Chris OyakhilomeChris Oyakhilome – Jesus is NOT Gods Word anymore, You are!!

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome says:  You Are God’s Word!   –  March 23rd, 2010

“God gives us His Words for the purpose of making us His word…”

Do you know you are God’s Word?  When you were born again, you were born by the Word of God. This means your destiny in the realm of the Spirit is to be the Word of God because you were born by the word of God. It means your nature is of the Word and your character is of the word. Glory to God!

Mountains and hills refer to authority (Isaiah 55:1- 12) and they shall break forth before you; the trees which are people shall clap their hands as you pass by! Isn’t this awesome?  That’s what God’s word says about you. Are you ready to accept it and function therein?  —    [Emphasis added]

In this snippet from video below:

The Entrance of Thy Words – a teaching by a supposed ‘man of God’, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome – learn more on this unbiblical FALSE identity…

Chris Oyakhilome you blaspheme.  To think you are a god or on the way to becoming one is heretical.  You should be bowing before Jesus Christ, but you want Him to bow down to you.  Christ Oyakhilome please repent of this vile doctrine before it’s too late.

What does the bible say, who is the only one that is divine?

Divinity of Jesus Christ

John 1:1-5

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The Word of God Made Flesh, that is Jesus Christ

John 1:14-18

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
John 1:16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

This is the exact same thing that Satan said to Adam and Even in the garden of Eden:

Genesis 3:4-6

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

This is what God thinks of mere men who want to be Him:

Ezekiel 28:1-2,6-10

Ezek 28:1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Ezek 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
Ezek 28:6 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;
Ezek 28:7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.
Ezek 28:8 They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.
Ezek 28:9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Ezek 28:10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

The Bible says, “I said, You are gods” – But is this entirely true?

Many a preacher today teaches that we are gods, or little gods, based on the incorrect interpretation of scripture.  Some are very subtle in the way they teach this message, others come out right and just say it.

The verse they will show you to try prove their point is   John 10:34;   “Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”‘?

But let me explain what Jesus really meant:

Jesus was in dialogue with the Jews of His day and quoting from the Old Testament Psalms, saying:  “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”‘?  The Jews wanted to stone Jesus for calling God His Father and making Himself equal with God.  So Jesus quotes Pslam 82 to them to show the distinction between himself and those in Pslam 82 who were called ‘gods’.

Pslam 82 was written AGAINST certain unjust rulers in Israel’s history.  Men of high distinction (Judges/Rulers) were almost seen as gods because of the power they wielded over the nation.  The problem is these men were UNJUST.  Verse 82:2  says:  “How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? and verses 6-7 say,  6 “I said, “You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High.”  7 But you shall die like men,  And fall like one of the princes.”  So these rulers are not gods, they were given this name by mere men, but were they still children of God?  Yes.  But they will die like everyone else.  So the point Jesus was making was that if unjust rulers can be called gods (by men), how can the Jews who wanted to stone Him object to Him saying that he was the Son of God?

Can you see how easily scripture gets twisted and the next minute you have men and women running around teaching New Age teachings under the banner of Christianity.

BEWARE of ANYONE who tells you that you can be a God or Christ.  When you become a born again Christian you grow to become more Christ-like, you DO NOT become like Christ or a Christ or anything Divine for that matter.  However in Charismatic churches you do; you become a little god – ‘Faith’ becomes an actual force that you wield at your command as you speak things into existence.  This is totally and utterly occult.  The New Age religion believes in something similar, that each person is a god/goddess, they just have not realised it yet – a god trapped in a human body part of a huge cosmos – trying to turn the world into one spiritual tower of Babel.

THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD:

1. Deuteronomy 4:35,39 – Unto thee it was shown, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him. (39) Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

2. Deuteronomy 6:4 – Hear, O Israel: The LORD thy God is one LORD. [Note in Mark 12:28-34 how Jesus and a Jewish scribe he encountered understood this text.]

3. Deuteronomy32:39 – See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

4. 2 Samuel 7:22 – Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God; for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

5. 1 Kings 8:60 – That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

6. 2 KINGS 5:15 – And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel; now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.

