Collage of False Prophets and False Teachers

Collage of False prophets and teachersThere are millions of false teachers and false prophets in the world today, below is a list of just some of the the major false prophets and teachers around.

Matt 7:15-20 Jesus says, “Beware of the FALSE PROPHETS, who come to you in SHEEP’S CLOTHING but INWARDLY ARE RAVENOUS WOLVES. You can identify them by their FRUIT, that is, by the way they ACT. Can you pick grapes from Thornbushes, or Figs from Thistles? (17) A GOOD TREE produces GOOD FRUIT, and a BAD TREE produces BAD FRUIT. A GOOD TREE can’t produce BAD FRUIT, and a BAD TREE can’t produce GOOD FRUIT. So every TREE that does not produce GOOD FRUIT is chopped down and thrown into the Fire. Yes, just as you can identify a TREE by its FRUIT, so you can IDENTIFY PEOPLE BY THEIR ACTIONS.”

Matt 24:4-5 Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone Mislead you, for MANY will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive MANY.”

Matt 7:21-23 Jesus warns, “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the WILL OF MY FATHER in Heaven will enter. On Judgment Day MANY will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We PROPHESIED IN YOUR NAME and Cast out demons in your Name and Performed many Miracles in your Name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who BREAK GOD’S LAWS.”

Matt 24:11 Jesus says, “MANY FALSE PROPHETS will appear and will deceive MANY people.”

I found this on the net about Joseph Prince just google his name and the words exposed as false teacher. Just Posting an excerpt for you read more at link.

Caution: “Destined to Reign” by Joseph Prince

    BLEST BELIEVERS
In Chapter 1, I learned that God has called us as Christians to be a success, to enjoy wealth, to enjoy health, and to enjoy a life of victory. As soon as we understand his principals , we will see how easy and effortless the Christian walk really is. Prince uses Romans 5:17 …“For by one man‘s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through one Jesus Christ” He then states that the word reign used here comes from the word basiluo (Greek) translated to basilica in English.. Since, he says, basilicas were used as law courts, that means we would have a kingly rule. Well, that’s a stretch to begin with. A basilica is simply a style of building that makes it good for any assembly including meeting places, law courts, funeral homes and often churches. Adam Clarke, translating from the original Greek, along with any major Bible Scholar I am aware of takes this scripture to mean that we will reign over death as a result of Jesus death and resurrection..
Prince fails to mention what Jesus says to expect if we follow him.

Living in a country with abundant wealth such as Singapore (where Prince lives) or the United States certainly makes it more plausible for persons whether Christian or simply diligent citizens to have a measure of wealth, But, is that God’s plan for everyone who loves him? Certainly and clearly it is not. In fact, Jesus said in Matthew 19:23 that it would be harder for the rich to get into heaven, and in Luke 18;24 he again lamented about how hard it would be for a rich man to get into the Kingdom of Heaven.

A GOD OF MERCY ONLY–(New Revelation)
On page 32 Prince reveals his belief that God is continually restoring his truths to the church and the revelation of the finished work will continue to get stronger. Any time new revelation is taught, we must be reminded of how often this has been the basis of new cult’s such as Mormonism, Jehovah‘s witness, Christian Scientist etc. This new revelation of Prince’s continues to be the gift of righteousness to reign in life. I.e., more grace and less judgment. The loving and merciful side of God is always emphasized in Prince’s teaching.

ALL SINS PAST AND FUTURE WERE FORGIVEN AT THE CROSS.
Prince continually assures the Believer that, although he does not condone sin , all was forgiven when Jesus died for the Believer so we never have to worry about it again. On pg 53 Prince says ‘If you receive a word from someone which brings your sins to remembrance or instills an expectation of punishment for sins in your life, don’t fear it, just throw it out the window..” On page 45, he says that , for the believer, ‘God took all your sins, even the sins that you have not yet committed, and put them all on Jesus. All future sins have been fully judged at the cross.’ On page 138, he states that “Believers are forever righteous. On page 233 he says “you cannot be under grace without becoming holy.” On page 99 he states that he has never encountered anyone who after receiving grace says “now I can go out and sin”. Really???I know of many people who truly served and loved the Lord at one time and have returned to a life of sin–don ‘t you? Just get any church directory from a few years back and you will see how many did not stay the course.

