Angus Buchan and the Roman Catholic Reconciliation

angus-buchan-and-the-roman-catholic-reconciliation

In 2008 I wrote an article on Angus Buchan called The Dominionist Faith of Angus Buchan – Faith Like Potatoes and in it I noted the following:

Angus recently went to Ireland and preached to Protestants and Roman Catholics:[Emphasis added below]

**  “This Sunday I will be in Durban and next week I go to Belfast, Northern Ireland to preach to the Protestants and the Roman  Catholics and the whosoevers.” [3]

**  “We saw many healings, salvations and re-commitments and a stirring in the hearts of the Irish people.” … [16]

** “At our meetings we had Catholics and Protestants together, surrendering their lives to Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful time of reconciliation.””[16]

Re-commitments?  To what? ….

Testing the Spirits – True Spiritual Discernment

Testing the Spirits

by Prof. Johan Malan

Christians should be able to test all doctrine in creeds, sermons, books, articles, as well as statements made during discussions, to determine if they are a true reflection of Scriptural truth: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). Every religious message has a spiritual dimension to it – either the Spirit of truth who wants to guide us into all truth (John 16:13), or Satan’s spirit of error who is intent on deceiving as many people as possible, also within churches (1 John 4:6; 2 Pet. 2:1-2).

The testing is done by carefully comparing a particular statement or message with biblical pronouncements to determine its authenticity. If this is not done, false teachings will naively be accepted by those who are ignorant of what the Bible teaches (cf. 2 Cor. 11:3-4). Rather follow the example of the Berean Jews who welcomed Paul’s message with great eagerness but examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul had said was true (Acts 17:11). Their enthusiasm for the gospel, as well as their high regard for the apostle, did not preclude them from critically examining Paul’s message to ensure that what they believed was in full agreement with God’s Word.

‘WHAT DOES GOD THINK OF US?’ – Broadcasts on SABC2 @ 8:30am Presented by Theo Geyser

What does God think of us?

by Tom Lessing - www.1joh4.wordpress.com

About sixteen years ago Coetzee Zietsman, one of the cameramen of the series, “What does God think of us?”on SABC2, produced a similar program for SABC TV. It was probably one of the most shocking programs ever to hit the TV airwaves in South Africa. It showed in graphical detail how South African sangomas (witchdoctors) are initiated into the occult practice of communicating with their dead ancestors. One of the methods used to appease the ancestral spirits and to determine whether they approve of the candidates who have been chosen to become sangomas is the following:

The candidate is told to lie on the ground, usually on her left side opposite a goat which is lain down in a similar position on its right side. Both are covered with a single animal skin that serves as a blanket. The focal point in the ceremony is the goat because it allegedly functions as a medium through which the ancestral spirits communicate their wishes. The candidate must then simulate sex with the goat. If the goat reacts in a positive way, so to speak, it is a sign that the ancestors are pleased with the candidate and that she may proceed to the next part of the ceremony. The goat’s jugular vein is then slit and while a gush of blood spurts out freely the candidate puts her mouth to the gaping wound and starts to drink the blood. Sometimes the blood is caught up in a beaker for her to drink.

Open Letter to Graham Power regarding the Unashamedly Ethical Campaign

Mr Graham Power
Chairman
Unashamedly Ethical Campaign

————————–

Dear Mr Power

CLARITY REGARDING YOUR VISION AND “UNASHAMEDLY ETHICAL CAMPAIGN”

I have read your “3 wave vision” to deal with “our common crisis” (i.e., “moral decay”) and desire to “stem the filthy river of corruption across the earth” by forming “Unashamedly Ethical communities all over the world,” with great interest – as stipulated on www.unashamedlyethical.com. A person does not have to be a rocket scientist to recognise that the world, including our own society, is in a state of moral chaos. Corruption amongst Government officials and talk shows of the kind of Jerry Springer send shivers down the spine of anyone with an ounce of moral sensibility. But moral chaos never comes as a surprise to Christians for they know there is a deep connection between a secular worldview and ethical/moral beliefs and conduct.

Although your vision and the activities ensuing from it seem inspired and pursued with unshakeable confidence in its truth, I find it difficult to share in it. I would therefore be grateful if you could correct my understanding of your vision. As I see it, the commitment to being Unashamedly Ethical is:

Yes, a Future Kingdom, but Not a Kingdom Now

yes-a-future-kingdom-but-not-a-kingdom-now

Hillsong - Kingdom Now Theology

Not a Kingdom Now

Prof. Johan Malan, Mossel Bay, South Africa (April 2011)  www.bibleguidance.co.za

It is of the greatest importance that Christians should expect a future kingdom – not a kingdom now, during the church dispensation. One of the very serious forms of deception, which the Christian church worldwide is exposed to, emanates from wrongly interpreted promises and commands that we should establish a visible kingdom here and now. An orientation of this nature is the breeding-ground for spiritual deception since it offers Satan’s alternate kingdom the opportunity of holding out to believers something else than that which the Bible promises us for the present dispensation: a different faith, a different way of life, a different status, a different world, and ultimately a different Christ and a different kingdom.