7. 2 Kings 19:15 – And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

8. 1 Chronicles 17:20 – O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

9. Nehemiah 9:6 – Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou has made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.

10. Psalm 18:31 – For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

11. Psalm 86:10 – For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.

12. Isaiah 37:16,20 – O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou has made heaven and earth. (20) Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.

13. Isaiah43:10,11 – Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior.

14. Isaiah44:6,8 – Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Fear ye not, neither be afraid; have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

15. Isaiah 45:21 – Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time: who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me.

16. Isaiah 46:9 – For I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.

17. Hosea 13:4 – Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me; for there is no savior beside me.

18. Joel 2:27 – And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

19. Zechariah 14:9 – And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

20. Mark 12:29-34 -And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

21. John 17:3 – And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

22. Romans 3:30 – Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

23. 1 Corinthians 8:4-6 – As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

24. Galatians 3:20 – Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

25. Ephesians 4:6 – One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

26. 1 Timothy 1:17 – Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

27. 1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

28. James 2:19 – Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

thanks for the clip, Deborah! amazing how this people (well most of them) can distort the Bible like that! There’ll be a lot of hand-clapping going on all over if this is true, hey?

  2. Thomas Lessing says:

Replacement theology, one of the heresies of reformed theology, believes that the church has replaced Israel as a nation. Henceforth all the blessings (please note: never the curses)have been transferred to the church. But this is impossible because the church as an entity (body of Christ)with the middle wall of partition broken down between Jews and Gentiles (Ephesians 2:11-17)was a mystery (unknown) in the Old Testament (Colossians 1:26). A mystery (“musterion”) is something that was unknown in the past but is now revealed to God’s saints.

The prophet Isaiah describes the reinstatement of the remnant of Israel at Jesus’ Second Advent (not the Rapture) when He will set up his Millennium Kingdom on earth with its headquarters in Jerusalem. Even nature will be joyful then and metaphorically “clap their hands.” (Isaiah 55:12b). Paul says of this: “For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship]. (Romans 8: 19). This is going to occur, as I said, when He establishes his Millennium reign on earth and vast changes in nature are going to take place (Isaiah 65:25).

  3. Bloomie says:

I am just beginning to learn about Replacement Theology.. It’s extremely disturbing. It reads as if this docrtine would be in the gospel of Judas, which is a heresy.
My prayers are for my friends that have been swept away by this, “HATH GOD SAID THEOLOGY.” And yes, I do understand that the palatibilty of a doctrine does not determine it’s veracity.

  4. Fanie says:

I confronted a Chris Oyakhilome fan with this exposé and she replied- I am a god, just read Psalm 82:
Psa 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Psa 82:7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
    Say what?

  5. Fanie

    Say what?

Do you want the short and simple answer to this, or the short and simple answer to this? Ok I will give you the short and simple answer:

Psa 82:1 A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
Psa 82:2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
Psa 82:3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Psa 82:4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
Psa 82:5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
Psa 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Psa 82:7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
Psa 82:8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

This is speaking about men, kings who were judges, they defended, judged and gave out justice and sometimes were unjust themselves – they held the power of gods/judges but are still the children of the Most High. They have the power of a little god or little judge on earth but they will die like men. <— this points to the fact that this verse is NOT speaking about divinity.

The "I wanna be a little god crowd" love to quite that verse. Got nothing to do with being an actual god but a judge. Like the highest constitutional judge in SA would be what this psalm would refer to as a god (the power he/she wields over the people of the nation) But God created the world and will HE will judge the world including these little human judges.

  6. Robbie says:

Faan, vergelyk bietjie Ex.22:9 met “strongsH430” Hier praat hulle van “Judges” en gebruik dieselfde verwysing as in Ps 82.

Look also…Isa 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Dan 3:29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

Se vir haar sy beter haar huis oppas!

  7. Elmarie A says:

    Robbie & Fanie

Ja want anders gaan die huis so lyk ne julle lol lol

On a more serious note yes, those are the Joyce Meyer favorite ones too they just forget/refuse to read on and see what the Lord God says actually he is admonishing these people who think they are little gods. God is very upset with the people in this verse. The small letter g is used here in the Scripture take note.

