where Bishop Jordan gave a glowing recommendation and acclamation of Stephen Choate’s anointing and prophetic gift.

Today, this photo and statement by Bishop Jordan is no longer on Stephen’s website….instead Stephen denies having any affiliation with Jordan. I suspect this is because of the negative publicity he may have been getting due to having been somehow affiliated to Jordan who is so obviously a false prophet dabbling in numerology and new age occult techniques.

I just wanted to clarify this, because in my previous comment I said Stephen had a link to Bishop Jordan…..whereas today on his website he blatantly denies any affiliation.

The fact remains that on Phil Cooke’s blog Stephen supports and defends Bishop Jordan openly….in his own words he said “The Anointing on Bernard Jordan’s life is amazing. The presence of God around him is also powerful”. Which just goes to show that Stephen was unable to discern a false prophet.

Stephen reports to have had numerous visitations from “Jesus”….and he also seems to believe that extra-biblical “knowledge” and supernatural experiences are superior and make him more spiritually mature. He tries to use the “accuracy” of his prophecies to prove that God exists. (obviously God does not need to prove Himself to anyone, and God would not expect someone to receive payment for proving that He exists by selling prophecies…)

On Stephen’s website he has an article about “Michael Jackson’s departure” where it says that people are always trying to disprove him (i.e. Stephen) and that only the wise, mature, and intelligent will connect with Stephen for a prophetic word because only those with spiritual discernment will understand his gift.

Folks….according to his website that makes me stupid and immature. So be it – there is no way I am requesting a “prophetic word” from the dark kingdom. I say run from this ministry…and don’t look back!

While Stephen seems to be a nice person and while he seems to be a well-meaning christian (who am i to judge anyway), this does not mean that he can’t be deceived. ANYBODY including believers can be deceived, that’s precisely why the Bible warns us about false prophets. Please understand that my comments here are not meant to be attacks on Stephen personally, rather I am voicing my concerns and trying to warn the public. Because many christians these days are making the mistake of running to prophets all the time to receive personal prophecies, instead of developing discernment and building their own relationship with Jesus. Admittedly I too have made this mistake in the past…and it only caused havoc and problems in my life!
Nowhere in the Bible does God instruct us to seek personal prophecies from so-called prophets like a fortune-telling service! God has already given us his Word as well as the Holy Spirit to live by and to direct our path.

  19. anon says:

    Hi!

I just wanted to make the public aware of another “prophet for profit” called Stephen Chaote, since you have the platform here to do it. His website can be found at http://www.speakgodspeak.com. He sells prophecies and seems to have links to other false prophets such as Bernard Jordan. While he professes to be a Christian and says that Jesus Christ as the only way to God, his prophecies are mostly about worldly things like cars, money, jobs, Michael Jackson……looks more like a fortune-telling service – and he deems supernatural encounters more important than the Word – which should send alarm bells ringing!

While he seems to have a loyal following, there have also been many complaints about
him at various places on the internet easily found with google (enter his name and the word “complaint”).

Looking forward to hearing other’s feedback

    Thank you

  20. Jan says:

Mike Bickle is a false prophet deceiving millions. He, along with Rick Joyner are channeling dreams and visions from demonic forces. Mike has been preaching the same ‘messages’ as occultic mediums Jane Lead from the 16th century and Alice Bailey who channeled the New Age from Satanic forces for 30 years.

Through false teachers like Bickle, Rick Joyner and Rick Warren, the church is becoming just as Bailey predicted. She said that in order for the “Great Lord” (antichrist) to come, the church would become ‘Inclusive”, “Free from (written) Doctrine)” and “Transformed”. This is happening now as we see the current Church becoming Universal, Occultic and Militant . (“A Treatise on the Seven Rays”)

1)Universal, in that doctrinal lines are being erased to bring ‘everyone in’.

2)Occultic, in that the Logos, the written word of God is being eradicated. (This is happening two-fold. The Fundamentals now embrace non-Biblical translations (the NIV and the “Message”) and the charismatics are looking to the (false) voice of God (Rhema) instead of the written word (the Logos).

3)Transformed in that men will be ‘transformed’ by Satan, become possessed and seek to persecute believers. Alice Bailey prophesied that the coming ‘rain of the spirit’ would ‘render men allegiant to the “Christ”. (antichrist).