Kingdom now theology, also referred to as kingdom theology or dominionism, is founded upon a large number of false premises. It deviates from the pure doctrine of the Bible in a number of ways. The following 20 characteristics of our present position in the world refute a kingdom orientation for the church dispensation:

Why does God allow us to Suffer

why-does-god-allow-us-to-suffer

Suffice in Correction

Is there a logical reason for HARDSHIPS in the presence of a LOVING GOD?

Job 2:10 …….What?  shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?……..

The Last Days and The Last Day.

Before we do get to the topic on suffering, there is one more stumbling block to overcome and that is question regarding the last days. I was also one of those, whose will too listen to Biblical truths was somewhat cooled off, when looking at the last days and trying to establish meaning pertaining to the significance of the last days. Everyone always said and so was my own train of thought, that the last days were spoken of two thousand years ago. How long are the last days then? Does the Bible have a never-ending plan for the world, or is there a final end? It seems as if the end is continuous. This is exactly what Peter was drawing on in 2Peter 3: 4 – 7.

Well, let’s see what is really meant by this. Can we take this in a literal sense or not? If the Scriptures are Holy inspired, then the answer should be found in the Bible. The Bible has many apparent contradictions, yet when one really delves into the studying of the Scriptures prayerfully, the Scriptures in its original context disprove any contradiction. There is a bigger picture to be found. Scripture always interprets Scripture and extended study will always permeate into a better understanding of the Bible, as a whole.

Rick Warren to host ex-British Prime Minister Tony Blair

rick-warren-to-host-ex-british-prime-minister-tony-blair

Understand the Times said; “A commentary regarding the coming great meeting with Tony Blair and Rick Warren, March 6, 2011, will be published soon on Lighthouse Trails’ website and written by Roger Oakland. For now, it can be said, this alliance is what it is.

Anyone with half a clue should be able to discern that there is no gospel in doing good, and that Rick Warren’s peace plan is the one found in the Bible regarding the last days that sets up the Antichrist. Warren and Blair both seem to be bent on working with the pope in order to establish the Kingdom along with Glen Beck, Sarah Palin and some in Calvary Chapel who believe that the American Founding Fathers were Christians and therefore America is a Christian nation.

Such nonsense is being promoted by people like David Barton who is toted by some as the savior of America.

Warren and Blair along with the President of Rwanda are on the same board to establish the first Purpose Drive nation. It will not be long now until they will be establishing the 666 plan to establish the New World Order, the One World Religion and the One World Economy.”

Prophecies on 2011 and 2012 – Are They Reliable?

Prophecies on 2011 and 2012 – Are They Reliable?

Prof. Johan Malan, Mossel Bay, South Africa (February 2011)

We are living in an ever changing and unpredictable world. People through the ages have always wondered what the future holds, and this is the reason why prophecies about the future have always been very popular, regardless of whether they are derived from divine or psychic sources. Now, more than ever before, there are ominous signs in nature as well as in human societies that more and more major disasters are in the offing. Consequently, there is a proliferation of various kinds of prophecies. In many of these, the next two years (2011 and 2012) are identified as appointed times for the fulfilment of major gloom and doom prophecies.

The following categories of prophecies are commonly encountered and should be evaluated:

Are Prophets for Today or has Prophecy Ceased?

are-prophets-for-today-or-has-prophecy-ceased

No, there are no prophets today because genuine Prophets are mentioned in the Bible – they were the foundations of the church and secondly the gift of prophecy has ceased.

The office of Prophet and Apostle was temporary…

and only necessary for the church before the completion of the Bible.  The actual foundation of the church was built UPON the Prophets and Apostles (with Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone).

Ephesians 2:19-22

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,20 having been built ON THE FOUNDATION of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Do Angels Visit us Today?

do-angels-visit-us-today

The answer is a simple NO.  The reason being is because Jesus Christ has given us the Holy Spirit.

John 14:15-18

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

From a casual reading of Scripture, a person might get the idea that angelic appearances were somewhat commonplace, but that is not the case. Likewise, in our society there has been a radical increased interest in angels, and it would seem that angelic appearances are commonplace today.  Angels appear in every religion, and generally seem to have the same role of messenger.  In the Old Testament angels seldom visited people and when they did come it was under very special or dire circumstances.  Below I have listed every visitation of an angel mentioned in scripture (except the book of Revelation).  In just over 4000 years, angels have appeared approximately 16 times.

New Calvinism – Catching a Gullible Generation

new-calvinism-catching-a-gullible-generation

A new term has been coined for the youth, it’s called New Calvinism or Neo-Reformed.  It’s actually Old Calvinism repackaged for a more vibrant gullible generation.

Why is Calvinism spreading like wild fire in the times we living in?  Because they preach what appears to be a truthful gospel!  People are sick and tired of having to listen to the Benny Hinn’s of the world, with all it’s false teachings and lavish excesses.  So up popped the Calvinist preachers to save the day.