  8. keak says:

Im not a member of Christ Embassy , and I thought whoever posted this video was going to post proof that Chris O said
” Jesus is nolonger the word of God” which they havent. Personally, i dont see anthing wrong with what he’s saying in your upload. We are born of the Word of God – born of incorruptible seed. We are called to be the manisfestation of God’s glory, which we cannot be unless we are re-created after the nature of God which we are. People, we have got the divine life of God living in us. We are called to virtue and glory.

You are born of the word of God? Really?

  10. Kwaku says:

a similar thing happened in bible days when the jews wanted to stone Jesus for so called blasphemy (john 10).. in the vrs 34 Jesus replied quoting from psalm 82.. that even God called them gods.. the reason why he said they will die like men is bcos they know not.. and neither will they understand.

read john 1: 13.. and tell God that He doesn’t know wat He is talkin about when he says that we have been born again not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man but of GOD..
and then read 1 peter 1:23.. where he says we have been born again by the word of God. now if u r born of the word, wat else can u be but the word of God.. before Jesus death and resurection he was called the only begotten son of God.. after His resurection he was called the first begotten, cos as many as believed in Him, He gave them power to become sons of God.. and he calls us brethren.. if we are joint heirs with him and have His life.. wat else are we??.. romans 8:29 tells us that we have been predestined to be conformed to the image of His son.. so what is the image of His son.. is it not the word??
you see in your ignorance.. you think you are being humble by sayin you are not the word of God.. why dont u jus study the word for your self.. forget the assumptions.. forget the hear say.. and the let the holy spirit guide you into all truth!
cos there is a first adam .. and there is a second
there is an old creation .. and a new creation
there is the old covenant.. and a new covenant
forget what anyone said and look at what the word says

  11. Kwawa

There is a difference between being saved by Jesus Christ and growing, being sanctified to change and live a holy life because of the Holy Spirit that abides in a born again Christian’s life compared too WoF teaching that believes that when you are saved you actually become a little god on earth. And you back up this horrendous teaching buy saying, “if u r born of the word, wat else can u be but the word of God”. NO, you are NOT the Word of God. YOU ARE NOT JESUS CHRIST.

If you are now a little Jesus Christ walking this earth, then heaven help us all.

    Blasphemy.

  12. Kwaku says:

you see that is the mistake you are making.. im not saying i am a lil god now or a lil jesus christ .. no!

i am saying exactly wat God has said.. that
i am a son of God john 1:12
born of the word john 1: 13

  13. Kwaku

    What were you saying?

you say: i am a son of God john 1:12?
I say: The Bible says ‘children’ of God. Not ‘son’ of God. God only has ONE BEGOTTEN Son and that is Jesus Christ – not you.

you say: born of the word john 1: 13?
I say: The Bible says ‘to those who believe in His name’ not “born of the word.”

You can’t go and replace words, or mix and match words or play word games to make up your own bible as you go along.

What bible are you reading? The Chris Oyakhhilome hijacked version?

John 1 (New King James Version)

    The Eternal Word

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

    John’s Witness: The True Light

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own,and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

    The Word Becomes Flesh

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’”
16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

There is your answer, clear as daylight.
    The End.

  14. Chris O says:

It is indeed such a travesty and a tragedy in the church today to see men like Chris Oyakhilome promulgate the damnable heresies and lying vanities which are to e found all through both the doctrine and the practice within the congregational “fellowships” across the globe. I am not against anyone really. I do stand on the side of God, as I am led to believe the beloved brethren of ‘discerning the world’ also make it their careful business to do on this side of eternity.

Kwaku, may I humbly offer you a kind and loving word of counsel on this matter…? Simply believe exactly what the Bible says concerning you and nothing less but ALSO nothing more than that. When the Holy Spirit says in His word of life that we are sons of God, we must also be able to understand this spiritual truth is ONLY made true by the fact that we are born of Christ, THE Son of God. So, it should be plain and simple to rightly discern that if it were not for Christ, we would not be sons of God. Now, it isn’t so much that the word of God is not being cited and/or quoted wrongly by these people, but rather – How is it being applied?
If I say that “I am a son of God” in the contextual meaning of “I’m so highly lifted up and above the rest of you” or “I’m only made for good (material/temporal) things in this world and in this life” or “I’m the very glory of Christ”…then such a one is misled and deceives himself. For this is not what the Scriptures imply and/or mean in what it says.