Even now, the ‘old wineskins’ are thought of as the Enemy because they adhere to the written word of God ONLY for Truth, and they are ‘in the way’ of the coming Emerging (Fundamental) Global (Charismatic ) One World (Occultic) Church. Enter the “Davidic Wars” prophesied by mystic Jane Lead. The ‘spirit people’ are the “Davids’ and will become more militant in their goal to eradicate the “Sauls”, the non-spirit people. These ‘god-men’ will be supernaturally empowered. Mike Bickle talks often of “Davidic Wars” and also promotes the “Elijah List”, the same as what Jane Lead prophesied: That in the end times men would go about in the ‘spirit of Elijah” to eradicate non-spirit people. So, Bickle and Joyner’s “Warrior Bride” is not the bride of Christ but the coming militant One World Church. The Church is turning on itself. Even now false apostles are teaching that the ‘tares’ are those that reject spirit-realm revelations and must be removed

Also, Bickles unbiblical sensual “passion for Jesus”, paradigm shift, transition, synergy, prayer walking, and the Harp and Bowl are ALL connected to the occultic agenda to bring in the antichrist, called NEW BEGINNINGS! Apostates like Rick Joyner dismiss the Rapture which puts the church on the same bandwagon as the occultics and the world in looking for “the King”. THE FALSE KING! Scripture tells us that Jesus comes as the bridegroom first to remove His church, (I Thessalonians 4:16, 17) then comes back as King at His second coming WITH His church. (I Thessalonians 3:13) Any other “King” coming before, is the Man of Sin masquerading as the Man of Peace the Bible warns about. Bickle also says ‘no rapture’ means the “church’ will ‘execute judgment during the Tribulation” but it will be the HARLOT CHURCH, not the bride of Christ. (John 16:2) (Revelation 17:6) (Revelation 6:9,10) that will execute judgement against believers.

We are to daily put on the armor of God and STAND, not fight, but we will have been removed anyway, and will be at the Bema seat of Christ recieving rewards at this time. (11 Corinthians 5:10) The Church, permanently justified in Christ’s blood, (I Corinthians 6:11, Revelation 3: 10) will not go through the judgment of the Tribulation. The Church is not a militant entity anyway as one of the symbols is the dove, for peace. The symbol now in churches, representing the coming One World Church, is the eagle, a war bird !

Also if you investigate any occultic jargon, you will see that Mike Bickle and Rick Warren’s “New Gospel”, “New Jesus”, “New Grace”, “New Rain of the Spirit” “New Song”, “New Hallelujah”, “New Message”, “Fresh” Word of God, “New Manchild”, “New Purpose”, “Elijah List” and “Davidic Wars” all come straight out of the New Age Movement . Bickle’s “Birthing the global church” is the same as the occultic ‘birthing the One World Church.” Bickle’s Feast of Tabernacles is also the same as the occultic Planetary Pentecost! Bickle’s “Corporate Christ” is the same as the occultic “Cosmic Christ!” Bickles’ Contemplative Prayer” is the same as the occultic ‘transcendental meditation.

Romans 16:17 tells us to contend for doctrine and avoid those who teach contrary to the doctrine we have learned,” but the TBN crowd says to avoid those who teach doctrine and now Bereans are called Heresy Hunters! Rick Joyner’s militant push for churches to join “the River” is the same ecumenical River pushed by occultics (Matthew Fox) to form their One World Church. “New Wave of the Spirit” is another New Age term describing a (false) Rhema that will come inhabit the minds of men so they will follow the antichrist, yet that term is in churches today! But with mantras replacing hymns, and chanting replacing Biblical prayer, many unbelievers are being prepared for this ‘transformation’ by a false coming Rhema. (New Rain of the Spirit) Alice Bailey even predicted that ‘as more and more demons descend into the minds of men, the church will think its the Holy Spirit” ! (“A Treatise on the Seven Rays”)

The Bible tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is self control (Galatians 5:22) but Bickle tells us its screaming, fainting, shaking, jerking and changes in skin color!? ! The Bible tells us to be sober (Titus 2) but Bickle promotes drunkeness from the “New Wine” that churches around the world are partaking of. This literally is the world consuming the “cup of abominations” (Revelation 17)…the One World Philosophy that Jesus warned would come.

Satan is alive and well and is bringing in his kingdom through the Fundamental “Emerging” Church and the Charismatic “Global” church. NOWHERE in Scripture does it say there will be a Global Harvest but rather, the world will wax worse and worse. II Timothy, 4:3 “For the time will come that men will no longer endure SOUND DOCTRINE.” Instead of staying within the confines of God’s written word, Bickle uses dreams, visions, trances and anything supernatural for ‘truth’, yet Jesus always said, “It is WRITTEN”. He also said “MANY false prophets would arise, (Matthew 24) using signs and wonders to deceive the world.” Just as Bickle, Joyner and Rick Warren are doing.

Charismatic John Wimber said, “Unless a man sees signs and wonders he CANT believe.” (Power Evangelism) But JESUS said, “Unless a man sees signs and wonders, he WONT believe.” John 4:48 Bickle tells us to “look for manifestations” but Jesus said, “Search the SCRIPTURES for they testify of Him.” John 5 Bickle truly is preparing the world for the antichrist’s deception through signs and wonders. Occultics have been researching Matthew 24 and are getting closer to their coming deception of the ‘antichrist coming in the clouds’ to fool the world, which will be accomplished through technology and Satanic means. The true Church will have been raptured but those left behind who rejected the Gospel will fall for the great delusion.

