AWESOME!!! Yes, Jesus is still in the miracle business! Hallelujah!

About 20 or so years ago my dad had Pancreatic & Liver cancer. I was still married and living in North Carolina. I left there to go be with my momma. When I got there the doctor told me that dad had 4 dsys to live. Well he died 12 years later from double pneumonia. God is still in the house. He still does the impossible. But it is HE who does it! Not some wolf/tv "healer" It is God and God a lone.

When we first found out dad had cancer mom, my brother and I said that we would support what ever dad decided to do concerning chemo. Well he said, let's do it. He never got sick, kept a fairly good appetite and did lose some hair but I still had to trim it for him. What he lost came back in curly!

It makes me sick to see Benny Hinn and other wolves claiming to heal people. Then the poor people that believe he can heal them never get to see him if they're terminal. He will stand before God Almighty someday and may his millions of dollars perish in the flames.

Good for you girl!

Jesus delivered me from smoking!!!! I started smoking when I was young, when I wanted to rebel against society. To stop smoking was impossible, only Jesus could deliver me and that He did! I thank Him ever so often for that wonderful miracle because not only did He deliver me from smoking but He gave me new lungs as well!!!

A couple years later I had very bad flu and I went to get chest x-rays, the doc looked at them and she said, 'great lungs of a non-smoker'. I said to her, 'you mean there is no signs that I smoked?' she said, 'no, your lungs are perfect, just some Phlegm'! I was on the verge of getting Emphysema when Jesus delivered me from smoking, so one can only imagine what my lungs looked like! I prayed for Him to deliver me from smoking and He healed my lungs as well!

People who say that Jesus does not do miracles anymore don't know what they are talking about!

I know this is a very old post but...smoking will not send someone to hell. It just makes you smell like you just came from there.

Here is what King James VI & I thought about smoking tobacco.

Concerning Smoking He Stated: A custom loathsome to the eye, hateful to the nose, harmful to the brain, dangerous to the lungs, and in the black stinking fume thereof nearest resembling the horrible stygian smoke of the pit that is bottomless.

Jesus Heals wrote:

I dont have a problem with repentance of sin. Without one repenting one cannot be born again. So what you said doesnt make sense. And as for people thinking that one sin in a born again persons life can send you to hell. I’ve actually heard of preachers who thought that if you smoked cigarettes they would go to hell. Where in the Bible does it say that?

And no I dont throw all born again christians into a fundamentalist category. I just find fundamentalism to have alot of flaws just like word of faith. Do I think that fundamentalists are going to hell? No not at all, I just believe that some fundamentalists take things way too literally. And by that, I mean there is too much law being preached in the churches today. Paul strictly said that Christians DO NOT need the law. The sinner is the one in need of the Law to see how sinful they are. A christian knows how sinful they are and know they need Jesus Christ to make them perfect.

God Bless

If I may chime in on the topic of 7th Day Adventism - often the Sabbath keeping is considered a requirement for salvation and those who worship on Sunday are considered to be apostates. This is my understanding of most Adventists. Also, there are the dietary requirements. They follow a false prophet, Ellen G. White. I do not believe that one can be a true believer and be a devotee of Adventism. The main reason being that it is a false Gospel, a gospel of works. They are under the Law, the Sabbath commandment and hold to dietary restrictions. Also, the eschatology is goofy although that is not the main issue.

There may be various degrees of Adventism, but my research and personal experience bears out the fact that the above are common beliefs held by Adventists.

The issue of soul sleep is also of consideration. There are too many factors to call this an orthodox Christian group, the most important being a false gospel.
Sorry if this offends, as there are many good and sincere folks in this religion, but they are under bondage.

Stuart

"What does the Bible say about soul sleep?"

Answer: “Soul sleep” is a belief that after a person dies, his/her soul “sleeps” until the resurrection and final judgment. The concept of “soul sleep” is not biblical. When the Bible describes a person “sleeping” in relation to death (Luke 8:52; 1 Corinthians 15:6), it does not mean literal sleep. Sleeping is just a way to describe death because a dead body appears to be asleep. The moment we die, we face the judgment of God (Hebrews 9:27). For believers, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, death means everlasting punishment in hell (Luke 16:22-23).

Until the final resurrection, though, there is a temporary heaven—paradise (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:4) and a temporary hell—Hades (Revelation 1:18; 20:13-14). As can be clearly seen in Luke 16:19-31, neither in paradise nor in Hades are people sleeping. It could be said, though, that a person’s body is “sleeping” while his soul is in paradise or Hades. At the resurrection, this body is “awakened” and transformed into the everlasting body a person will possess for eternity, whether in heaven or hell. Those who were in paradise will be sent to the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21:1). Those who were in Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people—based entirely on whether or not a person trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation.

Present-day defenders of soul sleep include the Seventh Day Adventist church, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christadelphians, and others.

Stuart

Stuart, a Seventh-day Adventist, intrigued by your comparison with the Mormons, I must say -)

Please don not take exception just take heed. I am posting this article below as I do not know if you know of the dangers about Seventh-day Adventist. I pray you read this and Heed to the warnings.

"What is Seventh-day Adventism (SDA) and what do Seventh-day Adventists believe?"

Answer: There seem to be different "degrees" of Seventh-day Adventism. Some Seventh-day Adventists believe identically to orthodox Christians, other than believing that worship should be held on Saturday and that the Saturday Sabbath should still be observed. If these are the only differences, then yes, a person could be a Seventh-day Adventist and still be a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

However, some Seventh-day Adventists believe in much more than a Saturday Sabbath / worship day. Seventh-day Adventists have been known to believe in: the annihilation of the wicked instead of an eternal hell, that believers who die enter a state of soul sleep, and that a person must observe the Saturday Sabbath in order to be saved. Other problems with some Seventh-day Adventists are: belief in Ellen G. White, the founder of Seventh-day Adventism, as a true prophet of God even though many of her "prophecies" failed to come true - and - that Jesus entered a second phase of His redemptive work on October 22, 1844, as "prophesied" by Hiram Edson.

So, What is Seventh-day Adventism and what do Seventh-day Adventists believe? Should a Christian attend a Seventh-day Adventist church? Due to the potential doctrinal issues mentioned above, I would strongly encourage believers to not get involved in Seventh-day Adventism. Yes, a person can be an advocate of Seventh-day Adventism and still be a believer. At the same time, there are enough potential issues to make attending a Seventh-day Adventist church questionable at best.

I had read with interest up to this page, but this does not seem to be Christ-like inquiry after The Truth. Shame because I had enjoyed some of the comments before this and wanted to join in on the Nephilim and specifically ask you your thoughts on the Council of Laodicia that removed the Book of Enoch (part of the Dead Sea Scrolls) and many others while simultaneously attacking the commanded Sabbath -- i.e. to what degree, therefore, can one trust the completeness of the bible they left us with traditionally?

I find much in the bible difficult to understand, which is why I love the simplicity of Rev. 12:17 describing in a nutshell what makes someone a Christian, for want of a better label given this "debate." When all the intellectualism is said and done, simply "...obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus." A bit of the Old, a bit of the New, inseparable as one would expect, cemented together through Time with love.