Twisting of the truth is heresy. Choosing what we desire to believe and confess as a “positive confession” is heresy. And emphasizing Scriptural truths to the exaltation of the self-nature is a damnable heresy indeed!! Dear Deborah has pointed out the profound and dangerous error in doing this here, and it behooves the prudent and wise man to receive rebuke and correction and to take heed to his/her way. We do not know everything. We cannot know everything. And we are given the holy Scriptures to reprove everything which we hear in the bible’s validating light and final authority. And if we follow the main theme of the teachings of Pastor Christ and exercise our spiritual sensibility to listen to the voice of the Spirit and the living word, we will find as Deborah and others here have drawn out to all, that there is a marked inconsistency and disparate discord between what Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and the Holy Spirit by the hand of the writers of Scriptures is teaching and saying to us.

I pray that the Lord will enlighten and illuminate any darkened heart that is humble in this wise; for the entrance of His word bringeth understanding to the simple. Let’s let the word of God in through the Door, Christ Himself, not by some rathole (and I do not mean that nor speaking slightingly of anyone when I use that metaphor.)

Humbly yours in service to Christ Jesus always (and with no affiliation nor fellowship with Chris Oyakhilome by virtue of my name here. lol.)
    God bless you all.

  15. Ivin says:

Scarier than all this is when preachers say “we are Christ/I am Christ”… speaking of this “transference”. What did the Scripture say? “Many false Christs…”

  16. Kwaku says:

”You can’t go and replace words, or mix and match words or play word games to make up your own bible as you go along.”

hahaha.. so children is different from son.. as in your son is not your child.. hahahaha.. you should look at the greek rendering it says that as many as believed he gave power to become ‘teknon’.. now you find out what teknon means in greek .. hahaha

anywayz if it is the word sons you want to see.. how about
1john 3:2.. which says beloved, now are we the sons of God.. hehe

and from my previous post.. i said i am a son.. cos i was talking about just me.. and that doesn’t amount to twisting the word.. does it??..

  17. Kwaku says:

@chris O.. yes we believe exactly wat the bible says and not more.. this post seems to suggest that chris oyak said that jesus is no longer the word.. but that is not true, thats not what he said( at least from the clip we see above?.. so its lk the contention here now is whether we are also sons of God..

”it should be plain and simple to rightly discern that if it were not for Christ, we would not be sons of God.
For this is not what the Scriptures imply and/or mean in what it says.”

of course how else wud i be a christian if i didnt confess jesus christ as my lord and personal saviour.. now dat is settled

with the good part.. the bible says that all things work together for my good..Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.. and Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.. and also Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.. jus to mention a few.

”Twisting of the truth is heresy. Choosing what we desire to believe and confess as a “positive confession” is heresy. And emphasizing Scriptural truths to the exaltation of the self-nature is a damnable heresy indeed!! ”

who’s talking about self nature here.. no body is exalting the self nature.. see when you are born again.. you are a new creation.. the old has gone.. the new has come..Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.. so he says to put on the new man.. its a new nature now.. the old has gone Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.. and then he says we are partakers of the divine nature..2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.. so nobody is glorifying anything.. look at what the bible says Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.. so who is glorifying who???
and these that follow are the very words of jesus, the son of God, the first born among many brethren(rom 8:29).. Joh 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:..
so Rom 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.. for He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord(1 corinth 1:31).. so what i glory in the lord.. i glory in the fact that he came to die for me to redeem me and to give me a new life..

    Kwaku

anywayz if it is the word sons you want to see.. how about
1john 3:2.. which says beloved, now are we the sons of God.. hehe

Hmmm please read all below about 1John 3:2 read this in context Kwaku.