God help those who have fallen for these false prophets and doctrines of demons that Timothy and Paul warned us about! “Come out of her, my people…” Revelation 18:4

Kevin, checked out your site – quite a testimony. These people are much more than loony tunes, there is definitely a deeper and darker spirit at work amongst these folks. Interesting that the folks who are “following” you are into all kinds of bad stuff – one nice-looking older lady likes Karen Wheaton? Good grief!!!

    @ Deborah

Let me make it really easy for you to understand. I endorse ONE BOOK. It’s called the Bible.

Hope that clears things up for you.

The above books are not just 1% error or so, but totally erroneous – therefore this list serves as a WARNING.

    ””

These people also read the Bible and base there doctrines on scripture. To them they have received revelation from the Holy Ghost. Who would not want to be healthy, wealthy and bound for paradise. That is the gospel people want and there will always be some one to tickle there ears. That of course does not excuse there delusion. As they say there is a sucker born every minute and most of them seem to be in the USA.

  24. Kevin Kleint says:

    Hi Burning Lamp,

Yes, I know quite a few people who are on my FB are kind of “one foot in and one foot out” of the prophetic movement. Some people have a hard time breaking out of that kind of mindset. Oftentimes, they have many friends who are still very involved in it and constantly speak twisted “scripture-like” advice to them. I just hope that I can encourage them to get into God’s Word and find out for themselves that, in order to stand upon the Rock, you need to leave these unstable teachings and ways behind. Like I said in my posts, I live in Albany, OR – home of the Elijah List, and to be constantly confronted with this pseudo-christianity can be a real challenge.

    Many blessings, Kevin

  28. Brother John says:

    Hi,

after reading many hundreds of posts on your blog, I find myself compelled to write something myself…

It seems, that most people on here have had bad experiences in life and have not had their prayers answered the way they thought they should, or people had told them things like “you don’t have enough faith” or they have had prophetic words not come to pass or they see poor doctrine being preached by manny of the people on tv at the moment…

So have I …. I have had delays, seemingly unanswered prayers, sicknesses in my body, told I need more faith, see and hear things I don’t agree with and all the other things most of you can relate to in life… Yet, I find it hard to believe that you all would put down ministries like you do, just because they belong to one “camp” or another…
So what if they are of the Faith camp, and not of the Prophetic ccamp, or of the Prophetic camp and not of the Holiness movement, or of the Holiness movement and not of the River movement or not of the Fire movement or the Evangelical movement or any other movement or camp that is out there.

Did not Paul say by the Holy Spirit that we are all memebers of the one body and that if one member hurts, then the whole body hurts??? If one part rejoices, then the whole body rejoices???
Call me simplistic, but instead of pulling ministries down for “bad doctrine”, and error, how about we make sure that we all have sound doctrine, by giving ourselfs to the study of the Word of God through the Holy Spirit who Jesus sent to us in His stead, for He will show us all this (see John 14, 15 16 for the ministry of the Holy Spirit)… Time spent pulling people down is time wasted in my opinion as we never get that time again. Isaiah 26 vs 3 says that God will keep us in perfect peace if we have our mind on Him… Paul encourages us to be anxious for nothing, but in everything BY prayer and supplications, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus…

That is how our time should be taken up with, keeping our minds on God the Father, all that He is and all that He has given to us through Jesus Christ and the promise of the blessing of Abraham which is the Holy Spirit (Galaions 3vs14) … and not throwing stones in glass houses…

Lets make 2013 a year of victory instead of negative pursuits… God has got perfect peace for those who want it, no matter what is happening aound us. We just have to believe Him; isn’t that what faith is anyway???

  29. Redeemed says:

    @ Brother John:

Apparently you don’t see the need to DEFEND sound doctrine? You call this throwing stones at glass houses?

You don’t see the HARM that is done by false teachers who lead people astray? You don’t see that false teaching HURTS people, the sheep of the Lord? You think it is right to turn a blind eye to this? You quote the “be anxious for nothing” verse out of context and misapply it.

You must think the Apostle Paul and others who spent much of their lives exposing false teaching and warning the flock to STAY AWAY from false teachers were wasting their time and mistaken. Apparently you do not understand that wolves are devouring the sheep. We are to each mind our own business and not let it concern us? Isn’t that the height of selfishness?

God will hold accountable those like yourself who do not alert others of dangerous and destructive false doctrine. There are many FALSE gospels that send people to an eternal hell.

Negative pursuits? That is how you see the work of discernment? It seems you need a good dose of reality.