He preaches a lot on ‘grace’. In so much that sin does not exist, only grace. Grace also seems to be a tangible ‘power’ like Faith.

So Grace and Faith can go to the movies together as they seem to have personalities of their own.

  8. Grant C says:

    Mark

Here is a complete list of true prophets, as you requested:

In the Old Testament you will find the full list of names of the Old Testament prophets, whose job it was to tell, mainly the Jews, of what was to come and what God’s Will was, while in expectation of the Messiah. You see they didn’t have the Bible back then for instruction, which is why they needed prophets.

In the New Testament you will find the greatest Prophet, Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets. Therefore today, all that really matters to believers, is that we await the return of Jesus, which will be the fulfillment of the important prophesies He made Himself.

As for prophets who might have been around since the completion of the New Testament, I am struggling to find one. The problem seems to be that, since Jesus and the Apostles did all the necessary prophesying, there was no prophecy that could have been added to the completed Word of God.

Sorry Mark, there aren’t any true prophets to list other than those in the Bible. If you have more information on this, please let us know.

  11. Mark says:

OK, maybe the wrong question. What I am wondering is, are there any contemporary bible teachers that you would endorse. You have a long list of those you label as false. I’m just wondering who you consider to be reliable teachers. Obviously we need to test everyone’s teaching and the Bible is our final authority. If a teacher has one wrong idea does that make them a “false teacher” or just a teacher with a wrong idea. Everybody must admit to having some error’s in their thinking and interpretation of the Bible. We are all learning and growing. Some teachers are into significant error and some are deliberately trying to mislead, or maybe some are working out of so much brokenness in their own life that they are unreliable and need to sort their own issues first. However the bulk of local church pastors and many public teachers are just at a place in their own journey where most of what they teach is sound and comes from a genuine love of God and His people – maybe they have some error but the humble ones are willing to learn.

So to say a teacher is trustworthy and reliable is not to say they are 100% free of error. Rather their teaching is generally reliable, they have the humilty to listen to critique and to be corrected if needed, they love God, the people of God and the Bible.

So is their anyone you would endorse, or maybe give a 7 or a 8 out of 10?

  12. Mark

Let me make it really easy for you to understand. I endorse ONE BOOK. It’s called the Bible.

Hope that clears things up for you.

The above books are not just 1% error or so, but totally erroneous – therefore this list serves as a WARNING.

  13. Burning Lamp says:

Mark, it is risky business to endorse any Bible teachers these days when they are falling like dominos and their faithful followers fail to hold them accountable but rather continue to follow them.

Certainly there is no perfect teacher – but we need to be sensitive to red flags and then address them. If the teacher will not respond that is a bad sign. They will only sink deeper into error. Run, don’t walk away from them. The most dangerous ones are those who mix truth and error.

Like Debs, says, there is only one standard of truth for the believer and that is the Word of God, a reliable translation, not some watered-down paraphrase. And never, never value any man’s or women’s teachings above what the Word of God is telling you.

A pastor I respect greatly all of a sudden went off into a message that was offbase. I owe it to him to gently and reverently confront him about this. If he blows it off, it will be sad, but I value God’s truth above any man or woman.

The Bible does not teach this. The book of Revelation talks about the blood of prophets in Babylon. The two witnesses prophesy and do miracles like shutting up the heavens. The Bible does not say there will be a gap of 1900+ years without prophets and then the role will be restored.

Prophecy should be very central to our church gatherings. The Bible does not really have that many chapters on what to do in church. The longest section on the topic is I Corinthians 14, where Paul is very positive about the idea of all prophesying. He says ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be comforted.

  16. shote

that’s what it says… there are thousands more, but Christians Research Services did not have enough hours in his life time to find all their pictures.

Oh boy… What on earth have the 2 Witnesses in the End times Tribulation (which the church will not see as we will be raptured) got to do with the conversation that was taking place.

And are you saying that because I Corinthians 14 “ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be comforted.” That now makes everyone a prophet?

Prophecy ceased along with tongues after the bible was written.

Prophecy ceased along with tongues after the bible was written.

I do not believe that ‘ye may all prophesy’ makes all prophets. But the passage also speaks of prophets.