    1 John 3:1-10 (Amplified Bible)

    1 John 3
1SEE WHAT [[a]an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him.

2Beloved, we are [even here and] now God’s children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [[b]as God’s children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him [c]just as He [really] is.

3And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless).

4Everyone who commits (practices) sin is guilty of lawlessness; for [that is what] sin is, lawlessness (the breaking, violating of God’s law by transgression or neglect–being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will).

5You know that He appeared in visible form and became Man to take away [upon Himself] sins, and in Him there is no sin [[d]essentially and forever].

6No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains [e]in communion with and in obedience to Him–deliberately, knowingly, and [f]habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him].

7[g]Boys (lads), let no one deceive and lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, even as He is righteous.

8[But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].

9No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and [h]habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.

10By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God’s will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow [i]believer in Christ).

1 John 3 – Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary on the Bible

The satisfaction the believer has about Christ, and eternal life through him.

Little does the world know of the happiness of the real followers of Christ. Little does the world think that these poor, humble, despised ones, are favourites of God, and will dwell in heaven. Let the followers of Christ be content with hard fare here, since they are in a land of strangers, where their Lord was so badly treated before them. The sons of God must walk by faith, and live by hope. They may well wait in faith, hope, and earnest desire, for the revelation of the Lord

Jesus. The sons of God will be known, and be made manifest by likeness to their Head. They shall be transformed into the same image, by their view of him. (1Jn 3:3-10)

    Geneva Study Bible

{3} Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be {c} like him; for we shall see him {d} as he is.

    (3) The other: This dignity is not fully revealed to us ourselves, much less to strangers, but we are sure of the accomplishment of it, in as much as we shall be like the Son of God himself and shall enjoy his sight indeed, such as he is now, but yet this is deferred until his next coming.

    (c) Like, but not equal.

    (d) For now we see as in a glass 1Co 13:12

    People’s New Testament

3:2 Now are we the sons of God. Already we have the great privilege of being sons,

and it doth not yet appear what we shall be. Our future glory is not yet manifest. Even we ourselves cannot understand it.

But we know that, when he shall appear. One glorious revelation has been made. At the coming of Christ

we shall be like him. Then we shall be like him in body. See Php 3:21. We shall also be found morally in his image.

For we shall see him as he is. To look upon him has power to change us into his glory. See 2Co 3:18.

    Wesley’s Notes

3:2 It doth not yet appear – Even to ourselves. What we shall be – It is something ineffable, which will raise the children of God to be, in a manner, as God himself. But we know, in general, that when he, the Son of God, shall appear, we shall be like him – The glory of God penetrating our inmost substance. For we shall see him as he is – Manifestly, without a veil. And that sight will transform us into the same likeness.

    Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

    2. Beloved-by the Father, and therefore by me.

now-in contrast to “not yet.” We now already are really sons, though not recognized as such by the world, and (as the consequence) we look for the visible manifestation of our sonship, which not yet has taken place.

doth not yet appear-Greek, “it hath not yet (‘at any time,’ Greek aorist) been visibly manifested what we shall be”-what further glory we shall attain by virtue of this our sonship. The “what” suggests a something inconceivably glorious.

but-omitted in the oldest manuscripts. Its insertion in English Version gives a wrong antithesis. It is not, “We do not yet know manifestly what . but we know,” &c. Believers have some degree of the manifestation already, though the world has not. The connection is, The manifestation to the world of what we shall be, has not yet taken place; we know (in general; as a matter of well-assured knowledge; so the Greek) that when (literally, “if”; expressing no doubt as to the fact, but only as to the time; also implying the coming preliminary fact, on which the consequence follows, Mal 1:6; Joh 14:3) He (not “it,” namely, that which is not yet manifested [Alford]) shall be manifested (1Jo 3:5; 2:28), we shall be like Him (Christ; all sons have a substantial resemblance to their father, and Christ, whom we shall be like, is “the express image of the Father’s person,” so that in resembling Christ, we shall resemble the Father). We wait for the manifestation (literally, the “apocalypse”; the same term as is applied to Christ’s own manifestation) of the sons of God. After our natural birth, the new birth into the life of grace is needed, which is to be followed by the new birth into the life of glory; the two latter alike are termed “the regeneration” (Mt 19:28). The resurrection of our bodies is a kind of coming out of the womb of the earth, and being born into another life. Our first temptation was that we should be like God in knowledge, and by that we fell; but being raised by Christ, we become truly like Him, by knowing Him as we are known, and by seeing Him as He is [Pearson, Exposition of the Creed]. As the first immortality which Adam lost was to be able not to die, so the last shall be not to be able to die. As man’s first free choice or will was to be able not to sin, so our last shall be not to be able to sin [Augustine, The City of God, 22.30]. The devil fell by aspiring to God’s power; man, by aspiring to his knowledge; but aspiring after God’s goodness, we shall ever grow in His likeness. The transition from God the Father to “He,” “Him,” referring to Christ (who alone is ever said in Scripture to be manifested; not the Father, Joh 1:18), implies the entire unity of the Father and the Son.