But the preachers of New Calvinism fail to tell their followers the whole truth and nothing but the truth regarding T.U.L.I.P.  They don’t tell you that Total Depravity and Unconditional Election are actually Gnostic teachings and they don’t tell you that the Calvinistic version of Salvation is completely unbiblical because according to them Jesus died for the Chosen only and not the entire world as the Bible states in 1 John 2:2.   When you read anything written by a Calvinist, try read it from the Calvinist’s ‘Elect perspective’, only then will realise just how terrible their doctrine is.

According to Mark Driscoll, New Calvinism is the following:

The 3rd Lausanne Congress Opens in Cape Town – 16 Oct 2010

The Third Lausanne Congress Opens in Cape Town

MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 16 /Christian Newswire/ — The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization opens in Cape Town this weekend, Sunday 17 October 2010. It draws together 4,000 invited participants from 197 nations, and extends through GlobaLink sites to 90 countries. The Congress theme is ‘God in Christ, reconciling the world to himself’ (2 Corinthians 5:19) and how to bear witness to Jesus Christ and all his teaching in every region of the world and every sphere of society.

The Lausanne Movement, founded by Billy Graham, is uniquely placed to gather evangelicals for a common purpose. The Congress will reaffirm the primary truths of biblical Christianity, and engage with critical issues set to face the Church over the next decade. These issues have been identified through consultations around the world. Doug Birdsall, Chairman of The Lausanne Movement, said:  ’We have worked to engage evangelical leaders on all continents. This is the first Congress of its kind in the digital age, and we’re praying it will herald a new moment for the Church.’

Angus Buchan, Benny Hinn and God TV

angus-buchan-benny-hinn-and-god-tv

Article from Waak en Bid / Watch and Pray – Thomas Lessing

Angus Buchan, Benny Hinn and God TV

I recently read an article written by Prof. Johan Malan in which he expresses his concerns about Angus Buchan. He says, amongst other things, the following in his article “Spiritual Deception, Revival and Angus Buchan — Prof. Johan Malan, South Africa (May 2010)”

It is obvious that the South African revival preacher, Angus Buchan, does have a relationship with Jesus Christ as his Saviour and experiences Him as a living reality in his life. He also exhorts thousands of people to repent, and helps families to reconcile with each other, which is praiseworthy.  On the other hand, worried voices are being heard that he reveals great ignorance on various aspects of biblical doctrines – to such an extent that he has embarked on the way of kingdom theology, the ecumenical movement, and even the promotion of dubious signs and wonders. On certain occasions he has made positive comments on false prophets such as Benny Hinn and Kathryn Kuhlman. His perceived ignorance on these matters is disturbing and even bewildering. . . . The other questions relate to the kingdom deception which Angus proclaims to the crowds. How can he, according to his own insight, promise people that South Africa and Zimbabwe will be completely restored? In this regard he acts contrary to Jesus Christ Himself, who said that in the end-time there will be great tribulation such as has never been on earth (Matt. 24:21). Someone who correctly understands the biblical message on the end-time would warn his followers against a time of great spiritual and moral falling away, while also mentioning the possibility of the persecution and rejection of evangelical Christians. These matters are not part of Angus’s message. Neither does he proclaim the blessed hope of the rapture to Christians to encourage them to remain steadfast until the Lord Jesus takes us away to our heavenly home (1 Thess. 4:16-18). The fact that so many people stream to the meetings of Angus is proof of the lack of leadership which the whites in South Africa experience in both the political and religious fields. They are looking for somebody to come and lead the Boers. Even some of the Israel groups (British Israelism, or White Theology supporters) allege that Prophet Van Rensburg has referred to a leader who would lead the Boers to a Boer state where they can be free from domination by the blacks. Could this perhaps be the reason for the popularity that Angus enjoys? . . . He cannot even remotely be mentioned in the same vein as a revival preacher such as Andrew Murray. It is in fact highly questionable whether the movement which he describes as a revival indeed qualifies to be defined as such. [Deborah note:  It is not one bit obvious that Angus Buchan has a relationship with Jesus Christ, because if he did he would in no way be preaching the absolute rubbish he preaches which is out and out Kingdom Now, Manifest Sons of God doctrine which he has preached from the very beginning. Since the beginning Angus preached a false gospel, so I am confused, how you can have a SAVED FALSE TEACHER?]

Palace of Peace and Reconciliation located in Astana, Kazakhstan

palace-of-peace-and-reconciliation-located-in-astana-kazakhstan

The Palace of Peace and Reconciliation

(also translated as the Pyramid of Peace and Accord) is a 77 m high building in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The structure was built by Sembol Construction at a cost of 8.74 billion Kazakh tenge (about $58 million) and opened in late 2006.

The word Astana in Kazakh literally means Capital but the word itself originates from Persian (Astana, from the verb Istadan (آستان) to stand (in respect)), and literally means “threshold” (royal or sacred, where people stand in respect or awe), implying where the court is seated (the capital city) or the body of a sacred person in interred (a shrine town)  Wikipedia

Bayterek (Kazakh: Бәйтерек, “tall poplar [tree]“). The monument is meant to embody a folktale about a mythical tree of life and a magic bird of happiness: the bird, named Samruk, had laid its egg in the crevice between two branches of a poplar tree.  --Wikipedia