Please re-read my post and run a word search on ‘prophet’ in the book of Revelation. The book of Revelation speaks of the blood of ‘prophets’ in Babylon. The two witnesses _prophesy_ and perform certain miracles.

If one holds to a futurist view of Revelation, and believes that the two witnesses will literally prophesy, then it makes little sense to say that the gift of prophecy has ceased. If one is going to hold to that view, then one has to believe that prophecy ceases and restarts again. But how is that possible if prophecy has been done away with?

An irony is that the many of the eschatological views that people hold to today either were popularized by, or in some cases originated with the Plymouth Brethren Movement. (Darby did not invent pre-trib. He got it from an anti-Reformation priest’s writings apparently. But he certainly popularized it. And not all the Brethren accepted it, e.g. George Muller.) The irony is that Plymouth Brethren also believe in prophesying in church.

I believe a more pertinent issue is that the faith has once been delivered to the saints. The faith has been delivered, and is not to be modified, but that does not mean that the gift of prophecy is no more. It will continue at least until the time of the two witnesses.

Some people use I Corinthians 13 as a proof text to argue that prophecy has ceased. I notice some theologians like John MacArthur don’t do that, even though he thinks certain gifts have ceased. He sees the passage as referring to ‘the eternal state.’

I see a good case for the idea that Paul is referring to the state that will occur at the resurrection at the return of Christ. This fits the structure of the passage. The passage mentions:

    * speaking in tongues
    * prophecy
    * the coming of the perfect

    The next chapters discuss:

    * speaking in tongues
    * prophecy
    * the resurrection at Christ’s coming.

This also fits with some of the themes Paul sets up at the beginning of the epistle, when he gives us a hint about what he will write about. We read:

    I Corinthians 1:
7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Wow. I’ve never met anyone here on the earth with a perfect view of eschatology. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone else who would claim that either.

  21. Link

Seeing that you’ve admitted your anti-rapture view is possibly incorrect. I suggest you go and research it again.

  22. Paul says:

There is no Rapture. If you can show irt to me in the Scrip[tures I will believe it. I always look at the origin as part of my research before acceptong anything. Can anything good come out of the Roman Catholic Church? The Rapture was never known before about 150 years ago. It was touted by an irish, Jesuit Priest – I forgat his name, google it.

The two witnesses are 1. The word of God an 2. His Church here on Earth – Us.

  23. Paul says:

P.S. People confuse the rapture with the three resurrections and the second death.

  24. Paul

I have many articles on this and answered all answers in the comments sections of each article. I’ve studied the matter most thoroughly. You should read my latest article.

  25. Burning Lamp says:

Paul, sorry, but you are the one who is confused. Debs has covered this topic from stem to stern documenting everything and giving chapter and verse. Why don’t you go back over that before commenting? There are also many other Bible scholars who have addressed the topic and dispelled the false idea that the Rapture is a modern concept.

Do you not know of the Blessed Hope? Don’t allow Satan to rob you of it.

You are misrepresenting my views. I believe in the pre-trib rapture. I believe it occurs immediately preceding the resurrection of the saints as we see in II Thessalonians 2 and I Corinthians 15. I believe the dead are raised and the living saints are raptured at Christ’s coming, not seven years before it.

And my previous post was expressing surprise at your claiming to have a perfect understanding of eschatology. I have never heard any of the famous pre-trib teachers say such a thing. How do you define ‘perfect understanding?’

  27. Link says:

    Paul wrote:

P.S. People confuse the rapture with the three resurrections and the second death.

    Paul,

What do you believe Paul the apostle meant when he wrote that the dead in Christ will rise first and that they which are alive and remain will be ___caught up__ to meet the Lord in the air?

Do you believe that this will happen or not?

  28. Link says:

Oops, I left out a crucial word in the post before last. I meant to write that I do NOT believe int he pre-trib rapture.

I do believe in the rapture. I can find scriptures that put the timing of the rapture at the second coming. All the arguments I encounter for pre-trib are based on elaborate arguments with a lot of assumptions. I used to be pre-trib, but I realized I could not reconcile it with scripture.

  29. Link

Oh boy… Link. Please. You are here to cause a fight and not add value. I say it’s perfect because the Word of God is perfect and I am going to be included in the Rapture before the tribulation so I have no real need to fuss over things that don’t concern me and never will.