for, &c.-Continual beholding generates likeness (2Co 3:18); as the face of the moon being always turned towards the sun, reflects its light and glory.

see him-not in His innermost Godhead, but as manifested in Christ. None but the pure can see the infinitely Pure One. In all these passages the Greek is the same verb opsomai; not denoting the action of seeing, but the state of him to whose eye or mind the object is presented; hence the Greek verb is always in the middle or reflexive voice, to perceive and inwardly appreciate [Tittmann]. Our spiritual bodies will appreciate and recognize spiritual beings hereafter, as our natural bodies now do natural objects.

    Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

3:1,2 Little does the world know of the happiness of the real followers of Christ. Let the followers of Christ be content with hard fare here, since they are in a land of strangers, where their Lord was so badly treated before them. The sons of God must walk by faith, and live by hope. They may well wait in faith, hope, and earnest desire, for the revelation of the Lord Jesus. Matthew Henry’s Whole Bible Commentary

    Chapter 3

The apostle here magnifies the love of God in our adoption (v. 1, 2). He thereupon argues for holiness (v. 3), and against sin (v. 4-19). He presses brotherly love (v. 11-18). How to assure our hearts before God (v. 19-22). The precept of faith (v. 23). And the good of obedience (v. 24).

    Verses 1-3

The apostle, having shown the dignity of Christ’s faithful followers, that they are born of him and thereby nearly allied to God, now here,

    I. Breaks forth into the admiration of that grace that is the spring of such a wonderful vouchsafement: Behold (see you, observe) what manner of love, or how great love, the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called, effectually called (he who calls things that are not makes them to be what they were not) the sons of God! The Father adopts all the children of the Son. The Son indeed calls them, and makes them his brethren; and thereby he confers upon them the power and dignity of the sons of God. It is wonderful condescending love of the eternal Father, that such as we should be made and called his sons-we who by nature are heirs of sin, and guilt, and the curse of God-we who by practice are children of corruption, disobedience, and ingratitude! Strange, that the holy God is not ashamed to be called our Father, and to call us his sons! Thence the apostle,

II. Infers the honour of believers above the cognizance of the world. Unbelievers know little of them. Therefore (or wherefore, upon this score) the world knoweth us not, v. 1. Little does the world perceive the advancement and happiness of the genuine followers of Christ. They are here exposed to the common calamities of earth and time; all things fall alike to them as to others, or rather they are subject to the greater sorrow, for they have often reason to say, If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable, 1 Co. 15:19. The unchristian world, therefore, that walks by sight, knows not their dignity, their privileges, the enjoyments they have in hand, nor what they are entitled to. Little does the world think that these poor, humble, contemned ones are the favourites of heaven, and will be inhabitants there ere long. And they may bear their case the better since their Lord was here unknown as well as they: Because it knew him not, v. 1. Little did the world think how great a person was once sojourning here, that the Maker of it was once an inhabitant of it. Little did the Jewish world think that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, was one of their blood, and dwelt in their land; he came to his own, and his own received him not. He came to his own, and his own crucified him; but surely, had they known him, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory, 1 Co. 2:8. Let the followers of Christ be content with hard fare here, since they are in a land of strangers, among those who little know them, and their Lord was so treated before them. Then the apostle,

III. Exalts these persevering disciples in the prospect of the certain revelation of their state and dignity. Here, 1. Their present honourable relation is asserted: Beloved (you may well be our beloved, for you are beloved of God), now are we the sons of God, v. 2. We have the nature of sons by regeneration: we have the title, and spirit, and right to the inheritance of sons by adoption. This honour have all the saints. 2. The discovery of the bliss belonging and suitable to this relation is denied: And it doth not yet appear what we shall be, v. 2. The glory pertaining to the sonship and adoption is adjourned and reserved for another world. The discovery of it here would put a stop to the current of affairs that must now proceed. The sons of God must walk by faith, and live by hope. 3. The time of the revelation of the sons of God in their proper state and glory is determined; and that is when their elder brother comes to call and collect them all together: But we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him. The particle, ean, usually translated if, is here well rendered when; for the Hebrew particle am (to which this is thought to correspond) is observed so to signify, as Dr. Whitby has here noted; and not only is ean sometimes used for hotan, but some copies even here read hotan, when. And accordingly it seems proper so to render it in Jn. 14:3, where we read it, And if I go, and prepare a place; but more naturally and properly, When I shall have gone, and shall have prepared the place, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, or paraleµpsomai-I will take you along with myself, that where I am there you may be also. When the head of the church, the only-begotten of the Father, shall appear, his members, the adopted of God, shall appear and be manifested together with him. They may then well wait in faith, hope, and earnest desire, for the revelation of the Lord Jesus; as even the creation itself waiteth for their perfection, and the public manifestation of the sons of God, Rom. 8:19. The sons of God will be known and be made manifest by their likeness to their head: They shall be like him-like him in honour, and power, and glory. Their vile bodies shall be made like his glorious body; they shall be filled with life, light, and bliss from him. When he, who is their life, shall appear, they also shall appear with him in glory, Col. 3:4. Then, 4. Their likeness to him is argued from the sight they shall have of him: We shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Their likeness will be the cause of that sight which they shall have of him. Indeed, all shall see him, but not as they do; not as he is, namely, to those in heaven. The wicked shall see him in his frowns, in the terror of his majesty, and the splendour of his avenging perfections; but these shall see him in the smiles and beauty of his face, in the correspondence and amiableness of his glory, in the harmony and agreeableness of his beatific perfections. Their likeness shall enable them to see him as the blessed do in heaven. Or the sight of him shall be the cause of their likeness; it shall be a transformative sight: they shall be transformed into the same image by the beatific view that they shall have of him. Then the apostle,

IV. Urges the engagement of these sons of God to the prosecution of holiness: And every man that hath this hope in him purifies himself even as he is pure, v. 3. The sons of God know that their Lord is holy and pure; he is of purer heart and eyes than to admit any pollution or impurity to dwell with him. Those then who hope to live with him must study the utmost purity from the world, and flesh, and sin; they must grow in grace and holiness. Not only does their Lord command them to do so, but their new nature inclines them so to do; yea, their hope of heaven will dictate and constrain them so to do. They know that their high priest is holy, harmless, and undefiled. They know that their Go and Father is the high and holy one, that all the society is pure and holy, that their inheritance is an inheritance of saints in light. It is a contradiction to such hope to indulge sin and impurity. And therefore, as we are sanctified by faith, we must be sanctified by hope. That we may be saved by hope we must be purified by hope. It is the hope of hypocrites, and not of the sons of God, that makes an allowance for the gratification of impure desires and lusts.

  19. Elmarie A says:

    Kwaku

i glory in the fact that he came to die for me to redeem me and to give me a new life..

That is not where it ends you know. You must surely look forward to Heaven more so than this life on earth? Our new life in Heaven will be much better than here on earth. Therefore this life on earth does not matter at all. The new life you receive is to enable us to meet Jesus in the clouds one day. Jesus redeemed us from our sins and gave us new life to live on the earth and the gate is very narrow you know.

We are in the world but not of the world.

    John 15:19
If you belonged to the world, the world would treat you with affection and would love you as its own. But because you are not of the world [no longer one with it], but I have chosen (selected) you out of the world, the world hates (detests) you.

  20. Kwaku says:

    @ elmarie..

yes i know we have a better place to go and that is heaven.. i never said the earth was the final destination.
and you have actually said exactly what i have been trying to communicate.. that we are in the world but we are not of this world.. when we are born again we are different from the world.. we become sons of God( or as you would have it, children of God)

and with i john 3:2.. there is nothing after ijohn 3:2 which suggests that we are not sons of God.. so how do u mean i should read in context???.. is it the commentaries you are refering to??..

  21. seun says:

simply replaced the word ‘God’ for ‘Word’ in John 1:12
it reads that we Children of Word
a dog will give birth to a dog, a lizard will give birth to lizard and a god will give birth to god.therefore the word will birth to the word.
that is as simple as God wants to communicate with us but we are too busy looking for the complex thing thereby bring a stumbling blocks on your path.as simple as rom 10:10

  22. seun

Oh my… It’s official everyone wants to be a god. Seun, let me know when you have create your first planet, ok? Better yet, start with something small like a little stone.

  23. keak says:

    @Deborah,
    Bornagain i.e our spirit is recreated after the nature of God. – a new creation 2Cor 5:17;
1John 5:4 Born of God ; 1John 5:1 God says: “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God:
1Pet 1:23 born of incorruptibe seed,
    2Pet 1:4 partakers of God’s divine nature

So many verses elaborate on the divine nature that our spirit is composed of once we accept Jesus in our hearts. Knowing who im in Christ doesnot mean im claimng to be the creator/God. Rather, bse of He who is living in me, i have been made an overcomer, victorious. We have been called to have complete mastery and dominion over all circumstances in our lives!! The christian life is beautiful.

  24. Amanda says:

    keak

We have been called to have complete mastery and dominion over all circumstances in our lives!! The christian life is beautiful.

Paul was then an utter failure and he died a martyr’s death. What does “accept Jesus in our hearts” mean?

  25. Elmarie A says:

    keak

    God:
1Pet 1:23 born of incorruptibe seed,
    2Pet 1:4 partakers of God’s divine nature

You cannot use the Bible out of CONTEXT keak. It is very important to know that we cannot take that which suites us from the Scripture by just using a couple of words. We must study the Word and always use the verses in CONTEXT.

Let me just add in the complete correct verses
    1 Peter 1:23 (New International Version)IN CONTEXT:

1 Peter 1:22-24 (New International Version)
    22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.[a] 23For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24For, “All men are like grass,and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,

    2 Peter 1:4 (New International Version)in CONTEXT:
2 Peter 1:3-5 (New International Version)
Making One’s Calling and Election Sure
3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
    5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;

  26. Elmarie A says:

    keak

Do you see that Being Born Again as your right?

  27. aubrey says:

i think the teachings of Chris are sinister in nature and embodies with them the concepts of psycology. The prosperity gospel, the celebrity status of christians, the judge it all christians. The claim it and receive it. I think in overall, the modern day spiritual gurus. Its a phenomenon and a new trend. Anyhow, the Bible is like a prisoner of war, if you torture it enough it wil tel you what you want to hear.

  28. lln says:

pastor chris is rigth. please read the scripture very well before arguing. the word of God is not Just the letter you have to read in between the line.

    be careful

  29. IIn

Um, no. He is not right. Men are not gods and never will be.

  30. Pearl says:

Chris Oyakhilome’s teaching are frightening. I attended the church until I just could not make sense of his teachings anymore. He read from the bible BUT his expalnation of scripture was out of context. It took God’s grace to have my eyes opened. I had to go and read scripture myself not only “quotings” of certain verses but UNDERSTAND what the entire chapter seeked to teach.

My great Lord the false teachings I picked up. The none sense his teaching had. The lies he taught. You the man is smart extremely smart. You have to truly pay attention to him, write everything he says, go back home ask God to reveal the scripture and teaching…read your bible, read his teaching and you would be amazed at the FALSE DOCTRINE he teaches.
